Chapter 2096: Chapter 1657: The Platform Gives You Value
"The silver coin is reminding us that someone could hear what we just said," Anthony said.
"Ah, what do you mean? So, someone eavesdropped on our conversation?" Negris exclaimed.
Ursman suddenly said, "It’s not Kelanis."
"Why not Kelanis?" Negris asked in confusion, wondering who else could hear their conversation aside from Kelanis.
Ursman explained, "If it were Kelanis, the silver coin would be more cryptic and might not mention anything about memory uploads or resurrection. The key point of the silver coin’s last sentence is to remind us that someone can hear our conversation, but that person might not be able to see his memory."
"Based on this assumption of tracing back, he shouldn’t have mentioned resurrection, yet he did, indicating that any secrets he pointed out in our conversation were intentional."
Anthony nodded in agreement. Ursman was indeed a Wise Man, able to quickly grasp these oddities. Anthony had also thought about it himself, but had not summarized it as quickly.
"Then why is he revealing these secrets?" Negris asked in confusion.
Ursman said, "He knows someone is eavesdropping on our conversation but still leaks these secrets out, most likely to mislead the other party."
"It should be that way. He began by describing his location in detail, clearly indicating he’s entered a realm akin to a true illusion. The God Star probably lacks the ability to construct illusions, so who is constructing this illusion?" Anthony asked.
Negris seemed to have a sudden realization: "Are you saying he’s using words to lure the being who created the illusion? Who could that be?"
Everyone recalled their conversation with the silver coin but couldn’t pinpoint anyone.
Ursman could only say, "Perhaps the silver coin doesn’t know who that is, or maybe he’s unsure whether such a person exists, so he’s probing."
Who could it be? The information from the silver coin plunged everyone into endless speculation.
Finally, it was Negris who slapped his waist and said, "Why are we guessing here? Didn’t the silver coin say he uploaded memory? Ange, go check his memory."
Everyone exchanged glances, chuckling bitterly, "Right, the silver coin has made it clear, let’s check the memory he uploaded."
Ange skimmed through the silver coin’s memory and said, "Guesses, they were all correct."
The silver coin indeed speculated some things but was not very certain. His dialogue with everyone was meant to lure out that entity he presumed.
If that entity truly exists, he should soon come looking for them.
Sure enough, days later, the silver coin called out to Ange again, "Sir, the parasite tumor wants to talk to you."
"What is the parasite tumor?" Negris asked, puzzled.
The silver coin explained, "It’s a place on the Tree of Ten Thousand Realms where parasites grow. The Tree of Ten Thousand Realms discovered the pests and secreted a gel to encase them, suffocating the insects inside, forming a tumor. This tumor has been impregnated by the secreted gel, releasing a mysterious aura that can induce dreaming, eventually awakening its consciousness."
Anthony and others were taken aback, indeed surprised by the limitless void, a tumor could awaken consciousness?
"Why is it looking for us?" Anthony asked.
"Wait a moment," the silver coin first said, then his voice suddenly changed, "I want you to replicate my consciousness, create a body for me, resurrect me."
"You are the parasitic tumor? Do you have a name?" Anthony asked.
The parasitic tumor thought for a moment and said, "You can call me Ossia."
Anthony pondered for a while, unable to find any special meaning behind the name, then asked, "Why are you doing this?"
Why is it doing this? As a tumor constructing illusions for Kelanis, now it almost acts in betrayal by doing this, why?
"Why? What do you mean?" Ossia was puzzled upon hearing this question.
Anthony asked, "By uploading your memory to us, it’s equivalent to betraying Kelanis. Why?"
Ossia remained silent for a long time before saying, "Since gaining consciousness, I’ve never seen what the void looks like, the Tree of Ten Thousand Realms blocked everything, I want to see the void."
’To see the void’ is a simple wish, but Anthony deciphered a hidden message from the words; Ossia lacks freedom.
This Ossia can construct illusions but can’t even see the void itself, which is essentially imprisonment.
It might not even have contact with outside creatures; now, through the silver coin, speaking with them might be its first-ever interaction with external beings.
Realizing this, Anthony knew he had to say something.
"We will create a new body for you, then resurrect you, but what can you offer as a reward?" Anthony asked.
"Reward? You want me to offer a reward?" Ossia asked, bewildered.
Anthony was even more surprised, "Are you asking us to help you with this for free?"
Ossia fell silent for a long time before slowly saying, "My consciousness and memory are the best reward."
Anthony couldn’t help but chuckle, "Heh, you can’t even see the void, what’s the value in your memory? Do you know where Kelanis’ weaknesses are? Do you know what Kelanis fears the most? Do you know how to trigger Kelanis?"
With such questions posed, Ossia seemed to crash, remaining unresponsive for a while.
"Hey, hey, hey, Ossia, Ossia," Anthony called several times.
Finally, Ossia’s voice appeared, "I’ll relinquish this consciousness as payment."
Anthony laughed, "No need, he already uploaded the memory, resurrecting it is sufficient. Isn’t this what you need? If we can’t even resurrect memories, how could we resurrect your memory?"
Eventually, Ossia resignedly asked, "What do you want?"
Anthony said, "It’s not about what I want, but what you can offer? I want to defeat Kelanis, can you do that?"
Ossia remained silent for a long while before saying, "Let’s discuss what I can offer."
Ossia clearly lacked negotiation skills, surrendering immediately when threatened, abandoning resistance.
"What can you offer? Your only value seems to be yourself, doesn’t it?" Anthony said.
Ossia said, "I am a tumor on the Tree of Ten Thousand Realms. I parasitize it, my sole function is to construct an illusion through the aura of the tree gum, confusing creatures, I also don’t know what my value is."
Anthony replied gently, "Your greatest value is parasitizing the Tree of Ten Thousand Realms, and the platform has bestowed you with value."
