Four Split Personalities
Chapter 2820 - 1336: Interlude – Nonsense
"That was a long time ago..."
Double Leaf slightly brewed her emotions, then under the gaze of Yu Chen’s exclamation mark-filled eyes, and Mo Tan’s perplexed expression, she methodically narrated a fabricated story she had just organized a few seconds ago.
The story goes like this.
About five, six, seven, or eight years ago, when Double Leaf was still a young and righteous pretty girl, one day while surfing (committing crimes) online, she happened to meet a man (in the field of cybercrime) with whom she had quite a rapport (two thieves putting their hands into the same pocket).
The two hit it off instantly, and quickly became familiar thanks to sharing the same interests, their relationship rapidly intensified (their fights escalated to an undying level), and shortly after, they formed a special relationship (together founded the organization BLACK SUN, i.e., the ’Black Sun’, causing chaos).
After that (it was all made up)...
The two, considering each other an important part of their lives, were no longer content with online exchanges and decided to meet in real life too.
He came to her city, and the introverted her, filled with anticipation, stepped out of her house (Mo Tan noticed that the storyteller had now forgotten the original setting of not being socially phobic), to meet the prince who frequently appeared in her dreams.
He was younger, more handsome than she imagined, and was just as humorous and talkative as online, not only very considerate but also exceptionally caring, almost fulfilling all her expectations and fantasies before meeting.
He rented an apartment near her home, saying he resigned a few months ago and planned to change the environment and mood to rest well for half a year, thus logically settling down in her city.
He would still chat with her about the topics both liked, but besides that, he seemed to enjoy discovering new pleasures for her, like taking her, who barely stepped out, to malls, claw machines, movies, and shopping for clothes.
Whenever they went out, he would always let her walk on the side closer to the sidewalk.
When it was cold, he would always bend down and let her put her hands on his neck.
In crowded places, he would always stand beside her, tightly holding her left hand.
Her life and lifestyle thus changed, somehow she gradually stopped eating instant food and started knocking on his door regularly around meal times.
She enjoyed lazily lying on the table, watching him busily cook in the kitchen.
She enjoyed curling up on the sofa, leaving the computer and small server, and leaning on his shoulder watching TV programs she once would have never glanced at.
She enjoyed pretending to be startled by his clumsy pranks, then justifiably grabbing his hand to bite.
She enjoyed standing on his balcony, overlooking her room which was gradually becoming less gloomy.
She didn’t often stay overnight, but occasionally she would hide in the blanket flushed red, falling asleep to the sound of his typing on the keyboard, only to get irrationally angry the next morning due to his overly gentlemanly demeanor.
Unlike her who only liked causing trouble, despite claiming to rest for half a year, he would still take time to work every day, the content of which she didn’t quite understand, but accompanying him, dazing beside or occasionally causing mischief would always make her happy.
In fact, anything related to him seemed to bring her joy, no matter what it was.
It seemed like a blink of an eye had passed before half a year flew by, and during the last month, she finally revealed her feelings to him, and he reciprocated with an exhilarating response.
But because she was not yet an adult back then, he seemed to have no intentions of doing anything with her.
Hence, overwhelmed by love, she chose one day to drug him. (Yu Chen gasped)
The drug worked well, and something naturally happened between the two, and shortly afterwards, he chose to leave without saying goodbye, disappearing from her world.
"Then I found out I was pregnant."
Double Leaf sighed with a distant gaze, murmuring: "I couldn’t keep the child."
Yu Chen was rendered completely speechless.
As for Mo Tan, given that he knew who the male figure actually was in the story, and that Double Leaf was outright fabricating, he was relatively calm, even retorting: "You say you were deceived and lost everything, but why do I feel like you tricked him? Even drugged?"
[Damn, got carried away with the story and forgot to make it consistent.]
Double Leaf cursed in her heart, then put on a hurt expression, burying her face in Yu Chen’s shoulder.
"Hei Fan, say less!"
Although sharp-minded, Yu Chen, after being fooled by Double Leaf’s story, gave Mo Tan a glare, then gently patted Double Leaf’s fragile back, whispering: "So what you mean is, that person who lost contact..."
Double Leaf, secretly forcing tears in her eyes, nodded and raised her face solemnly, saying: "I have enough evidence, that person had already been engrossed in the Realm of Innocence not long after the game launched, I even met him in the game."
"So, do you want to find him to take responsibility?"
Mo Tan smirked and commented: "Don’t blame me for not reminding you, even if you go to the police with this, there’s nothing justifiable."
