Huaixi always chose silence, not speaking yet not ignoring the other party, making Gu Molin find it quite amusing. Since when did the Gu family’s children become so cautious and full of spikes? Compared to Huaixi’s silence, he felt the other little child was easier to handle.

However, he quickly dismissed this thought. Don’t be fooled by Huaifeng’s natural mischievous attributes. When it comes down to it, he’s very reliable. Attempting to pry information from him might accidentally lead you to be ensnared.

"Alright...this old man is genuinely curious now. Which family do you belong to, with such high alertness despite your young age? This is the Gu family’s big mansion, its defense capabilities rival those of the Alliance headquarters; who could harm you here? Facing an old man like me nearing the end of my life, you still won’t speak a word of truth? Young people, always pushing around the poor old bones."

Saying that, Gu Molin very fittingly pulled out a handkerchief from his pocket, pressing it to the corner of his eye. The two little buns instantly felt exasperated, wondering why they found this "Grandpa" so amusing? Where was the legendary marshal’s dignity and the boss aura?

Huaifeng sneakily gave his brother a look, speculating: "Perhaps he also enjoys watching the recently popular palace intrigue romance dramas? I can’t help but feel that the way he presses the handkerchief to his eye looks exactly like the scene from yesterday’s episode, where the scheming old wife pretends to cry..."

As twin brothers, Huaixi and Huaifeng have an uncanny connection and tacit understanding, making it easy to sync up their brainwaves with just a glance, interpreting the meaning behind them. However, Huaixi now wished he hadn’t understood.

Simulating crying for a while, Gu Molin secretly observed the expressions of the two little buns, finding that these little rascals weren’t cooperating with the old man’s act at all. Instead of soothing him gently, they were staying there and "flirting with their eyes" ... Had they forgotten there was a heartbroken old man here urgently needing their comfort? Gu Molin felt a faint sense of futility.

Seeing that his fake tears didn’t gain sympathy, Gu Molin finally put away the handkerchief embroidered with a certain badge. He gave each of them a light tap on the head and began changing tactics from "woeful soldier" to "wolf-in-grandmother’s-clothing," "Do you know my position in this mansion? Daring to ignore the old man, be careful when your parents come back, they might spank your bottoms."

When Huaixi heard the word "parents," his expression finally changed a bit, lowering his head slightly, speaking gloomily, "If ignoring you would make mom and dad... mad enough to spank, then I will always, always..." Ignore you!

Huaixi swallowed the rest of his words. For a moment, he lost control of his emotions, forgetting who the person in front of him was. If he said it, Huaixi didn’t care whether the other side liked him or not, just worried they would blame his mom for poor upbringing.

Little Bear Huaifeng silently showed support, giving his brother a thumbs-up. The only one feeling double exasperation was Gu Molin.

He thought children were all lively and cute, but didn’t expect there existed "Little Bear" such a peculiar type. Trying to get benefits from the latent mischievous Huaixi and overtly mischievous Huaifeng was really looking in the wrong place.

"This old man isn’t a bad person, but half the master of this mansion, and counts as your elder. What are you guarding against?" Gu Molin decided not to play the buffoon anymore, using a gentle and kind voice to ask them, "Here, no one would dare to harm the Gu family’s children, even if those wishing harm are themselves from the Gu family..."

So, the two Little Bears should rest assured, he’s a very gentle old man, not the Big Bad Wolf!

Huaixi seemed determined to be a taciturn gourd, refusing to say a word, while Huaifeng’s eyes darted around, choosing to stick with his brother on the same line. Gu Molin could only look at these two children and sigh... feeling somewhat resentful, questioning which family they belonged to. They were like little carved jade figures, delicate and clear-eyed, full of spiritual energy, making them instantly likable.

But perhaps the adults didn’t teach them well... Could it be their guarded silence was due to adults repeatedly warning them beforehand? Thinking about this possibility, Gu Molin’s heart couldn’t help but feel helpless. Raising his hand, he ruffled Huaixi’s hair, "How long have you been waiting here, are you hungry?"
