From Broken Family to Life Winner: A Reborn Mother's Journey
Chapter 542 - 541: Little Mo’s Impulse (Part 1)
"Hello, Uncle," Little Tang Mo also said with a wide smile, greeting the leader.
"Please, sit." This leader was exceptionally kind and approachable. After Little Tang Mo sat down, he greeted Su Li and Wu Sheng warmly.
After the greetings, the leader once again began subtly trying to persuade Little Tang Mo to join the police force in the future.
Su Li watched, speechless.
’Having a son this outstanding is its own kind of trouble.’
After the host finished speaking, he invited the leader to the stage. The leader went up and began his speech with self-reflection, stating that the current situation was a result of their dereliction of duty and that they would work even harder in the future.
Then, he began to praise the subordinates who had worked the hardest and risked their lives during this period.
The depraved human traffickers were not easy to catch. The police officers had risked everything to apprehend them, and many had been injured in the line of duty and were still in the hospital.
Everyone present couldn’t help but be moved.
Someone started saying "thank you," and soon the venue was flooded with chants of "thank you."
The police officers who had come to attend the grand reunion listened to the chorus of thanks, and the more sentimental ones were moved to tears.
A scorching warmth filled their hearts.
’All their hard work was worth it!’
The leader was also moved. Finally, he raised his glass, and everyone downed the first drink together.
After thanking the police, the leader changed the subject and began to praise Little Tang Mo.
He recounted some of Little Tang Mo’s heroic deeds, though he appropriately omitted certain details.
Even with these omissions, his story still earned a round of applause and cheers from the entire room.
The parents of Little Frog, Little Yang Mei, and the others were even more moved, their eyes welling up with tears of excitement.
Finally, the leader beckoned Little Tang Mo to the stage and solemnly presented him with a silk banner and a cash prize.
After presenting the awards, the leader actually bowed to Little Tang Mo in gratitude.
This bow was on behalf of themselves, but more importantly, on behalf of the victims and their families.
Standing on the stage, Little Tang Mo was stunned. Down below, Su Li was stunned too.
And just then, at some point, everyone in the room had gotten to their feet and was silently bowing to Little Tang Mo in gratitude.
Even though Little Tang Mo was so young, they wanted to sincerely thank him for what he had done.
It was as if Little Tang Mo was one of them.
Little Tang Mo stood on the small, low stage, watching the actions of these respectable and kind uncles, seeing the smiles on their faces. He pressed his lips together, his eyes shining with an astonishing light.
Just as he was clutching the banner tightly and about to step down from the stage, the parents of Little Frog, Little Yang Mei, and the others suddenly stood up on their own accord.
Some silently, some aloud, they all said "thank you," bowing deeply to express their solemn gratitude.
"Say thank you to Brother Mo," they whispered, teaching the children beside them.
"Thank you, Brother Mo!" A ragged chorus of children’s voices rang out. Their faces were wreathed in smiles as they obediently shouted, their expressions showing a pure affection for Tang Mo.
They were still innocent, so their "thank you" didn’t carry the same weight as their parents’, but it was just as sincere.
The parents looked at their children’s innocent, smiling faces, some hugging their small bodies, others draping an arm around their small shoulders, and once again silently expressed their thanks to Little Tang Mo.
Thanking Little Tang Mo for bringing their children back to them.
It was a sincere gratitude, expressed with tear-filled eyes.
"Uncles, Aunties... please get up. You don’t have to do this."
Little Frog’s mother heard the slight panic in Little Tang Mo’s voice. She straightened up and wiped the tears from her face.
"We just wanted to thank you. This is nothing. If it weren’t for the fact that you’re so young and we can’t, we’d be willing to kowtow to you a hundred, a thousand, even ten thousand times."
Her words, spoken with a smile and a hint of jest, made everyone laugh through their tears.
Whether they had found their children or not, they all couldn’t help but recall the years they had spent searching.
Back then, they would have done anything to get their children back.
They would have even given their lives, as long as they could find their children.
If it meant getting their own child back, wouldn’t they have been willing to kowtow hundreds, thousands, even tens of thousands of times? Of course they would have!
Among them, quite a few had actually done so.
Little Tang Mo stood on the stage, looking at the crowd below. Something suddenly stirred in his heart—an impulse that felt like it was about to break through the soil.
He couldn’t put a name to it yet, but his heart was pounding, his nose tingled, and a slightly unfamiliar, heroic spirit surged in his chest, making him want to do something...
He took two deep breaths and looked at the cash prize and the silk banner in his hands. They suddenly felt as heavy as a mountain.
The leader, watching the extremely solemn expression on Little Tang Mo’s face from the side, smiled slightly. He tilted his head and announced that the banquet was officially starting, telling everyone to eat and drink their fill.
The atmosphere at the banquet was lively from beginning to end.
However, Little Tang Mo’s little face remained serious the entire time. No one knew what he was thinking. He was still serious even after the banquet ended.
And he was still serious when they got home.
When they got home, Su Li kept glancing at Little Tang Mo.
"Little Mo, what’s wrong?"
"Nothing," Little Tang Mo said, shaking his head.
"I’ll help you hang up the banner, and I’ll put away your prize money for you as a memento," Su Li said.
"Okay," Little Tang Mo agreed with a nod.
The banner was hung in the living room in a particularly conspicuous spot, visible right as you walked in the door.
As for the prize money, it was six hundred yuan.
Six hundred yuan wasn’t a huge sum for Su Li and Little Tang Mo at this point, but this money was special.
In the end, Little Tang Mo decided to put it in the piggy bank Su Li had given him.
"There," Su Li said, clapping her hands in satisfaction. She looked at Little Tang Mo’s face and asked tentatively again.
"Little Mo, what are you thinking about? Is something on your mind?"
Little Tang Mo nodded. "Yeah. I haven’t quite figured it out yet. I’ll tell you when I do, Mom."
Hearing this, Su Li could only nod. "Okay."
The next day, when Su Li’s alarm went off, she got up and opened her door to find Little Tang Mo standing right outside, his eyes shining brightly.
"Mom!"
The moment he saw Su Li, Little Tang Mo rushed over to her. "I’ve figured it out, Mom."
Su Li’s eyes lit up. "Figured what out? Quick, tell me."
"Okay." Little Tang Mo took Su Li’s hand, pulled her over to the sofa to sit, and then sat down opposite her, his expression serious.
"Mom, I want to make something."
Su Li blinked. "Make something? What kind of thing?"
Little Tang Mo tilted his head. "I don’t know what it’s called yet, but I want to make something that can prevent children from getting lost, or, help find them as quickly as possible if they do."
Su Li’s face was a mask of astonishment.
Little Tang Mo looked at the banner hanging on the wall, then touched his chest.
"Yesterday, when I was on the stage, I suddenly had this impulse to do something for them. I didn’t know what it was at first, but now I do."
Little Tang Mo’s eyes were sparkling. "Mom, I’m going to make something that can help all the little brothers and sisters, and help all the uncles and aunties. I don’t want them to suffer so much."
"If a child wears this thing, and they get scared or snatched away, their parents will be able to know, to feel it. And even if they are taken, their parents will know where the child is..."
"And... I hope it can also automatically alert the police, to contact the police uncles..."
Little Tang Mo spoke with excitement. This was what he had thought of yesterday on stage, looking at the faces of those uncles and aunties, at their grateful expressions and their tears.
He’d had a vague feeling about it before, but standing on that stage yesterday, the feeling became much stronger—so strong that it sparked an impulse within him.
