"Thank you," Su Li replied.

Alice grabbed Su Li’s hand and pointed at Wu Sheng, her little face flushed with excitement as she rattled on. Cook, who had squeezed in after her, broke into a sweat just listening.

Wu Sheng and the bewildered crowd all looked to Su Li. ’What is this girl saying?’

Su Li suppressed a laugh and translated for her. "Alice says she’s seen movies and knows about our Huaguo kung fu. She says you must be a kung fu master and wants to learn from you."

The moment Su Li finished speaking, it unsurprisingly drew a round of laughter from everyone.

Wu Sheng couldn’t help but chuckle. "Can you tell her for me that I’m no kung fu master? I’m just an ordinary person who’s a little skilled. Many people in Huaguo are as capable as I am. I’m just one of the most average ones."

Su Li almost burst out laughing as she listened, but she gave him a silent thumbs-up in her heart.

’What a way to show off!’

His words made it sound as if everyone in Huaguo had his level of skill. In reality, while there were certainly many skilled people like him, there weren’t *that* many.

After all, exceptional talents weren’t like cabbages, available by the field or the truckload.

But even though that was the truth, when speaking to outsiders, they should definitely stick to Wu Sheng’s version.

Su Li translated for Alice, whose little mouth fell wide open as she gasped in amazement.

"WOW, that’s amazing! If just one person is this incredible, and if everyone is just as incredible... Oh my god, they’re so strong! Daddy, I love it here! I want to stay here, I want to stay here forever! I want to be as strong as them too!"

The successfully "brainwashed" little girl turned to Cook, her voice trembling with excitement.

From that moment on, little Alice saw everyone as a potential master, not daring to underestimate a single person.

It wasn’t until she was all grown up that she realized her belief that "all Huaguo people are kung fu masters" wasn’t true.

But what did that matter?

By then, the young girl had already started studying Huaguo martial arts and knew that while not everyone was a master, there were still a great many of them.

They might not have been as formidable as Wu Sheng, but there were truly a great many soldiers who were very strong and not the least bit weak.

By the time Cook, after expressing his heartfelt gratitude, finally led Alice away, more than half an hour had passed since Su Li and Wu Sheng left the room.

Because of the unexpected development of them suddenly becoming famous, and because everyone was now actively seeking them out, Su Li and Wu Sheng decided not to visit any other wards. Instead, they went straight to the room where Teacher Xiao Hong and the others were.

Teacher Xiao Hong’s hospital room was much more somber than the others.

Because besides Teacher Xiao Hong, there were also students who were still recovering.

They had been sick before and had also suffered a great fright, so they needed some time to get better.

When Su Li and Wu Sheng entered, everyone was still grateful, but their spirits weren’t as high.

Teacher Xiao Hong was lying in bed, lost in thought. She only perked up when she saw Su Li and Wu Sheng enter, but a flicker of unease crossed her face when she noticed Wa Wa Lian behind them.

Although she had already decided that if the man she was supposed to be matched with backed out, she could just remain unmarried for the rest of her life. She never expected Wa Wa Lian to say something like that to her.

It was only after Wa Wa Lian had left that she learned she had been clutching his hand all night without letting go.

"Thank you for coming to see me, and for saving me before. I’m truly, very grateful."

Teacher Xiao Hong didn’t dare to imagine what would have happened if Wu Sheng and Su Li hadn’t come to rescue her.

"Don’t be so formal. You’re thanking us so much it’s making us feel embarrassed." Su Li looked at Teacher Xiao Hong earnestly, her heart filled with a thousand emotions.

Such a responsible teacher was hard to find, not just in later generations, but even now.

Su Li thought of the teachers in later generations who abused their students, and then looked at Teacher Xiao Hong, unable to stop herself from sighing again.

’Such a good teacher, yet she had to encounter something so terrible.’

Teacher Xiao Hong’s mother was at her side. Though she was trying her best to force a smile, her red, swollen eyes showed she had clearly been crying a lot.

She didn’t know what to say about the incident, other than feeling heartbroken.

After all, her daughter had been trying to protect her students. And in a way, the students had been implicated because of her.

Since last night, while Teacher Xiao Hong was still unconscious, parents of the students had come to thank them time and again, bringing many gifts to express their gratitude.

Xiao Hong’s mother didn’t want to accept them, especially the expensive ones, and it took a great deal of effort to refuse.

This morning, the children had come one by one to see Xiao Hong, comforting her with their innocent words, saying they would protect their teacher when they grew up. Listening to them was heartbreaking, heartwarming, and painful all at once.

Human relationships are about exchanging sincerity for sincerity. Xiao Hong was good to them, and the children naturally knew it.

Xiao Hong’s mother was too distressed. Seeing Xiao Hong talking with Su Li and the others, she slipped out to the doorway of the room.

She wept silently by herself.

Inside the room, under Su Li’s and Wu Sheng’s gazes, Wa Wa Lian stammered and stuttered his way through a slightly modified version of what he had told Wu Sheng, repeating it to Xiao Hong.

Xiao Hong listened, looking at Wa Wa Lian’s blushing face, and was stunned.

Especially when she heard him stammer that he hadn’t taken advantage of her plight.

She hadn’t expected that Wa Wa Lian wasn’t just acting on a momentary impulse to stand up for her, or just making a kind, casual remark.

Su Li, watching from the side, tugged on Wu Sheng’s sleeve. The two of them quietly backed out to let them talk.

At the doorway, they saw Xiao Hong’s mother hastily wiping her tears and forcing a smile. Su Li gave Wu Sheng a look, then helped him find a place to sit down.

Su Li silently sat with Xiao Hong’s mother for a while, and before long, the mother opened up and began to speak.

"I never thought Xiao Hong would go through something like this. We can’t cover it up even if we wanted to. Everyone knows..."

"I don’t know how people will look at her from now on... But no matter what, her father and I will always be her rock. We won’t let anyone bully her."

"Right now, I just hope she’s not... not pregnant. That Song Shengfu, that bastard who deserves to be cut into a thousand pieces! If he were in front of me, I could bite him to death!"

"My girl, who I worked so hard to raise so well... I used to be so happy that she was sought after by so many families. I never thought something like this could happen. He just... he just ruined our Xiao Hong!"

It was painful for Su Li to hear. "Auntie, please don’t worry. He will be punished by the law."

Song Shengfu’s fate would definitely not be a good one. Before leaving with Wu Sheng, Su Li had called Captain Zhang.

Song Shengfu was caught in the act. There was no shortage of physical evidence and witnesses, and he himself didn’t deny anything, confessing to it all. The only thing that was nauseatingly unacceptable was...

...he was clamoring for Xiao Hong to get pregnant and carry on the Old Song Family’s bloodline.

"...If she’s pregnant, you have to make her give birth to the child. I’ll give her money. My family is rich; we can afford to raise the child."

"Take the money and tell her she better not remarry. She’s my woman now. In life, she’s a person of the Song family; in death, she’s a ghost of the Song family. If she dares to remarry, I won’t let her go even as a ghost!"

Song Shengfu had forced Xiao Hong to bow to heaven and earth with him, and because of that, he claimed she had married him. He became agitated whenever he talked about it.

That agitated expression and those disgusting words made Captain Zhang feel suffocated with anger and utterly repulsed.

Of course, such nauseating words couldn’t be repeated to Xiao Hong and disgust her. In the end, it was just Song Shengfu’s empty blustering. He wouldn’t be allowed to see Xiao Hong again before he died.
