The sight of Wu Sheng had already scared Ye Xilan half to death, but what happened in the blink of an eye next made her blood run cold.

All the hairs on Ye Xilan’s body stood on end. She was gripped by a fear she had never known.

Wu Sheng’s gaze sent a jolt through Ye Xilan.

"You... Wu Sheng, what are you doing here?"

Ye Xilan asked, her voice trembling. The overwhelming killing intent rolling off him was so thick she could barely breathe.

She’d never felt true killing intent before. As Ye Xilan stared into Wu Sheng’s deep, cold eyes—the eyes of a man looking at a corpse—her entire body began to shake.

’I might... No, I’m really going to die. Wu Sheng is really going to kill me.’

Ye Xilan felt this with terrifying clarity.

"Why do you think I’m here?"

Wu Sheng answered in a low voice, striding forward. Before Ye Xilan’s wide, terrified eyes, he seized her by the throat.

The Wu Sheng of Ye Xilan’s dreams was handsome, exceptionally capable, and a man she could be proud of.

But she had never imagined that Wu Sheng’s hand could be so cold, so hard, so powerful. It was like iron. As he choked her, he lifted her clean off the ground.

"COUGH, COUGH..." Ye Xilan’s eyes bulged. She gasped for air, clawing desperately at Wu Sheng’s hand, but it was useless.

Like a fish out of water, Ye Xilan stared into Wu Sheng’s crimson, murder-filled eyes, her limbs flailing in a desperate death struggle.

The burly man at the side finally reacted. "Let go of the Madam!"

He shouted and lunged at Wu Sheng.

Wu Sheng whipped his head around and delivered a vicious spinning back kick.

The burly man, an expert who could easily handle ten ordinary men, was sent flying. He didn’t get up for a long time.

But his intervention had served its purpose. Just as Ye Xilan was about to be choked to death, Wu Sheng released his grip.

The interruption was enough to jolt Wu Sheng back to his senses.

Ye Xilan’s life was spared. Thrown to the ground, she gasped desperately for air, coughing and trying to scramble away.

But there was no escape.

She might have escaped death, but she couldn’t escape a living hell.

The next second, an unbearable pain wracked Ye Xilan’s body, and she let out a bloodcurdling scream, just like the old woman had.

Wu Sheng knew the human body. He knew all its weak points and exactly where to strike to inflict the most pain.

With maximum speed, Wu Sheng inflicted that agony upon Ye Xilan.

The brutal shattering of her arms and legs was only the beginning.

"AH... AHHH..." Shrill, nightmare-inducing screams erupted from Ye Xilan’s mouth.

Losing control of her bladder from the pain was just the start.

In an instant, her eyes turned completely red from the pain, her eyeballs threatening to bulge from their sockets. Her clear tears had turned to blood.

Ye Xilan had never known it was possible for a person to feel so much pain.

She screamed, and through her blood-red eyes, she saw Wu Sheng’s cold, indifferent gaze.

"It seems pain is the only way to make you remember. Then I’ll make you remember. Remember it for the rest of your life!"

Only by engraving this bone-deep agony into your memory will you never dare to act so recklessly again!

At that moment, Wu Sheng was as cold as an unfeeling, cold-blooded animal, with nothing but slaughter in his eyes.

"Wu Sheng..."

At that moment, Ye Xilan couldn’t bring herself to call him "my son."

And in that same moment, a single, lucid thought pierced through Ye Xilan’s agony—’This is not my son.’

’Not her son!’

Wu Sheng raised his hand to strike again but was suddenly grabbed from behind in a tight embrace.

"Boss, Boss, we have to save Su Li! Boss, snap out of it!"

Wu Sheng was about to throw the person off his back, but upon hearing Su Li’s name, clarity instantly returned to him.

Wu Sheng’s hand froze.

Wa Wa Lian, who was trembling from head to toe, felt as if he’d just been pulled back from the gates of hell when Wu Sheng didn’t throw him off.

"Boss, Boss! Su Li! Su Li! We have to save Su Li first..."

Wa Wa Lian repeated, his voice trembling as he held on to Wu Sheng for dear life.

A moment ago, Wu Sheng hadn’t seemed human at all. He was like a grim reaper.

If Wu Sheng lost control, everyone present combined might not be enough to stop him.

"Wu Sheng, it’s Su Li. Saving Su Li is what’s important."

Another voice joined in, trying to placate him.

Wu Sheng’s eyes shifted, and the dense killing intent within them finally began to recede.

He glanced back, removed Wa Wa Lian’s hands, and shoved Ye Xilan away as if she were a piece of trash, taking a sharp step back.

"Su Li."

Wu Sheng called out her name, the last of the killing intent vanishing from his eyes as he finally returned to normal.

"Su Li," he called again, lunging toward a large door nearby.

Seeing the large lock on the door, he raised and slammed his fist down, trying to break it open with his bare hands.

"Su Li, just hold on, I’m here. I’m coming to save you, just hold on..."

He slammed his fist down again and again, a sight that horrified Captain Zhang and the others who had come with him.

"Wu Sheng, find a tool or a rock to open it..."

Captain Zhang had just started to reason with him when he saw Tang Mo running over from the side, carrying a rock.

"Uncle, let me do it!"

The moment Wu Sheng stepped aside, Tang Mo fiercely smashed the rock against the large lock.

The lock was instantly smashed halfway open.

Wu Sheng shattered the remaining half with another brutal punch from his bare fist.

The door flew open. Wu Sheng was the first to charge in, with Tang Mo right behind him.

"Su Li..."

"Mom..."

As the two of them ran inside, Captain Zhang let out a small sigh of relief, doing his best to ignore the shrill screams of Mrs. Tang and Ye Xilan writhing on the ground.

He slapped his forehead and waved his hand. "Keep an eye on them..."

After speaking, he hurried in after them.

’Those three perpetrators were lucky to even be alive. In their condition, they couldn’t escape even if you gave them a plane. What was the point of watching them...’

Still, Captain Zhang had said it just to go through the motions.

Recalling the scene from moments before, he still felt a chill run down his spine.

They had all arrived together, gotten out of the car at the same time, but in the blink of an eye, Wu Sheng had shot forward like a cheetah, leaving them far behind.

Captain Zhang saw the look on Wu Sheng’s face and knew things were about to get ugly. He could understand Wu Sheng’s desire to kill, but he still had to stop him.

In the end, they ran as fast as they could to catch up, but they were only a few dozen seconds too late. It was all over.

Wu Sheng’s movements had been too fast. By the time they arrived, it was too late to intervene...

Captain Zhang’s annoyance and regret vanished the instant he saw Su Li.

’Wicked people get what they deserve. It serves them right!’

’Those three outside deserved to die!’

’They got off easy by not dying!’

No one had expected Su Li to be held in a place like this—a location that was, in its own way, quite conspicuous.

Su Li was right in the city, in an area that wasn’t even remote. If this place hadn’t been slated for demolition, it would have been impossible to hide someone here.

But this was precisely where she had been hidden.

It was a perfect example of hiding in plain sight.

When Wu Sheng threw open the wooden trapdoor and saw Su Li lying below, barely breathing, his eyes nearly burst from their sockets and his heart felt like it was being twisted by a knife.

’His Su Li... his Su Li...’
