From Dying in the Apocalypse to Being Chased by My S-Class Ex-Fiancé!
Chapter 110: Drey Gave Him Privileged Offers!
Ethan’s throat immediately went dry.
Being called into Principal Ronan’s office was never a good sign. He dreaded being called by this man because it was never for anything good.
In fact, Ethan had already registered that whenever this man specifically called for him, there was usually a problem waiting on the other side of that door, and considering everything that had happened recently, there were far too many possibilities for what this particular problem could be.
He looked at Ronan with a wary expression. "Principal Ronan, what happened?"
"You’ll find out when we get to my office." Ronan replied simply
That answer only made Ethan more suspicious and did absolutely nothing to ease his nerves.
He glanced toward Rin, who was still standing nearby, before giving his best friend a small wave.
"I’ll see you later."
"Yeah, go before you make the principal wait," Rin replied, though the amusement in his eyes suggested that he was enjoying Ethan’s predicament a little too much.
Ethan gave him a look before turning around and following Ronan.
As they walked toward the principal’s office, countless possibilities began racing through Ethan’s mind.
What could he possibly have done this time?
Had the academy somehow discovered what he and Jake had done at the Research Facility?
That was the first possibility that came to mind.
Maybe someone had reported them.
Maybe the Association had discovered that he, Jake, and Lara had been there and reported them to the academy.
The thought immediately made his steps feel heavier.
No.
If that were the case, wouldn’t Ronan have confronted him in front of everyone instead of quietly taking him to his office?
Then again, it was still a possibility.
Ethan’s mind immediately shifted to Leon.
Could this be about the fight a day before?
He had punched Leon, after all.
Or was it today’s incident?
But the punishment for today’s incident had already been scheduled for later, so that couldn’t be it either.
Then what the hell was this about?
Ethan kept thinking, trying to connect every possible incident in his mind, but before he could reach a conclusion, they had already arrived at Ronan’s office.
The principal opened the door and walked inside.
Ethan followed behind him.
The moment the door closed behind them, Ethan stood there cautiously, waiting for Ronan to explain why he had dragged him away from the crowd.
Instead, Ronan looked directly at him and asked the most unexpected question possible.
"Is there something going on between you and Lord Drey that I should know about?"
Ethan blinked in outmost confusion.
Ronan continued in a completely serious expression, before Ethan could even process the question.
"Have the two of you rekindled your relationship?"
For several seconds, Ethan simply stared at him. Then his expression slowly twisted into disbelief.
"What?"
Of all the things Ethan had expected to hear, that was nowhere on the list.
He almost felt disgusted just hearing it.
Where the hell had that question even come from?
"Why would you ask me something like that?" Ethan demanded, his brows furrowing. "What happened?"
Ronan studied him for a moment before finally answering. "Before Lord Drey left with the Association, he specifically mentioned that the second room in the high-rank S-class dormitory should be handed over to you."
Ethan’s expression froze.
Ronan continued.
"And that wasn’t all. He instructed that the respect, privileges, and other benefits normally reserved for him as an S-class Sentinel that he was had should be given to you now that he is no longer around."
Ethan stared at him.
For a moment, he genuinely wondered if he had heard correctly.
Drey?
Drey had said that?
The same Drey he had expected to be furious with him?
The same Drey who had just been taken away by the Association because of the condition Ethan himself had caused?
Ethan almost scoffed.
Was this some kind of joke?
Why was Drey’s reaction so completely different from what he had expected?
Ethan had expected Drey to be furious with him.
Hell no, considering what had happened, if anything, Ethan had been preparing himself for the possibility that Drey might blame him for what had happened and report him to the association.
Yet instead, before leaving the academy, Drey had apparently ordered the academy to give Ethan his room, his privileges, and even the treatment reserved for someone of his rank.
What the hell was going on?
Ethan narrowed his eyes. "Are you sure of what you are saying?" He finally asked Ronan.
Ronan raised an eyebrow. "Why wouldn’t I be?"
Ethan’s lips twitched. "This doesn’t make any sense." He shook his head as he continued. "Principal, there hasn’t been any change in our relationship."
Ronan raised an eyebrow.
Ethan continued, his voice becoming firmer. "Since the engagement was annulled, we’re practically strangers. There is absolutely nothing between us."
"Then how do you explain his order?"
"I don’t know."
Ethan continued, trying to find some reasonable explanation for this ridiculous situation. "Maybe he wasn’t in his right state of mind when he gave you those instructions."
Ronan’s expression darkened slightly.
Ethan quickly added, "He had a huge amount of corrupted miasma inside him. Maybe it affected his brain when he gave that order."
Ronan stared at him.
Ethan shrugged.
"Or maybe you heard him wrong."
The principal’s expression immediately became one of disbelief. "Are you insulting my intelligence?"
Ethan looked at him innocently.
"No."
"You just suggested that I misunderstood a direct order given by an Drey before he was taken away by the Association."
"I said maybe."
Ronan narrowed his eyes.
Ethan sighed again.
There was clearly no point arguing over something he couldn’t explain himself.
He still couldn’t understand why Drey would suddenly make such an order, especially after everything that had happened between them.
Perhaps there really was something he was missing.
Or perhaps Drey had simply lost his mind.
Either way, Ethan didn’t want any part of it.
"Okay," he finally said, rubbing his forehead. "Even if it’s true, I’m not accepting anything from him."
Ronan’s eyes narrowed.
Ethan met his gaze without hesitation.
"So please, in whatever way possible, let him know that I’m not accepting it."
