The back of the fruit was different.

Ethan narrowed his eyes as he examined it more carefully, running his fingers over the smooth surface. There was a faint separation along the outer layer that he had completely overlooked before, almost like the fruit had another layer covering the actual edible part inside. The realization slowly dawned on him, and his eyes widened slightly.

"Wait..."

He turned the fruit around and looked at it again.

Could it be that this wasn’t actually the part he was supposed to be channeling his energy into?

Ethan’s expression brightened as he tested his assumption. If the Purplelet had a hard outer covering protecting the actual fruit inside, then perhaps he had been trying to infuse the wrong layer all along.

"Maybe this is just the back," he muttered, turning it around in his hand. "And I have to peel it to get to the actual fruit."

He immediately tried using his fingers to peel it.

The moment he started, however, his expression changed.

"Ah!"

The outer layer was far harder than he expected. He dug his fingernails into it and tried to pull, but the covering barely moved. Instead, the rough edge scraped against his fingers, and the pressure quickly became painful enough to make him pull his hand back.

Ethan stared at his fingertips before looking at the Purplelet again with disbelief.

"What the hell is this made of?"

He tried again, this time putting more strength into it, but the result was the same. The covering refused to cooperate, and the harder he tried to tear it with his bare hands, the more it hurt.

After struggling with it for a while, Ethan finally gave up.

"Fine. If you want to be difficult, I’ll use a knife."

He got up and went to retrieve one before returning to his spot with the Purplelet in hand. This time, instead of trying to fight with the tough outer covering using his fingers, he carefully used the knife to peel it away.

It took some effort, but the moment the outer layer finally came off, Ethan’s eyes widened.

Beneath the hard covering was a completely different-looking fruit.

The inside was much softer, with a smooth, juicy appearance that immediately made it look edible. The deep purple outer layer had hidden the actual fruit beneath it, and now that the covering was gone, the inside looked soft enough to maybe absorb his spiritual energy.

Ethan stared at it for a few seconds before a satisfied smile slowly spread across his face.

"Yes."

He nodded to himself, feeling a burst of excitement.

"My assumption was correct."

The hard outer layer had only been a protective covering. The actual edible part of the Purplelet was hidden beneath it, and that was what he needed to infuse with spiritual energy.

Ethan carefully placed the knife aside and picked up the peeled Purplelet again. This time, he didn’t rush.

He closed his eyes and concentrated deeply, directing his spiritual energy toward the softer fruit inside rather than the tough outer covering that had rejected him earlier. He focused on the flow of his energy, carefully guiding it into the edible portion while making sure not to waste even a trace of it.

His spiritual energy immediately began to sink into the fruit.

Ethan’s eyes snapped open.

It worked!

The spiritual energy continued flowing into the Purplelet, gradually spreading through the juicy interior until the entire fruit began responding to the energy he was channeling. The process was finally working exactly as it had with the apples, and Ethan could not help the relieved smile that appeared on his face.

"So that’s what I was doing wrong."

He had been trying to infuse the protective outer covering instead of the actual fruit hidden underneath it.

Now that he knew the secret, the rest of the process became much easier.

Ethan repeated the same process with the second Purplelet, carefully peeling away its hard outer covering with the knife before exposing the softer, juicy fruit inside. Once the edible portion was revealed, he concentrated deeply and channeled his spiritual energy into it.

This time, the energy entered without resistance.

The same thing happened with the third Purplelet. And after finishing all three, Ethan carefully gathered them together.

With the three newly infused Purplelets in his hands, he moved to the location where he had planted the spiritual apple tree. He had already found the spot suitable for growing spiritual fruits, so he decided to plant the three Purplelets there as well.

Ethan dug into the ground and carefully planted the three fruits between the area where he had planted the apple, spacing them out properly so they would have enough room. Once they were secured in the soil, he watered them in the same place he had watered the apple before, making sure the soil around them was properly damp.

When he was finally satisfied, Ethan stepped back and looked at the three Purplelets he had planted.

He let out a long sigh.

"Hopefully this works."

There was nothing else he could do for now except wait and see what happened.

Ethan wiped his hands and finally decided to leave his dungeon.

However, the moment he stepped back into his room, he immediately realized something was wrong.

It was already the next day.

Ethan blinked and looked around, confused by how quickly the time seemed to have passed. He had entered his dungeon intending to prepare the fruits and had expected to spend some time there, but he had not realized just how much time he had actually used.

He quick checked the time on his phone and to his dispair fifteen minutes had already passed the time his class was supposed to start.

"Wait..."

Ethan stared at the time in disbelief.

"Did I really spend that much time in my dungeon?"

There was no time to think about it.

Ethan hurriedly freshened up, practically throwing himself through the process as he got ready for class. He barely had time to think about anything else before grabbing what he needed and rushing out.

He practically ran toward his class, desperately hoping that whoever was lecturing them hadn’t arrived yet.
