From Human to Skeleton: Revived with Infinite System Crystals
Chapter 834 - 834: The Signer Still Answers
The signer still answered.
The line came without sound or spectacle. It placed a maintenance mark beside the sealed name, as if someone still kept the old rule oiled.
Old things were easier to hate when they stayed dead.
An active answer meant maintenance. It meant a hand near the switch, even if that hand was only an old process pretending to be one. Ty felt the difference under his feet.
Omina stepped closer to the drawer.
"Keep the ping closed unless scope requires contact."
The drawer marked that the ping had already returned.
Omina stayed where she was.
"No further contact until containment has a rule."
Zunoder took the opening.
"The signer can certify reset scope for this hearing."
Omina answered without looking away from the drawer.
"The signer can contaminate current scope before certification."
The drawer accepted both possibilities.
JJ leaned back in her chair.
"That is every bad ex with a filing cabinet."
Caelin's aide almost smiled, then remembered the feed was open.
The public never received the full signer line. Caelin limited the caption to old signer status partial. It helped less than he wanted. The crowd had already joined king, hunter, world, and door into one shape.
His screen stacked the public's new toys into one ugly string: king hunter, world bone, open old signer, make him answer.
Waddell read the phrases and looked at the ceiling.
"I miss when people only misunderstood newspaper headlines."
Jade's shelter feed stayed quieter. Calm had nothing to do with it. She and Anika had forced the room around them to keep eating, and eating gave people less room to chant.
Anika kept moving between tables with the pot tucked against her hip. Every time a screen drew too many eyes, she put food in front of someone. It was not dramatic enough for the drawer to value properly. It worked anyway.
A little girl near the back tried to whisper king hunter with a mouth full of rice.
Anika tapped the table once.
"Swallow first, then decide whether strangers deserve your lunch."
The girl swallowed and looked embarrassed instead of excited.
Jade saw it and kept her face plain. Small victories became targets when adults celebrated them too loudly.
Mara stared at the signer line.
Rose watched Mara more than the drawer.
Omina lowered her voice.
"Risk only, Mara, and only what this room needs."
Mara's fingers pressed into the table.
"If tied to Alexira, the signer may certify separation."
Omina waited.
Mara forced the next part out.
"If used here, it may make Ty easier to handle as a thing."
Her voice stayed even until the last word.
Thing cracked it.
The drawer caught the crack and tried to mark emotional instability.
Rose spoke before the mark finished.
"Witness fear is relevant to archive category, not instability."
The correction entered with the risk. Post-reset thing frame.
Ty felt a laugh try to rise in the wrong shape.
Thing.
At least the file was becoming less polite.
Omina wrote the boundary in plain language. Ty was not post-reset property.
The drawer resisted property.
Property had weight.
It settled on a narrower line. Post-reset property status was denied pending proof.
JJ pointed at the entry.
"That is ugly enough for everyone to see."
Zunoder turned to Ty.
"The signer may protect you from prior guilt."
There it was. The offer dressed like protection.
The signer could cut Kieran away and quiet the crowd calling Ty the world hunter. It could pull old guilt out of the route using his name. Worst of all, it could let the law that erased people decide which parts of him were convenient to keep.
Ty looked at Kieran's category lock.
Presence, use, and benefit acknowledged.
Command and release unproven.
Debt active.
If the signer cut the debt away, the room might get easier. Ty's body wanted easier. His knees and jaw wanted it. The place where the boot mark drank from him wanted any answer that would stop the slow taking.
Want left the answer dirty, and Ty had to repeat that inside his own head because the room rewarded clean outcomes. It cared about the route only when someone forced it to look.
The signer offer pressed on him harder because it sounded useful. It promised less public noise. It promised a cleaner split between Kieran's debt and Ty's body. It promised an argument Zunoder would have to respect for at least a few minutes.
Those were real things.
That made the offer worse.
Bad bargains worked best when they paid something up front.
He checked his own hands as if a better answer might be hiding there. The missing finger stayed an absence rather than property. The bones in his wrist still held the ache of protected refusals. He stayed with those small facts because they gave him something harder to fake than certainty.
Kieran's line entered before Ty spoke.
Do not buy innocence with erasure.
Omina's eyes shifted to Ty.
The record had refused cleaning before Ty had to ask for it.
Ty nodded once.
"No signer contact while erasure remains the price."
The drawer flared hard.
The refusal entered with cost, leaving the reset law challenge open, increasing public title combination, and keeping Kieran's debt attached as pressure.
Zunoder looked pleased.
"Again, he refuses the authority that could free him."
Ty answered before Omina could.
"It would protect the wrong thing from the wrong cost."
The drawer gave his claim low weight.
JJ tapped her pencil against the page.
"I am charging the drawer every time it says low."
Omina added the stronger frame. The refusal preserved the non-erasure position.
The drawer gave that moderate weight because Kieran's record had locked debt first.
Ty saw JJ notice. She looked less angry for half a breath.
The signer remained active, closed but available if someone paid enough wrong costs.
Zunoder moved to the center of the review space.
"Every refusal protects someone, and every refusal leaves the route ahead."
The drawer liked his summary.
Omina cut it apart before it hardened.
"Caller audio remains sealed because caller protection still holds."
The drawer entered it.
"Sealed item remains asleep under non override interest."
The drawer entered it.
"Finger absence remains contested because he refused property framing."
The drawer entered it.
"Signer contact remains closed under the non erasure position."
The drawer entered it.
Then Omina wrote the sentence that made the room slow.
The route using his name held advantage because Ty refused to win by becoming easier to use.
The drawer resisted.
The room held.
Yun-Jin stood beside Ty. JJ's marked wrist stayed on the table. Jade kept her shelter quiet. Mara looked at the signer line without offering herself as a key. Kieran's locked debt remained on the page.
It was not a grand stand. No one looked victorious. The room was full of people holding ugly positions because every clean position had teeth hidden in it.
Ty understood that better than he wanted to.
He had spent half the review wishing for a single answer strong enough to make the old route shut up. Now every strong answer arrived with a handle on it.
The drawer gave the sentence moderate weight.
Ty felt it enter like a floorboard taking weight.
Zunoder's expression cooled.
"Moderate leaves the route ahead, and that still matters."
Omina gave him the truth without softening it.
"Yes, and it also says why the route is ahead."
The preserved state entered in one line. The route still had advantage while body uncertainty stayed active, caller distress remained sealed, title authority slept, reset law stayed open, and public contamination escalated.
JJ looked at the list.
"That is a terrible scoreboard with honest handwriting."
Ty looked at it too.
Terrible was not the same as false.
The list showed the places he lacked reach. Caller distress belonged behind limits, title authority belonged asleep, reset law needed containment, and public contamination needed boredom, food, and ugly captions.
None of that won the case. It kept the room from pretending one dramatic answer could clean the mess.
Omina asked the drawer for the next required issue.
The drawer gave title pressure consolidation.
Zunoder's eyes moved to Ty's skull, then to the boot mark, then to the sealed item reference.
"If he refuses king opening, the route may ask whether king already opened."
Ty felt the title pressure gather before the drawer named it. It was different from the signer. The signer tempted him with relief. The title came like a hand already resting on his shoulder, waiting for someone to argue that it had always belonged there.
He looked at Omina.
She had no comfort ready.
Good.
Comfort would have made the title sound survivable.
The Skeleton King title check began.
