From the Metropolis to the Strongest in the Cosmos

Chapter 493: Disassociating from Li Yang

  • Next Chapter

Mo Xian casually gave Li Yang an order, then prepared to sit down and have a proper discussion with Pu Waka about forming a team.

He was confident Pu Waka wouldn’t refuse his offer.

But just as Mo Xian was about to sit down with a smile on his face, Li Yang, who was next to Pu Waka, didn’t budge.

“Hm?”

The smile on Mo Xian’s face vanished at the sight. Frowning slightly, he looked at Li Yang and said, “Didn’t you hear me?”

He, the feared and respected Mo Xian—his words had just been ignored?

Mo Xian came from a powerful background. His own brother was a genius who had been honing his skills in the Slaughter Battlefield for hundreds of thousands of years, and he had the power of a Dual Pantheon Deity.

Previously, in the simulated Slaughter Battlefield, Mo Xian had been the center of attention. Among the World Realm experts entering the Slaughter Battlefield this time, his standing was undoubtedly among the very top.

One could tell from the crowd’s expressions, yet here he was, being completely ignored.

“That middle-aged man has some nerve, completely ignoring Mo Xian.”

“Mo Xian’s background is immense; he’s from a Tri-System Deities power, and his brother is a Dual Pantheon Deity. That middle-aged man, on the other hand, is a complete unknown. And he’s so old, his background must be ordinary. How could he be so audacious?”

“He’s probably just some country bumpkin. Being at the Peak of the World Realm might let you lord over some remote corner of the universe, but it counts for nothing here.”

“Right, everyone here is at least at the Peak of the World Realm.”

“Mo Xian is not a forgiving person. He’s the type to get revenge for the smallest slight. That middle-aged man is in for a world of pain once they enter the Slaughter Battlefield.”

Everyone present looked over, murmuring amongst themselves.

Numerous gazes turned toward them, and the sound of their discussions drifted over.

At this moment, Li Yang finally looked at Mo Xian, his expression calm. “Were you talking to me?”

A cold sneer touched Mo Xian’s lips. “So you’re just hard of hearing. I told you to leave this spot and sit somewhere else. You hear me now?”

He crossed his arms, looking down at Li Yang with a condescending air.

Li Yang nodded at his words. Seeing this, a mocking smile instantly formed on Mo Xian’s lips.

‘So he was just doing it for attention. I knew it. A middle-aged man like him, with no apparent background, could never defy my command.’

However, the sneer had barely formed when Li Yang spoke. “Sorry, this is my seat. I don’t plan on giving it up.”

It was laughable. Li Yang wasn’t the type to shy away from trouble. If the man had asked politely for the seat, Li Yang wouldn’t have minded moving. But Mo Xian had used a tone of command, so of course Li Yang wasn’t going to obey.

With his current power, he was in the upper-middle echelons of the Slaughter Battlefield itself, and practically invincible in its outer regions. There was no need to be courteous.

“Hm? You don’t plan on giving it up?”

The sneer that had just returned to Mo Xian’s lips vanished, replaced by an incredibly grim expression.

Beside Li Yang, the young man known as Black Shield was completely stunned.

Just moments ago, he had been thrilled that both Pu Waka and Mo Xian had come over to their table, thinking it was a golden opportunity to make connections. But in an instant, Li Yang had started a conflict with Mo Xian.

After a slight hesitation, he quickly stood up, tugged on Li Yang, and said to Mo Xian, “My apologies, Young Master Mo Xian. We’ll leave right away.”

He quickly sent a mental message to Li Yang: “Mu Xu, are you insane? This is Mo Xian! He’s from a Tri-System Deities power, and his brother is a Dual Pantheon Deity! If you offend him, he’ll just find his brother in the Slaughter Battlefield to come after you. You won’t stand a chance!”

Within the Slaughter Battlefield, members of the Human Race were forbidden from killing one another. However, it was impossible for there to be no conflicts, and a few scuffles were perfectly normal.

The Slaughter Battlefield was so vast; even if someone made a move, no one else would find out.

Black Shield was extremely anxious, wondering what had gotten into the Mu Xu he had just met.

In truth, Tri-System Deities were already incredibly powerful.

As for human Four-Element Deities and Five Elemental Deities, they were almost exclusively found within the Human Race’s Eternal Saint Hall and the Hunyuan Martial Dao Saint Realm.

On any given Star Continent of the Human Race, aside from its Emperor, the most powerful beings were the Deities, and the Tri-System Deities were almost always the strongest among them.

For example, on the Yangyuan Star Continent, the Yangyuan Empire commanded fewer than ten Tri-System Deities.

A power backed by Tri-System Deities was considered one of the absolute top factions on any Star Continent.

But he had just formed a team with Mu Xu; he couldn’t just stand by and watch Li Yang offend Mo Xian and come to a bad end.

He tugged at Li Yang, trying to get him to leave.

But Li Yang didn’t move.

“Black Shield, this doesn’t concern you,” Li Yang sent via voice transmission.

Even the strongest expert in the Deity faction behind Mo Xian was no match for him. Why would he care about Mo Xian himself?

Though he was currently disguised, Li Yang had come to the Slaughter Battlefield with no intention of staying under the radar. He wasn’t going to lie low and tolerate every provocation just to avoid exposing his identity.

Even if he drew the attention of the Alien Race now, it didn’t matter. Once he entered the Slaughter Battlefield and made his first move, the Alien Race would immediately notice him—a newly arrived Deity—anyway.

“Heh, Black Shield. Looks like this guy has no respect for you,” Mo Xian sneered when he saw Black Shield step forward.

Black Shield’s Celestial Profound Sect was also a power backed by Tri-System Deities, no weaker than the one behind Mo Xian, so of course he knew who Black Shield was.

However, Black Shield’s status was nowhere near his own.

As Black Shield grew anxious, the cold young woman from the Foxman Race beside him, Ling Yue, watched the scene and finally spoke. “Black Shield, we just met Mu Xu. We’re not even friends. We shouldn’t get involved in his affairs.”

With her first words, she drew a clear line between them and the audacious Mu Xu.

At this moment, Ling Yue frowned to herself. ‘Is Black Shield a fool? Why would he offend Mo Xian for someone we just met?’

‘Although our backing is strong—no weaker than Mo Xian’s—we ourselves are nothing compared to him.’

‘We’re just ordinary World Realm cultivators. Mo Xian, on the other hand, is nearly a Deity in his own right, and his brother is a Dual Pantheon Deity. How stupid would it be to offend him for a complete stranger?’

‘Black Shield is still too naive. Why did our master give him command of the team?’

Ling Yue, the girl from the Foxman Race, sighed to herself. They hadn’t even entered the Slaughter Battlefield, and they had already offended Mo Xian. Who knew what schemes he might cook up against them now?

“Ling Yue, Mu Xu is our teammate,” the young man, Black Shield, said hastily.

“A teammate we just invited, and one who took a lot of convincing at that,” Ling Yue said, shaking her head with a frown. “Black Shield, are you trying to cause trouble for us?”
