From the Metropolis to the Strongest in the Cosmos
Chapter 496: Better to Kill by Mistake Than to Let One Escape
The Slaughter Battlefield was not located near the territory of the Human Race, but in a rather distant place.
Once the announcement was made, many people sat right down and began their cultivation.
‘Twenty days, huh?’ Li Yang did the same, sitting down cross-legged.
“Li Yang, that Mo Xian fellow keeps staring at you. I’m guessing his brother will come for you once you enter the Slaughter Battlefield,” Soul Ink said calmly.
Li Yang glanced over at Mo Xian. When Mo Xian saw him looking, a cold sneer instantly touched the corners of his mouth before he looked away.
“So what if he comes? I’ll just teach him a lesson and send him on his way,” Li Yang said dismissively. He didn’t give it another thought, simply sitting down cross-legged and beginning to comprehend the laws.
He didn’t consider Mo Xian’s brother a threat in the slightest and certainly wouldn’t waste his own time on the matter.
…
Meanwhile, Mo Xian’s eyes were filled with icy coldness.
“Senior Brother Mo Xian, when we get to the Slaughter Battlefield, should we follow that Mu Xu and teach him a lesson?” someone next to Mo Xian asked.
Hearing this, Mo Xian mused for a moment. “Not for now.”
He said gravely, “This Mu Xu isn’t afraid of me, which means he probably has an ace up his sleeve.”
Although Mo Xian was arrogant, he wasn’t an idiot. If Mu Xu dared to provoke him, he must be quite strong. They might not be able to handle him on their own.
“I’ve already contacted my older brother. He’ll arrive when we enter the Slaughter Battlefield. When that happens, this Mu Xu will be completely defenseless!”
His older brother was a Dual Pantheon Deity.
This Mu Xu had an unfamiliar face. He had checked before; there was no Deity named Mu Xu.
Generally, Deities have some renown and aren’t completely unknown. Therefore, this Mu Xu must be at the World Realm.
And no matter how you estimated it, someone at the World Realm could at best rival an ordinary Deity. He wasn’t worried in the slightest.
“Oh?”
Hearing Mo Xian’s words, the person next to him said excitedly, “With Lord Mo Xuan making a move, that Mu Xu won’t stand a chance!”
“Hmph!”
Mo Xian sneered, “I’d like to see the look on Mu Xu’s face when my brother arrives.”
He had already explained the situation here in detail to his older brother. His brother could reach the edge of the Slaughter Battlefield in exactly twenty days.
Mo Xian sneered inwardly. ‘If you want to act tough, you need the strength to back it up. If you don’t, then I’ll just have to teach this Mu Xu a lesson he won’t forget.’
…
Time flew by. Inside the massive spacecraft, with the Tri-System Deity, Heng Lu, present, no one dared to cause any trouble.
In this way, twenty days passed quickly.
Ahead, they passed through a massive portal. The spacecraft flew out of the enormous entrance and arrived in a unique region.
‘We’ve arrived?’ The spacecraft’s hatch opened, and Li Yang and the others all stepped out.
‘So this is the Slaughter Battlefield?’ Li Yang took in the scene before him.
Upon arriving, the scene before his eyes had changed drastically.
The first difference was the sky. The entire Slaughter Battlefield had no light source, making it look dim and gray. Debris, wreckage, and shattered rocks floated above, resembling the ruins of a great war.
In addition, Li Yang immediately felt a powerful gravitational pressure.
Under this gravitational pressure, he felt as if something was weighing him down, and it was clearly uncomfortable.
‘Is this the Slaughter Battlefield’s unique gravitational pressure?’ Li Yang tested the feeling.
Under this oppression, even the speed of his blood circulation seemed to quicken.
However, the gravitational pressure wasn’t overwhelming. Li Yang only felt discomfort initially and adapted within a few seconds.
The Slaughter Battlefield had two great benefits: a gravitational pressure that helped temper the physical body, and a strange magnetic field that aided cultivation. Li Yang could feel the gravitational pressure now, but not the magnetic field.
WHOOSH!
In the distance, a few figures flew past, their gazes turning towards them.
“Another batch entering the Slaughter Battlefield.”
“New members arrive every so often.”
“After a hundred years, I wonder how many of these new members will be left.”
These few people glanced over, then quickly flew off into the distance.
“We have arrived at the Slaughter Battlefield.”
As everyone looked over, the Deity, Heng Lu, spoke, “If you wish to leave the Slaughter Battlefield, this is also the exit.”
“This surrounding area is all within our Human Race’s territory, so you don’t need to worry about safety. You will only encounter the Alien Races once you travel far from this area.”
Although the Slaughter Battlefield didn’t belong to any particular race, its peripheral zones were still occupied by various factions.
For example, this current area belonged completely to the Human Race.
If this weren’t the case, the Alien Races could simply camp by the exit and kill new members of the Human Race as they arrived. The Human Race would never allow such a thing to happen.
Many who didn’t dare to truly temper themselves were concentrated here, cultivating in peace.
Cultivating in the Slaughter Battlefield was indeed more effective than in the outside world. Of course, cultivating peacefully couldn’t compare to the rapid progress made through life-and-death combat.
Still, most people would choose to engage in combat, seeking opportunities for a breakthrough.
“Alright, we have arrived at our destination. I wish you all the best in surviving the Slaughter Battlefield.”
The Tri-System Deity, Heng Lu, swept his gaze over everyone present.
The probability that everyone present would survive the Slaughter Battlefield was practically zero.
After speaking, the Tri-System Deity, Heng Lu, wasted no more words. He boarded the spacecraft and departed immediately, leaving Li Yang and the new arrivals behind.
…
In a region far from Li Yang and the others’ location, two powerful experts were quietly waiting inside a hidden mountain peak.
Surprisingly, neither of these two experts was human. One was a giant black wolf with fur like steel needles.
The other was a leopard-like creature with three eyes of different colors, making it look incredibly bizarre.
From their appearance, it was clear that both experts were from the Demon Race.
“A new batch of Human Race members has entered the Slaughter Battlefield.”
“Report it up. Let’s see what Lord Wilderness arranges.”
The two demonic beasts discussed as they reported the news.
At that moment, within the Demon Race’s domain, the giant python’s expression was icy, its eyes radiating a brutally fierce aura as it received the report from the Slaughter Battlefield.
“You two idiots! Of course you make a move!”
Wilderness’s face was grim.
“Based on my calculations, the human Li Yang should be entering the Slaughter Battlefield within the next few years. Better to kill the wrong person than let the right one escape! Any new member of the Human Race who displays power approaching or slightly exceeding that of a Dual Pantheon Deity is very likely the human Li Yang in disguise!”
“There are many treasures used for disguise. The human Li Yang won’t enter the Slaughter Battlefield using his real face. But while his appearance can be faked, his power level absolutely cannot.”
“Anyone whose strength falls within the estimated range is a target for suspicion.”
