From the Metropolis to the Strongest in the Cosmos
Chapter 502: Li Yang's Deity Servant
Everyone stared in awe at the figure in the void, long spear in hand.
But beyond their shock, their eyes also filled with the joy of having survived their ordeal.
Just a moment ago, those members of the Demon Race had been trying to kill them.
Now that the two Demon Race Deities were dead, they were safe.
As they rejoiced, the expressions of the brothers Mo Xuan and Mo Xian were in constant flux. Mo Xian, especially, was a mask of panic.
‘How… How is this possible? How can Mu Xu be this strong?’
He had been so arrogant before Mu Xu, even vowing to spare him only if he knelt and begged for mercy.
And now, Mu Xu had revealed such terrifying strength!
His big brother, his greatest pride, was no match for either of the two Demon Race Deities. But in Mu Xu’s hands, neither of those Deities could last more than three moves!
What did that even mean? Could the Mu Xu before him rival a Four-Element Deity?
With that level of strength, on the entire Fire Liao Star Continent, Mu Xu would be the strongest person besides the Fire Liao Emperor!
Even their own Sect Master would have to be incredibly respectful when meeting such an expert, yet he had been reckless enough to provoke him repeatedly.
While Mo Xian panicked, Mo Xuan’s expression was also in turmoil.
He was always so careful on the Slaughter Battlefield, but he never expected to stumble in a place like this—the very edge of the battlefield.
As the brothers’ expressions shifted, Li Yang’s gaze fell upon them.
“Mo Xuan. Mo Xian. Get over here!”
Li Yang said, his gaze icy, “The Demon Race has been dealt with. Now, let’s settle the matter between us.”
He had been waiting for the Demon Race Deities to arrive before making his move, which was why he hadn’t bothered with Mo Xuan and Mo Xian.
But now that the Demon Race was gone, there was no way he was going to let these brothers off the hook.
‘One hundred thousand years of servitude and a Divine Artifact. If I had been any weaker, I would have had no power to resist and would have been forced to accept Mo Xuan’s terms.’
Li Yang wasn’t so good-natured as to forget the matter in the blink of an eye.
Hearing Li Yang’s words, Mo Xuan’s expression changed drastically. But he was decisive, immediately pulling his younger brother, Mo Xian, and flying over to stand before Li Yang.
“Mo Xian, kneel!” Mo Xuan roared as they arrived.
Hearing his older brother’s roar, Mo Xian didn’t dare hesitate for a second and immediately knelt.
At that moment, fear truly gripped his heart.
‘After how I treated Mu Xu, what if he decides to settle the score? Even my brother can’t withstand three of his moves.’
“Lord Mu Xu, I am deeply sorry for what happened earlier. I am here to offer you my sincere apology!” Mo Xuan said, bowing deeply and respectfully. All his previous arrogance was gone.
He could feel his back drenched in sweat. On the Slaughter Battlefield, death was all too common.
‘Those things I said to Mu Xu earlier… if he decides he wants me dead…’
‘The Slaughter Battlefield is so vast. If he killed me discreetly, who would ever know?’
And so, Mo Xuan was truly afraid. Afraid that Mu Xu would make a move against him.
“An apology?”
Looking at the bowed, respectful form of Mo Xuan, Li Yang said calmly, “Didn’t you have two conditions for me earlier? Not going to mention them now?”
Hearing this, Mo Xuan trembled with even greater fear. He inwardly cursed his brother for causing him to provoke such a powerful expert.
Seeing Mo Xuan trembling and too afraid to speak, Li Yang said calmly, “You gave me two conditions before. Now, I’ll give you two. If you agree, we can consider this matter settled.”
Upon hearing this, Mo Xuan quickly said, “Please, Lord Mu Xu, state your terms. I will obey them without question.”
He let out a quiet sigh of relief. If Mu Xu was willing to make a deal, it meant he likely had no intention of killing him.
And indeed, Li Yang had no intention of killing Mo Xuan, because he felt Mo Xuan could be useful.
He stated plainly, “The first condition is that you hand over your Divine Artifact.”
At this, Mo Xuan’s expression faltered, but he didn’t dare hesitate. He immediately stepped forward and said, “Lord Mu Xu, this is my Divine Artifact, the Broken Moon Blade.”
His life was far more important than any treasure. As long as he was alive, he could always find more.
Mo Xuan understood this principle deeply, so he handed it over without hesitation.
Taking the Divine Artifact, Li Yang scanned it with his soul, directly erased the consciousness imprinted within, and then put it away.
He looked at the respectfully standing Mo Xuan and continued, “The second condition: open your soul and allow me to leave an imprint. After one hundred thousand years, I will remove it.”
Hearing this, Mo Xuan’s expression twisted.
A Divine Artifact and one hundred thousand years of servitude… These were the exact conditions he had demanded of Mu Xu. Now, Mu Xu was demanding the same of him.
Mo Xuan didn’t know what to feel, but he dared not disobey. “I will obey Lord Mu Xu’s command,” he said.
He opened his soul, and Li Yang, without any ceremony, placed a soul imprint upon it.
As he felt the imprint settle, Mo Xuan gave a bitter mental smile. From now on, no matter where Mu Xu was, he could be killed with a single thought. It was safe to say his life was now completely in Mu Xu’s hands.
“Mu Xu left a soul imprint on Mo Xuan! Has he become… Mu Xu’s servant?”
“Lord Mu Xu’s two conditions are the exact ones Mo Xuan demanded from him earlier. Isn’t this a classic case of being hoisted by his own petard?”
…
The surroundings fell silent, but all eyes were fixed on them, watching as the powerful Mo Xuan handed over his Divine Artifact and became Mu Xu’s servant.
“Mm.”
Li Yang had his reasons for taking Mo Xuan under his control; it would be good to have an extra pair of eyes on the Slaughter Battlefield.
“You may go. From now on, you have only one mission: report immediately on any powerful Deities you encounter in your area of operations, especially those from the Alien Race.”
Li Yang ordered, looking at Mo Xuan.
‘I still haven’t found the Sky-Fierce Flood Dragon or the Thunder Star Beast. Maybe Mo Xuan will run into them. If he reports it, I can head over immediately. The Slaughter Battlefield is enormous; finding anyone is pure luck.’
“Yes, Lord Mu Xu.” Mo Xuan had accepted his fate. After becoming Li Yang’s servant, he was even more respectful.
‘Becoming a servant is humiliating, but I can endure it for a hundred thousand years. Besides, we’re both of the Human Race. With so many people watching, Mu Xu probably won’t kill me. At least my life is safe.’
Mo Xuan retreated, taking his terrified younger brother with him.
Mo Xian was indeed terrified. His brother, the person he admired most, was now a servant, his life hanging on another’s whim.
In that moment, Mo Xian was overwhelmed with regret.
‘It’s all my fault. If it weren’t for me, my brother wouldn’t be in this situation. If he hadn’t called his brother over, none of this would have happened.’
Watching Mo Xuan leave, Li Yang thought to himself, ‘I have a lead on the Sky-Fierce Flood Dragon now, but the Thunder Star Beast’s exact whereabouts are still a mystery. It seems I’ll need to rely on other information to track it down. Hopefully, Mo Xuan can find something useful as well.’
