Chapter 511: Testing Talent

“Crap, I’ve been detected!”

Li Yang’s expression changed slightly when he realized what was happening. He prepared to self-destruct.

However, his soul fluctuated faintly. Then, the strange energy receded like a tide, leaving the entire palace in tranquil silence. Nothing had happened.

‘Huh? Did… I pass?’ Li Yang was confused.

Ten seconds passed in an instant. Outside the palace, Elder Baleng and Lei Xuan were watching Li Yang. Lei Xuan remained expressionless, but Elder Baleng looked nervous.

He truly didn’t want there to be any problems with Li Yang’s identity.

If something were to happen to a genius of this caliber—one who could lead their branch to prominence—it would be a devastating blow to him.

After ten seconds passed with no incident in the Soul Hall, an incredibly brilliant smile bloomed on Elder Baleng’s face.

“Haha, Lord Lei Xuan! I told you Mu Xuan’s Talent is too strong for him to be the avatar of some powerful expert,” Elder Baleng said.

Generally, stronger Talent implies a stronger soul, and the soul of a created avatar is never particularly powerful.

In fact, he had carefully sensed the Thunder Star Beast Li Yang’s soul before, and it was very strong.

“Mm.”

Lord Lei Xuan nodded slightly, the powerful aura around him receding.

A moment ago, if there had been any issue with Li Yang’s identity, he would have struck him down on the spot!

As the two were speaking, the Thunder Star Beast Li Yang walked out of the Soul Hall.

“Haha, Mu Xuan! Congratulations on passing our race’s Soul Hall inspection! You are now officially one of us!” Elder Baleng boomed, looking at Li Yang.

‘I passed?’

Li Yang nodded, thinking to himself, ‘The perfect soul I cultivated with the mysterious small sword actually managed to evade the Thunder Star Beast race’s detection.’

He found it incredible, but of course, this was a very good thing!

Now, Li Yang had truly infiltrated the Thunder Star Beast race.

“Mu Xuan, this is your Identity Token! With this Token, your identity will be recorded within the race.”

Elder Baleng handed a black Token to Li Yang, who accepted it.

“The experts of our race can also use this Token to contact each other directly, even across vast distances. I’ve already entered my contact information. If you need anything, you can contact me directly.”

“Alright.” The Thunder Star Beast Li Yang nodded.

‘So this Token is like the wrist-mounted devices from the Human Race.’

Nearby, Lord Lei Xuan spoke up. “Mu Xuan, let me see the Token.”

At his words, Li Yang handed the Token over. Lei Xuan manipulated it briefly and said, “I’ve added my information as well. Mu Xuan, you can also contact me if you need anything in the future.”

“Yes, Lord Lei Xuan,” Li Yang nodded.

“Alright, we’ve arrived at the plaza. Mu Xuan, I’ll take you directly to the elders. All you have to do is wait for the test.”

Now that Li Yang’s identity had been verified without issue, the smile never left Elder Baleng’s face. He spoke with a hearty laugh.

Li Yang nodded and followed behind Elder Baleng.

Upon entering the plaza, he saw that it was filled almost exclusively with Thunder Star Beasts.

However, in one area, there were many faces from other Alien Races. There appeared to be more than twenty of them.

Noticing Li Yang’s gaze, Elder Baleng said with a smile, “Mu Xuan, those are the allied races. They’ve been invited to attend our talent convention.”

“In truth, it’s a chance for those races to see the caliber of geniuses our race has produced, and for us to show them off a bit. We also send our own experts to attend the talent conventions of other races.”

A race’s geniuses represent its future, so every race places great importance on them.

And the talent convention is one of the most important events for any race.

Li Yang nodded. As they spoke, the two arrived at a new location.

Not far away, a massive stone stele appeared, similar to the one Li Yang had once seen among the Star Moon Race!

‘Is that what the Thunder Spirit Race uses to test Talent?’ Li Yang wondered, looking at the massive stele.

The Star Moon Race’s Star Moon Stele could test one’s Talent for various laws. For the Four-Element Laws—time, space, Fire Element, and lightning—the stronger one’s Talent, the higher the light would shine. Depending on the level reached, one could even obtain treasures from within the Star Moon Stele!

Li Yang had once obtained a component of a Sacred Artifact from the Star Moon Stele, which had caused a massive stir at the time.

‘What exactly does this stele test?’ Li Yang wondered.

As he was thinking, Elder Baleng brought Li Yang to a stop.

A middle-aged man stood there. The power fluctuating faintly from his body was in no way inferior to Elder Baleng’s.

Clearly, this middle-aged man was at least one of the Four-Element Deities.

“Lu Kan, I’ve brought Mu Xuan from my branch to have his Talent tested,” Elder Baleng said to the middle-aged man with a smile.

“Mu Xuan? Is this the genius you found on the Slaughter Battlefield?”

The middle-aged man, Lu Kan, glanced at the Thunder Star Beast Li Yang as he spoke.

“That’s right. Mu Xuan just passed the Soul Hall’s inspection. There are no issues with his identity,” Elder Baleng said with a smile.

“Mm.”

Lu Kan nodded and said, “The elders have already given their instructions. However, there are still thirteen others to be tested. Mu Xuan will be last, so you’ll have to wait a little while.”

“Alright.”

Elder Baleng nodded and led the Thunder Star Beast Li Yang to a waiting area.

There were other young male and female Thunder Star Beasts there, each accompanied by a guardian. They looked at Li Yang with obvious curiosity.

Li Yang went to the back of the line and waited patiently.

“Ling Han, step up for the test.”

Lu Kan, the middle-aged man who had spoken with Elder Baleng earlier, announced from in front of the massive stone stele.

Instantly, the Thunder Star Beast at the front of the line stepped forward.

The young Thunder Star Beast’s eyes showed a mix of anticipation and apprehension.

The stele before him stood a thousand meters tall. On its surface were two streaks of tricolored light, both resting at the very bottom.

The entire stele was engraved with countless strange, mystical patterns.

Under the watchful eyes of the crowd, the young Thunder Star Beast named Ling Han stepped forward and placed his right hand on the stele.

HUMMM…

Instantly, the entire stele began to vibrate intensely, and the dots of light on its surface began to rise.

“Mu Xuan, this is our Thunder Star Beast race’s Talent-testing stele. The white dot of light represents time spent cultivating, the black dot represents cultivation realm, and the purple dot represents the degree of law comprehension. The rise of a single purple dot indicates the level of comprehension for one type of law…”

As Li Yang was watching, Elder Baleng’s voice suddenly sounded in his ear.

‘Specific cultivation time, realm, and law comprehension?’ Li Yang thought, watching with a hint of surprise.

‘This stele’s test is incredibly specific. It’s much more detailed than the Star Moon Race’s Star Moon Stele.’

‘After all, the Star Moon Stele could only give a rough estimate of a person’s potential.’
