Chapter 535 Li Yang's Reward

‘Is the inheritance over?’

After being teleported out of the Inheritance Space, Li Yang immediately came to his senses.

He looked at the inheritance portals, his heart filled with yearning.

Are you kidding? Its effect was even a bit stronger than the Human Race’s inheritance grounds. And while each session in the Human Race’s inheritance grounds only lasted ten days, Li Yang had stayed here for ten years!

This feeling of comprehending the profound truths of the Laws and improving so rapidly was just too wonderful. Li Yang wished he could keep doing it forever.

“The ten-year inheritance has concluded. Now evaluating the inheritor’s level of progress.”

After he was teleported out, another mechanical voice rang out. Then, a hazy, indistinct shadow materialized in front of Li Yang—the very same one he had seen before.

‘They’re assessing my level?’ Hearing this, Li Yang’s eyes lit up.

According to what the shadow had said earlier, based on an inheritor’s progress over ten years, they would be categorized as Ordinary, Genius, Powerful Genius, or Monstrous Genius. If one reached the level of a Monstrous Genius, they could choose a Sacred Artifact.

If they didn’t reach that level, they could at best choose a peak-grade Divine Artifact.

‘I wonder if I can reach the Monstrous Genius level?’

Li Yang couldn’t help but feel nervous.

‘I have the Time Divine Tree clone, the Fire Nether Divine Beast clone, and the Dark Insect King clone. My progress in the Laws of Time, Fire, and Darkness has been incredibly fast. Even for the Space Law, my Sky-Fierce Flood Dragon clone was born having mastered three profound truths, not to mention it’s constantly comprehending in the Sky-Fierce Flood Dragon clan’s own inheritance grounds… In terms of progress over these ten years, I estimate that throughout the endless eons, the number of people in the Cosmos who could surpass me can be counted on one hand.’

Li Yang was full of anticipation. Geniuses had obtained Sacred Artifacts from this super inheritance ground before, so if all went as expected, he should be able to get one too.

But until the very end, Li Yang wasn’t one hundred percent confident.

While he was lost in thought, the mechanical voice continued, “Inheritor’s level assessed as: Monstrous Genius. The Monstrous Genius rank is divided into Ordinary, Powerful, and Peak. These three levels correspond to the choice of an Ordinary Sacred Artifact, a Powerful Sacred Artifact, or a Peak-grade Sacred Artifact. The inheritor has been assessed as a Peak Monstrous Genius and may select one Peak-grade Sacred Artifact.”

The mechanical voice echoed in Li Yang’s ears. Hearing the first part of the announcement, his heart leaped with joy.

‘I reached the Monstrous Genius level!’

Having been assessed at this level, a Sacred Artifact was in the bag!

At this point, Li Yang only felt a slight sense of joy, since he had already anticipated this result.

But when he heard that the Monstrous Genius rank was further divided into grades, with “Peak” being one of them, Li Yang was a little puzzled. However, upon hearing the rest, his eyes suddenly lit up with incomparable excitement.

‘A Peak-grade Sacred Artifact!’

All weapons naturally have different tiers of power. For example, with an ordinary Divine Artifact, a Dual Pantheon Deity can typically unleash its full might with ease.

But with a peak-grade Divine Artifact, even a Four-Element Deity couldn’t fully unleash its power.

An ordinary Divine Artifact provides a limited power boost to an ordinary Deity. However, if an ordinary Deity were to use a peak-grade Divine Artifact, they could absolutely crush other opponents of the same rank!

By the same token, Sacred Artifacts also have different levels of strength.

The most common Sacred Artifacts were likely not much more powerful than peak-grade Divine Artifacts.

It was just like when Li Yang was with the Star Moon Race and had obtained a Divine Artifact Longsword from within the Star Moon Stele.

It was a broken piece of the Sacred Artifact, the Sword Net Array.

Without that longsword, the Sword Net Array was merely a peak-grade Divine Artifact.

But with the longsword added, it became an ordinary Sacred Artifact.

One could imagine that while an ordinary Sacred Artifact was much stronger than a peak-grade Divine Artifact, the difference was still limited.

As for higher-grade Sacred Artifacts, their power was naturally far more terrifying.

“The inheritance grounds hold seven peak-grade Sacred Artifacts…” the shadow stated in its mechanical voice as it looked at Li Yang.

BUZZ…

Space fluctuated, and then clusters of light appeared before Li Yang’s eyes. Inside each cluster was a weapon: there was a longsword, a battle blade, a suit of armor, a pair of combat boots, and more.

Information was also displayed above each cluster of light.

“Peak-grade Sacred Artifact: Saint Fall Sword”

“Peak-grade Sacred Artifact: Godslaying Blade”

“Peak-grade Sacred Artifact: Nine Extremes Armor”

“Peak-grade Sacred Artifact: Red Sky Combat Boots”

…

The descriptions were very brief, only stating the names of the Sacred Artifacts.

“Inheritor, please choose one within a minute…” After the seven peak-grade Sacred Artifacts appeared, the shadow said to Li Yang.

As Li Yang stared at the sight before him, his heart couldn’t help but start to pound.

Seven peak-grade Sacred Artifacts… Most Emperors didn’t even possess an ordinary Sacred Artifact, and as for peak-grade ones, the number of Emperors in the entire Cosmos who owned a weapon of this level could likely be counted on one hand.

These were weapons used by terrifying, Dominator-level existences!

According to Li Yang’s knowledge, the Profound Annihilation Spear he carried was also a peak-grade Sacred Artifact.

And now, seven of them had appeared before him at once!

‘Did the master of this super inheritance ground leave all of these behind?’ Li Yang couldn’t help but wonder.

To leave behind so many powerful Sacred Artifacts, the master of this inheritance ground was truly generous.

These various thoughts flashed through his mind and were gone. Now, Li Yang was focused on which weapon he should choose.

‘I already have the Sacred Artifact Profound Annihilation Spear, so I don’t need another offensive Sacred Artifact. My choice will definitely be either defensive or speed-related…’

Li Yang thought to himself, ‘And between those two, I choose speed!’

With that thought, Li Yang said directly, “I choose the Red Sky Combat Boots!”

Li Yang clearly had a plan.

‘I have an offensive Sacred Artifact, the Profound Annihilation Spear. If I add the Red Sky Combat Boots, combining offense and speed, I can completely pass myself off as an expert of a higher level!’

For example, before, with his foundation as a Tri-System Deity and possessing the Profound Annihilation Spear, his offensive power had completely reached the level of a Four-Element Deity!

But his defensive and speed-type weapons were lacking, so in reality, he was still a long way from being a true Four-Element Deity.

However, if Li Yang had possessed a speed-type Divine Artifact before, his speed would have also completely reached the level of a Four-Element Deity!

With both his offense and speed at that level, he could be fully considered a Four-Element Deity!

As for defense…

If he was fast enough, others’ attacks wouldn’t even be able to land on him. In that case, the usefulness of defensive armor was significantly reduced.

If he encountered a powerful enemy, the worst-case scenario was that he could just leave and not fight them.

Therefore, relatively speaking, a speed-type Sacred Artifact was more beneficial to Li Yang.

Fight if you can win, run if you can’t!

On the danger-filled Slaughter Battlefield, having greater speed meant his ability to survive would also be greatly enhanced!

Speed was king. Simply stacking defense might just turn him into a living target. Once an opponent tied him down, they might not be able to defeat him, but they could easily contact their clansmen to come and surround him.

Hearing Li Yang’s choice, the shadow nodded and said, “Very well.”

A cluster of light flew directly in front of Li Yang. The light faded, and a pair of white combat boots appeared before him.
