From Trash to Treasure: The Sinclair Family's Beloved Genius
Chapter 503 - 500: What Does the Car Zane Jordan Drove Have to Do With Me, Jasper Shaw?
Chloe Sinclair’s eyes widened. She couldn’t help but ask, "Jasper, why would you think that?"
Jasper Shaw sounded a little aggrieved. "That Wyatt Thorne... he’s younger than me."
Jasper Shaw had always known his and Chloe Sinclair’s age gap was significant. His line of work over the years had also left him a little out of touch with the times.
But after meeting Chloe Sinclair, he had been trying hard to learn.
He learned how to use WeChat and Weibo. He even avoided the kind of stickers old men use, searching for plenty of new ones on Weibo to save to his WeChat.
Every time Chloe Sinclair messaged him, he would send a sticker back.
But in the end, he’d slipped up because of his age.
Seeing the look on Jasper Shaw’s face, Chloe Sinclair immediately knew what he was thinking. She said softly, "Jasper, why would you ever think that?"
Chloe Sinclair looked at Jasper Shaw and said seriously, "I don’t care that you’re... older than me. Besides, what are you worried about? My dad and brothers have already given their approval. If I suddenly switched to a new boyfriend, they’d probably break my legs."
Jasper Shaw didn’t believe that for a second.
He knew just how much the Sinclair family doted on Chloe Sinclair.
If Chloe Sinclair were to break up with him, he figured Mr. Sinclair and her brothers would probably set off firecrackers to celebrate.
But hearing her say that still made him feel much better.
Still, the thought of Wyatt Thorne soured his mood. He couldn’t help but ask, "What’s the deal with this Wyatt Thorne guy anyway?"
Chloe Sinclair replied, "Wyatt Thorne has a very ambiguous relationship with Yuna Sutton. But on the surface, he hasn’t accepted her. He’s probably a ’Sea King’."
Jasper Shaw immediately leaned in and asked with a completely straight face, "What’s a ’Sea King’?"
Chloe Sinclair: "..."
’I forgot,’ she thought. ’That term doesn’t exist yet.’
"A ’Sea King’ is someone who’s two-timing with who knows how many people."
Put in such simple and easy-to-understand terms, Jasper Shaw finally got it.
He frowned slightly.
’When I get back, I have to get Ian to do a thorough investigation on this Wyatt Thorne,’ he thought.
He had a feeling that Wyatt Thorne showing up at this time wasn’t as simple as it seemed.
The two chatted about a few other things, but before they could finish, the car pulled up in front of the private kitchen restaurant from before.
Jasper Shaw got out of the car first, then helped Chloe Sinclair out.
While the two were eating in a private room, they happened to overhear a few Emberfall University students chatting.
Chloe Sinclair hadn’t intended to listen, but unfortunately, the students outside the room mentioned a familiar name: Wyatt Thorne.
"Did you guys hear? There’s big news on campus."
"What?"
"You know the heartthrob of the computer science department? Wyatt Thorne, the guy who was harassing my goddess today. Someone beat him up as he was leaving campus."
Then came another surprised voice, "That bad, huh?"
"You have no idea. It gets worse. He was jaywalking and got hit by a Bentley."
"Holy shit, was it serious?"
That person replied, "Not really. I heard he just got a few scrapes. The Bentley driver was generous, too. Paid him ten thousand yuan and left."
"..."
The voices outside grew fainter, and Chloe Sinclair figured they must have moved to another spot.
But a sliver of doubt appeared in her mind.
’In my past life, I never heard about Wyatt Thorne getting beaten up, did I?’
’And by a Bentley?’
Chloe Sinclair subconsciously glanced over at Jasper Shaw.
Jasper Shaw had also heard the conversation. "I wasn’t the one who hit him with a car!"
Chloe Sinclair raised an eyebrow. "I didn’t say it was you."
Only then did Jasper Shaw realize he’d overreacted.
But he wasn’t lying. He really hadn’t been the one to hit Wyatt Thorne with a car.
’What does a car driven by Zane Jordan have to do with me, Jasper Shaw?’
’But this was something he absolutely could not say out loud.’
After they finished dinner, Jasper Shaw took Chloe Sinclair back to her apartment.
Before leaving, he glanced at the renovations going on next door.
Something suddenly occurred to him, and he asked, "Chloe, when are your dad and brothers coming over?"
Chloe Sinclair estimated the time. "In about a week, I think. Why?"
Jasper Shaw shook his head. "Nothing, just asking. If your place is too crowded when they get here, they can stay at my place. The renovation crew should be done in a week."
Chloe Sinclair lived in an apartment. It wasn’t large—comfortable for one person to hole up in, but it would get very crowded if she had guests.
Chloe Sinclair knew this was true, so she didn’t refuse. She nodded. "Okay, I’ll have my dad and brothers stay at your place then."
Jasper Shaw hummed in agreement and quickly left.
Jasper Shaw had indeed been very busy these past two days.
After seeing Jasper Shaw off, Chloe Sinclair collapsed onto the sofa and, a second later, entered the God of Study System to learn.
She had Eight grant her permission to study some martial arts in the system.
But she didn’t have much talent for it. After studying for almost a year, she had only managed to grasp the basics.
Still, it was more than enough to handle an ordinary person.
Chloe Sinclair stayed in the God of Study System until dawn.
The next day, she went to school early.
She was now double-majoring in math and Physics, so her usual courseload had more than doubled.
Luckily, the classes for the two subjects didn’t conflict.
Her professors had even told her that if there were any conflicts, she could choose which one to attend and would be excused from the other.
The Emberfall University campus was huge. You had to drive to get to class; otherwise, you were bound to be late.
Chloe Sinclair rented a bicycle and rode it to the entrance of the School of Mathematics.
Just as she found a place to park it, a notification sound chimed from her phone.
Chloe Sinclair opened it and saw that a professor from the School of Physics had added her to a discussion group.
’Great,’ she thought. ’The math professors probably went and showed off yesterday.’
Chloe Sinclair felt a little helpless as she watched the Physics professors send a flurry of red envelopes. She managed to grab quite a few herself.
Then, as was customary, she sent one out as well.
With that, the group chat became a scene of happy camaraderie.
Many of the Physics professors posted questions they were puzzled by in the group, and Chloe Sinclair, happening to see them, provided answers right there in the chat.
Just a casual remark from her was enough to bring a moment of clarity to many of them.
She was typing as she walked into the School of Mathematics.
The students around her kept turning to stare, their eyes wide. Some even pretended to walk alongside Chloe Sinclair, only to run a few steps ahead and then turn back to confirm they weren’t mistaken.
But no, the person who had come to the School of Mathematics was indeed Chloe Sinclair.
This made the math students both surprised and delighted.
The School of Mathematics had far more male students than female, and the passersby in the hallway were almost all guys.
Everyone stared at Chloe Sinclair, some unable to resist forcefully squeezing their companion’s arm. "Holy shit, it’s really Chloe Sinclair!"
"Why is Chloe Sinclair at the School of Mathematics?"
"Dude, I thought I was seeing things. It’s really the goddess."
"I saw her at the School of Math yesterday. Why is she back again today?"
"Did she transfer departments?"
"No way. The goddess is doing great in the School of Physics. Plus, she was first in her year last semester."
"Maybe the goddess felt Physics wasn’t challenging enough, so she came over to the School of Mathematics?"
Many of them forgot they even had class to attend, and a good number followed behind Chloe Sinclair like lovestruck fools until she entered a classroom.
Instantly, a collective gasp echoed from the hallway.
