Chapter 529: Chapter 519: Establishing the First Satellite

Mr. Quincy opened his mouth, then closed it again, glancing at Landon Sinclair.

His eyes were asking a question.

This was his first time working with the young woman.

He knew Chloe Sinclair had ideas, but he never expected them to be this radical.

But Chloe Sinclair’s words made his expression instantly turn serious.

“Chloe, do you have any idea that our current technology simply can’t support the construction of the computer you’re describing?”

He had the ambition, but the current level of technology was too primitive. They were severely lacking in both the necessary techniques and materials.

The old man’s mood soured.

They might not be able to develop any of this for another twenty years.

He was running out of time, and the thought that he might die before seeing his dream realized was a bitter one.

But when he looked at Chloe Sinclair, the young woman was smiling. She said earnestly, “Back then, not a single person accepted Professor Quincy’s theory, but in the end, it was proven. When everyone thought the Mark Device was the world’s most advanced technology, I spent a month making it obsolete. When everyone thought the nuclear wastewater problem was unsolvable, I spent a month developing a nuclear decontamination device.”

“The world is full of impossible things. Taking that first leap is the hardest part, but if you don’t take it, you get nowhere.”

Even if she had failed back then, Chloe Sinclair wouldn’t have felt any sense of loss.

She knew it was enough that she had tried.

At that, Chloe Sinclair suddenly smiled. “Grandpa, have you heard the rumor about me at Emberfall University?”

The old man shook his head.

In truth, there were so many rumors about his treasured granddaughter-in-law that he couldn’t tell which one she meant.

Chloe Sinclair tilted her head and said earnestly, “They all say I’m a miracle.”

Mr. Quincy and Landon Sinclair were both taken aback.

In the end, Landon Sinclair poked Chloe’s forehead, a helpless, exasperated smile on his face. “Always tooting your own horn.”

Chloe also felt she was being a bit too brazen.

With a playful laugh, she said, “Grandpa, I’m really not lying to you. I’ve been researching this since the very first time you asked me to come to the lab. This method has an eighty percent feasibility rate.”

“Besides, what we’re doing isn’t just about ensuring the safety of the public. We need to deliver this communication technology to the military.”

That was her ultimate goal.

As far as she knew, shore-to-submarine communication was a major hurdle for Zenthia’s armed forces.

Once submerged, submarines could only communicate at depths of about a hundred meters. Furthermore, the signal’s resilience was poor, and communication efficiency was extremely low.

There was no way to achieve better communication.

Under these conditions, incidents were especially likely to occur.

As a leading figure in quantum communications, Mr. Quincy understood this point better than anyone.

Chloe Sinclair’s analysis had him itching to get started.

However, the old man didn’t get his hopes up too soon.

He had been in research for many years; he knew these things couldn’t be accomplished overnight, especially when they concerned the military.

“The public comes first. We must first successfully build the satellite-to-ground quantum communication network.”

Chloe Sinclair nodded. “Correct. Not just the communication network, the computer must be completed alongside it.”

The two go hand in hand.

To put it simply, the quantum computer is the offense, and quantum communication technology is the defense.

The country endured tens of billions of cyberattacks every day. The slightest misstep could result in a catastrophic data breach.

Mr. Quincy was well aware of this, so he asked, “What’s the plan next?”

Chloe: “Take a leave of absence from school. And launch the first satellite.”
