Chapter 217: Chapter 8: A Level 1 Wizard’s Gift, the Phantom Carving’s Transformation
Inside Taming Room No. 7.
Second Level Apprentices Vincent and Rock stood shoulder to shoulder at the window, their faces filled with astonishment as they gazed up at the night sky.
Although they couldn’t see the pilot’s face clearly, they had already guessed that the audacious young man had to be Mo Ning.
The order Lord Budi had suddenly issued just a moment ago had given the two Apprentices quite a shock.
They weren’t fools; it was obvious the Chief Wizard treated this young man with special consideration.
「In the night sky.」
The silver-white Triangular Wing circled in the air, scattering more powder as brilliant flashes of light erupted one after another.
Six glittering leopards materialized, forming a pack that raced across the heavens behind the Triangular Wing.
Their movements were exceptionally fluid, creating a spectacular sight.
Vincent sucked in a sharp breath. "His Magic Power control is that good?"
The Tamer reflected, ’Back when I was a new Apprentice, I definitely didn’t have this level of skill.’
The wind in the night sky was far from light, and the airflow from the Triangular Wing’s exhaust was churning the air. Forget controlling a whole pack; even making a single leopard run would be no easy feat.
Rock’s face also showed his amazement. "This level of Magic Power control... it’s probably close to that of a First Level Apprentice."
"It’s definitely at that level!" Vincent stated with conviction.
Just as he finished speaking, the Triangular Wing suddenly executed a near-ninety-degree Right Angle Turn and climbed rapidly into the sky.
Its tail sprayed a large amount of glittering powder that shimmered in the night sky.
The powder spread out and immediately began to burn.
This time, it didn’t emit white light, but a multicolored radiance that grew increasingly brilliant.
The two Apprentices could only stare, dumbfounded.
A multicolored tree of light had appeared in the sky, nearly a hundred meters tall. It had a complete trunk and branches, with boughs full of colorful leaves, looking utterly lifelike.
"How did he do that?" Vincent blurted out, a flicker of genuine shock in his eyes.
Making the powder burn with multicolored light wasn’t difficult; you just had to mix in a few ingredients.
But to make it burn into a nearly hundred-meter-tall tree of light with such a realistic shape—that was no ordinary skill.
The Apprentice mused to himself, ’If I took the time to study this, I might be able to do it too.’
But the problem was, he was a Second Level Apprentice who had been promoted over twenty years ago, while that boy was a newcomer who had only been enrolled for four months.
’This is outrageous!’
Rock was also gaping in astonishment, his mind reeling from the shock.
He stared as the tree of light swayed gently in the night sky as if blown by a soft breeze, yet it didn’t dissipate. The shock in his eyes deepened.
Rock swallowed hard and said in a low voice, "There’s a saying: ’All phenomena are projections of knowledge.’ This kid must possess knowledge that we don’t."
The author of that maxim was none other than the pioneer who created tens of thousands of Divination Formulas—Lord Gao Lei.
The two Tamers exchanged a look, and each saw the same thought in the other’s eyes: ’We’ve seriously underestimated this kid.’
Next, the Triangular Wing began an even more spectacular performance.
It dove down from the night sky again and again, then pulled up sharply, releasing handfuls of powder that burned into one tree of light after another.
Astonishingly, each tree of light had a different shape—some were lush with branches and leaves, some were draped in vines, and others were wreathed in ribbons of light.
What impressed the two Apprentices most was a tree of light reflected in water. A rosy glow floated at its base, simulating the Effect of a water’s surface, where a blurry reflection was clearly visible.
As the tree of light above the surface swayed in the wind, the reflection below moved in perfect sync, without a single flaw to give away the Illusion.
Each tree of light lasted for an exceptionally long time. By the time the eighth tree appeared, the first one still showed no signs of fading.
The two Tamers stared at the eight trees of light standing in a row across the night sky, rendered completely speechless.
Even from the perspective of a Second Level Apprentice, this was a truly magnificent performance.
But the crucial question remained: could a newcomer really pull something like this off?
The Triangular Wing began to circle in the night sky again.
One after another, leopards appeared in midair, running and playing around the eight trees of light. Some even climbed to the treetops before leaping down again.
In the blink of an eye, a pack of more than twenty leopards filled the sky, each one moving and behaving differently.
The two Apprentices couldn’t help but feel a sense of breathtaking awe.
Then, the performance finally reached its finale.
The Triangular Wing swept over the eight trees of light, and in its wake, roiling black clouds that were almost indistinguishable from real ones billowed forth from the night sky.
Fine raindrops began to fall, the downpour rapidly intensifying—from a light drizzle to a steady rain, and then into a torrent.
Of course, this wasn’t real rain, but an illusory shower of dim light.
As if seeking shelter from the rain, the pack of leopards scrambled into the canopies of the light-trees and vanished.
"BOOM—"
A sudden clap of thunder exploded.
The two Tamers jumped in surprise.
They immediately saw a pale blue lightning bolt descend from the sky, forking rapidly in midair to instantly form an inverted tree of pale blue lightning.
As if startled, the eight trees of light that had stood there before quickly vanished into the downpour.
In the instant before the lightning faded, serpents of electricity snaked through the air, outlining the shapes of dozens of light-leopards.
「And then.」
Everything subsided.
The short performance was over.
But its stunning beauty remained etched deep in the two Tamers’ eyes.
