Chapter 223: Chapter 9: Secret Technique to Impact the 1st Spirit Ring

For a newcomer, being promoted to an Apprentice within half a year of enrollment was an astonishingly fast pace.

Mo Ning rose gracefully. He smiled and said, "I’m heading back to the academy."

Flower’s reluctant voice chimed in, "I wish you a pleasant day at the academy!"

Mo Ning gave a slight nod. He activated the badge on his chest with his Spiritual Power, and the scenery of the Cabin in the Woods quickly blurred.

「Seven in the morning.」

Mo Ning led the pretty cook, Anya, through the passageway and into the No. 35 Biological Taming Center.

The sight that greeted her made the Noble Lady steal a few extra glances, a hint of nervousness soon appearing on her pretty face:

"I’ve heard the interviews at the Taming Center are difficult. Mr. Rock is known to be strict, and the pass rate is less than one in ten, on average."

She paused for a moment before sharing another rumor. "They say that among all the Tamers at the No. 35 Taming Center, Mr. Rock is the one who replaces his assistants most frequently. He’s gone through eight assistants in five years."

Mo Ning smiled reassuringly. "The rumors aren’t accurate. Mr. Rock is actually very kind. You’ll definitely pass the interview."

’He knew perfectly well this interview was just a formality.’

’As long as the Noble Lady didn’t lose her mind and offend Mr. Rock to his face, there was no way she’d be rejected.’

’But he couldn’t say that out loud.’

Anya glanced at him, seemingly understanding something. A bit more confidence appeared on her pretty face. "I understand."

Soon, the Noble Lady followed Mo Ning into the Taming Center’s circular building. Her heart pounding with anxiety, she stepped into the office of Rock, the Second Level Apprentice.

Rock only asked two questions.

The first: "Have you read any books related to Spiritual Creatures?"

The titles of three books instantly popped into Anya’s mind.

She had spent twenty-eight Black Tower Points at the newcomer’s library yesterday to urgently borrow these books, then spent the entire night poring over them.

These books had some depth and were by no means superficial. Although she had only skimmed through them, she had still learned quite a bit.

She answered quickly, "Mr. Rock, I’ve read *Exploring the Source of Spirit*..."

She had barely stated the first title when Rock cut her off directly. "Good!"

He said in a praising tone, "That classic work explains the process by which Spiritual Creatures develop Spiritual Power. The fact that you’ve read it carefully proves you have a rather deep understanding of Spiritual Creatures."

Anya was a little baffled.

’I just said one book title and I’ve already earned praise for "reading carefully" and having a "deep understanding" from the Apprentice?’

’Sir, are you serious?’

Without even a moment’s pause, Rock asked his second question: "What do you know about the Iron-Horned War Rhinoceros?"

Anya suppressed the strange feeling in her heart and answered, "From Mo Ning..."

Before she could finish, Rock interrupted her again. "Excellent!"

He immediately explained why it was "excellent." "Mo Ning has a very deep understanding of the Iron-Horned War Rhinoceros. You’ve learned a great deal about the War Rhinoceros from him, so I’m confident you’re perfectly capable of handling the assistant’s position."

Anya was practically dumbstruck.

’I only said two words, "Mo Ning," and that’s considered "excellent"?’

Rock nodded with a smile. "Alright, the interview is over. Miss Anya, welcome to the No. 35 Taming Center."

He handed over an item he had prepared in advance, a broad smile on his face. "This is your assistant’s badge."

Anya subconsciously took the badge, her beautiful eyes completely filled with bewilderment.

The information she had gathered said the interview usually involved about ten questions covering many specific details, and they were quite difficult to answer.

She never imagined that Mr. Rock would only ask two questions—and that she would pass the interview smoothly even though her answers could hardly be called answers at all.

’This is too ridiculous!’

Even if she were slow-witted, she would have figured it out by now—Mo Ning seemed to have an unusual influence over Mr. Rock.

The Apprentice only cared that "she knew Mo Ning" and paid no mind to anything else.

That was why the interview had been reduced to a pointless formality.

Rock gave a few casual instructions and then sent the Noble Lady on her way. "Alright, if there’s anything you don’t understand, you can ask Mo Ning for help."

Anya dazedly replied, "Okay," and walked out of the office in a trance.

Rock leaned back in his chair and let out a contented sigh. "This time, I’ve finally hired an excellent assistant."
