They stopped at a pizza house to get something to eat, and before long, all four of them were seated inside a booth. Faye had barely settled down before reaching for a slice of pizza, her attention completely consumed by the food in front of her.

It was the girl’s first meal of the day, and judging by the speed at which she was eating, she intended to make up for every missed meal at once.

Princess sat beside her, studying the noticeable changes in her girlfriend’s appearance. Faye’s brown hair was gradually turning white, with the pale strands becoming more obvious with every passing time. After examining the changes for a moment, Princess lowered her gaze to the growing pile of pizza slices Faye had already devoured.

"Slow down, babe, for easier digestion..." Princess advised.

Faye continued eating as though she had not heard a word.

Princess sighed before turning her attention to Kiara, who was wearing one of her gowns. Thankfully, her suitcase had been left inside the car, giving them something clean for the girl to wear after everything that had happened.

However, the clothes were not the strangest thing about Kiara. The girl had been unusually quiet ever since Princess offered her something to wear. On an ordinary day, Kiara would have made some comment before accepting the clothes, probably finding something to complain about along the way. Instead, she had barely spoken, and now she was staring at the pizza slice in her hand with an expression that made Princess increasingly suspicious.

Then Kiara lifted the slice to her mouth and began licking it.

Princess blinked.

Even Bambi was staring at the girl strangely, apparently just as confused by her behaviour.

What if this was not Kiara at all, but the Fire Demon living inside her?

If Perico had taken control of Kiara’s body, Princess expected him to behave like the evil lunatic everyone described, creating chaos and burning anyone unfortunate enough to catch his attention. Yet here he was, sitting peacefully in a pizza house, licking a slice of pizza as though he had never seen food before.

"So you are Perico..." Princess began.

Faye telling her about Perico beforehand had turned out to be a very good thing. Otherwise, discovering that the Fire Demon was sitting right in front of her would have been enough to make her panic.

"I don’t like this Luna. What is it called again..." Perico said through Kiara’s mouth, looking far too delighted with the pizza.

Bambi stared at him for another moment before finally understanding why her ex had been acting so strangely.

"So she is not Kiara?"

"No, Kiara is currently asleep. He is not supposed to be out on the surface, but Silviana and Jackie provoked him..." Faye explained, still working her way through the food. She was already on her seventh slice.

"That is pizza, Perico..." Bambi informed him.

"So when is Kiara returning?" Princess asked, trying to understand how long they would have to deal with this unexpected guest.

"When he is asleep, Kiara can regain her body... Babe, order more..." Faye said, finally reaching for another slice.

Princess turned towards her girlfriend in disbelief.

"Really, you are still hungry..."

"I am carrying your child inside me, so when I say I want more, you give me without a question..." Faye declared with complete seriousness.

Princess swallowed hard, momentarily caught off guard by the way her girlfriend had delivered that statement. She knew better than to argue with a pregnant Faye, especially when food was involved. Instead, she tapped Bambi and silently sent her to order another round.

"Speaking of child, where are my wonderful babies?" Faye asked, finally shifting her attention away from the pizza long enough to look at her girlfriend.

"They are at the cottage. I dropped them there when I realised that their mother was missing, again..." Princess answered.

Faye immediately frowned at the reminder.

"Well, I do not need to give you an explanation because you saw for yourself why I was missing. Not my fucking fault, I happen to be in the middle of your ex-therapist and your ex-girlfriend situation..." Faye explained, defending herself against any accusation of deliberately disappearing.

"I know, that is why I am angry, okay..." Princess replied.

Her gaze then shifted towards the ashes resting on the table, and the sight brought her attention back to the events they had barely escaped.

"But did you really have to kill the witch...?"

"I did not kill her. She wouldn’t listen. I gave her so many opportunities to leave, but no, she wouldn’t listen. She tried to kill me, and Perico killed her in return..." Faye explained.

"No one touches my Luna while I watch. She was a very bad witch. I gave her a painless death..." Perico added, still occupied with the same slice of pizza.

Princess’s expression changed the moment he called Faye my Luna.

She did not like it. Not one bit.

It did not matter that Perico was inhabiting Kiara’s body or that he might have some connection to Faye. Nobody had the right to call her girlfriend their Luna, and Princess certainly had no intention of pretending otherwise.

"I don’t like the way your mate is staring at me..." Perico complained, apparently noticing the Alpha’s increasingly hostile glare.

"And I don’t like the way you call my girl, your Luna..." Princess shot back.

"Do you want to get burned?" Perico threatened, pointing his pizza slice at the Alpha as though it were a weapon.

Princess stared at him, clearly unimpressed by the threat.

"Perico, why don’t you finish your pizza and I will buy you ice cream..." Faye interrupted before the argument could escalate.

"Ohhh, ice cream! I have tasted that, and I like how cold it is..."

Perico immediately stuffed the entire slice into his mouth and swallowed without even chewing properly.

Princess could only stare at him in disbelief.

"Oh God, Kiki is going to spend all day puking out all that food..." she muttered.

While they waited for their second order, Beam arrived after Princess called her. Fortunately, she was not too busy to come over, and the moment she joined them, Princess explained everything that had happened, including the witch’s death and the ashes sitting on the table.

Beam could hardly believe what she was hearing. She was staring at the ashes of her girlfriend’s aunt, Jacqueline Brown, and the thought of what this meant for Tisha was almost too much to process.

Tisha would never be the same when she discovered that she had lost another member of her family.

"You are not telling them... This has to be a secret between everyone present here," Princess instructed.

Beam immediately looked at her in disbelief.

"What do you mean by that? Tisha and her grandparents have to know. Jacqueline Brown is dead, and it is their right to be aware of the tragedy, regardless of the situation..." Beam argued.

"Let it be a secret, Beamer. The council are already involved, and they have no clue about the witch. If they find out about the doctor’s family, they will go after them and kill them all. This is the best way..." Princess explained.

Silviana had been right about the council. They were not people who could be reasoned with once they decided someone was a threat. Outside witches were regarded as dangerous, and the council had no problem eliminating them when it suited their interests. If they discovered Jacqueline’s connection to the family, her death could easily become the beginning of another tragedy.

Beam gradually understood what Princess was trying to prevent, even if she did not like the idea of keeping such devastating news from the people who deserved to know.

"So what is going to happen when they start looking for her? Won’t that be a problem?" Faye asked.

"I will find an excuse to tell them. I will just need a promotion letter that says the doctor has been transferred to a hospital outside the city..." Beam suggested.

"That is a good idea. I will ask Adam to prepare that, but for now, this is a secret between all of us..." Princess agreed.

Beam nodded, accepting that they needed to protect Jacqueline’s family before deciding what to do next. It was not an ideal solution, but exposing them to the council’s attention could cost them their lives.

Only then did Beam turn her attention towards Kiara, who was still behaving nothing like the girl she knew.

"What is wrong with her?" Beam asked.

"She is possessed by the demon inside her..." Bambi explained.

Beam considered that answer for a moment before nodding, as though Kiara’s strange behaviour finally made sense.

"Makes sense... I will be taking the ashes to my home and keeping them safe..."

After making that decision, Beam carried the ashes and left, taking the remains of Jacqueline Brown with her for safekeeping.

Meanwhile, Faye finally reached the point where she was satisfied with her meal. Having devoured slice after slice of pizza, the hungry girl could at last turn her attention towards something she had been thinking about for far too long.

Her pups.

Now that she had eaten her fill, Faye was eager to return to the cottage and see them.
