Chapter 320: Chapter 320: Firefight

The flames of the explosion began to dissipate.

Long Ming’s figure gradually emerged, the surface of his Red Demon mecha-armor slightly scorched.

"Boss, I think we’ve run into a tough one. This guy’s gear looks really special!"

Lu Ang’s companions were startled and immediately raised their guns at Long Ming.

"Then it must be pretty valuable. Perfect, we’ll strip it off him!"

Lu Ang cracked his neck and spoke with utter arrogance.

"Cocky, aren’t you?"

Long Ming stared at Lu Ang’s group of five and said in a hoarse voice.

He didn’t charge in to finish off the squad right away. Instead, he began to calculate.

’I should test the average combat power of this guild’s members,’ Long Ming thought. ’I can’t afford a careless mistake that gets me killed later.’

’Judging by their gear, the leader is wearing a second-generation heavy exoskeleton, while the others are in first-generation mechanical armor. Their firearms are pretty decent models, though.’

"That’s because I have every reason to be cocky! Get him!"

Lu Ang raised his hand and waved, giving the order to Yobi and the others.

SWISH! SWISH!

Yobi and his teammates immediately scattered, unleashing a fierce barrage on Long Ming.

Long Ming dodged quickly but was still hit by several beams of light.

TSSS! TSSS!

Wisps of black smoke rose from his armor.

Long Ming charged toward Lu Ang, absorbing the hits.

"You’re asking to die!"

Lu Ang activated his armor’s full power, swinging his giant axe in a powerful horizontal cleave as he met the charge.

Long Ming deliberately held back his Power, swinging his blood-red blade to meet the attack.

The two weapons collided.

BAM!

Lu Ang’s giant axe was blocked.

"So you do have some skill. No wonder you’re so arrogant. But running into me today is just your bad luck!"

Lu Ang unleashed a burst of Power, batting the blood-red blade aside.

Long Ming staggered back a step.

With a savage grin, Lu Ang raised his giant axe and brought it down in a vertical chop toward Long Ming.

Long Ming hastily retreated to dodge.

Lu Ang spun around and swept his axe sideways.

Long Ming raised his blood-red blade to block!

CLANG!

Sparks flew as Long Ming was forced back again and again, putting on a show of struggling.

"Go get him, Boss!"

Seeing Lu Ang completely overpowering Long Ming, Yobi and the others ceased their fire support.

After all, if the gear was too damaged, it wouldn’t sell for a good price.

Lu Ang grew more and more frenzied, hacking at Long Ming like a wild beast, one blow after another.

Long Ming was actually a little surprised.

’I can’t believe a mere squad leader from a major guild is this skilled.’

A glint flickered in his eyes. He decided against getting serious and finishing them off, lest he alert the enemy.

’They ambushed me with such precision, so they must have some kind of surveillance device nearby. If I reveal my true strength and they see me as a threat, they’ll definitely focus all their efforts on hunting me down.’

Long Ming subtly retreated toward a dilapidated building. He then raised his blood-red blade to block Lu Ang’s axe, deliberately leaving himself wide open.

Lu Ang raised his leg and delivered a vicious kick to Long Ming’s chest.

Long Ming shot backward like a cannonball, crashing into the ruined building behind him.

"Haha, and I thought you were some kind of expert! Turns out you’re just a chump!"

Lu Ang charged arrogantly into the ruined building.

But after rushing inside, he didn’t see Long Ming. Instead, he saw several spinning grenades rolling across the floor.

"Shit!"

Lu Ang’s expression changed instantly.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

A massive explosion erupted.

The entire dilapidated building collapsed with a deafening roar, burying Lu Ang inside.

"Boss!"

Yobi and the others were shocked and rushed toward the rubble.

CRASH!

The debris was blasted away as Lu Ang rose from the ruins.

"Boss, are you okay?"

Yobi and the others asked with concern.

"Damn it! That bastard dared to set me up!"

Lu Ang furiously whipped his head around, scanning the area, but there was no sign of Long Ming.

"What now? The guy probably escaped. Should we still go after him?"

Yobi and the others hadn’t expected this twist.

"Chase my ass! There’s no time. The guy sucks at fighting, but he’s a first-class runner. He’s probably heading straight for the escape platform."

"What a pity. His gear and the airdrop should have been worth a lot!"

"Let’s go. Time to report back."

Lu Ang waved his hand irritably and left with his companions.

Meanwhile, after shaking off Lu Ang’s group, Long Ming cautiously searched for a suitable place to hide.

The Twilight Guild and the Dawn Guild were starting to clear the field. He had to evade their sweep.

’Let the two guilds tear each other apart.’

「...」

「Time passed.」

The sounds of gunfire and explosions throughout the city gradually faded.

「Clock Tower Street.」

Kaber waited patiently.

Just then, Lu Ang and the others responsible for clearing the area returned.

"Is everything clear?"

Hai Ying asked Lu Ang and his team in a low voice.

"It’s clear. Only a few rats made it to the escape platform."

Lu Ang and the others replied with grim expressions.

Hearing this, Hai Ying walked over to Kaber’s side to report.

"Sir, the cleanup is complete."

After hearing Hai Ying’s report, Kaber gave an order to everyone present.

"Everyone, with me!"

"Yes, sir!"

The crowd responded with grim determination.

「...」

「A moment later.」

Kaber led his numerous subordinates to the central avenue of the Ansika Mechanical City.

Ask was also approaching from the opposite direction with all of his subordinates.

The two groups stopped when they were fifty meters apart.

Kaber stood at the very front, with four Graylight mechs behind him.

On the other side, Ask also stepped forward, four Destroyer mechs at his back. The two sides were now in a standoff.

Kaber then spoke to Ask, his tone laced with contempt.

"The annoying rats have all been cleared out. Now it’s your turn! If you of the Dawn Guild apologize now and cede the mining zone, I can still put in a good word with the Guild Master and help you cut your losses."

"Haha, that’s hilarious. The robbers are now trying to lecture me on principles. How hypocritical."

"So you’ve chosen the hard way!"

"Get them! Wipe them out!"

Ask couldn’t be bothered to waste any more words with Kaber. He raised his hand and waved to his subordinates.

Kaber also gave the order with a savage grin.

"Annihilate them!"

"KILL!"

The players from the two great guilds immediately charged forward, launching a ferocious assault.

SWISH! SWISH!

A dense rain of light beams, rockets, and all sorts of other attacks fell like hail upon both crowds.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Countless explosions ripped through the area.

The two streamers, Mude and his co-host, reported with great excitement.

"They’re fighting! They’re fighting! The battle is incredibly intense!"

「Inside the Fate Arena.」

The massive crowd of gamblers watching the fight roared with excitement.

"Tear them apart!"

"Go! Take them all down!"

「...」

The once cold and quiet atmosphere instantly erupted.

In the VIP stands, Vice Guild Master Sedel and Vice Guild Master Cleene’s expressions turned serious as they both focused on the holographic display.

The stakes in this battle were high. Both sides had bet ten million each, and the five V3-series Mechanical Gods were incredibly valuable. A loss would be a massive humiliation.

At that moment, atop a derelict signal tower on the northwestern side of the battle zone...
