Chapter 51: Bountiful Harvest
Chapter 51: Chapter 51: Bountiful Harvest
A moment later.
Numerous scavenger squads were gathered, and Xiaoqi quickly led his men over.
Soon, they arrived at their destination. A dilapidated general hospital came into view.
The hospital was composed of five buildings. While not massive, it was by no means small.
At that moment, Mira and the others were standing at the entrance of the outpatient building.
Xiaoqi hurriedly ran over with his men.
"Sister Mira, we’re here."
"Good. Take your men and search this hospital from top to bottom. Be careful while you’re searching. There might be some Corpse Monsters inside."
Mira said to Xiaoqi.
"Alright. Everyone, spread out and search,"
Xiaoqi immediately gave the order to the crowd.
This time, Long Ming had gotten smarter. He immediately ran toward Inpatient Building 5. He didn’t choose the outpatient building’s pharmacy because it had most likely already been cleared out by the combat personnel.
Soon, Long Ming and the others charged into the building. The first-floor lobby was very spacious, with only a few payment windows and an information desk.
Long Ming scanned the area with a glance and then ran toward the stairs.
The other scavengers also caught on and followed him toward the stairs.
Everyone scrambled desperately up the stairs, trying their best to shake off the others.
In the end, Long Ming chose the 7th floor. He ran into a wide hallway and saw patient rooms on both sides at a glance.
However, Long Ming didn’t search these patient rooms. Instead, he made a beeline for the treatment room up ahead.
Having spent years in and out of hospitals, no one was more familiar with the layout than he was.
Just then, Johnny and his group also rushed up. Seeing Long Ming running toward the treatment room, they also took off after him.
However, Long Ming’s agility stat was relatively high, so he ran a good deal faster than they did.
"Fuck, how is that kid so fast!"
Johnny couldn’t help but curse as he watched the distance between him and Long Ming grow.
"I don’t know, isn’t he a newbie? What the hell!"
Johnny’s companion was also dumbfounded.
Unfortunately for them, no matter how much they disbelieved it, Long Ming was still the first to burst into the treatment room.
"Damn it!"
Johnny and his men could only stop at the entrance of the treatment room.
Long Ming immediately raised his wristband to scan the medicines arranged on the shelves of the treatment room.
Analgesic Syringe x5
Effect: Rapid pain relief. Duration: 30 minutes.
Medical Bandage x5
Effect: Stops bleeding.
Glucose Hydration Solution x3
Effect: Rapidly restores Physical Strength.
A brilliant smile spread across Long Ming’s face. He decisively stuffed the medicines into his backpack. This was a real jackpot.
Seeing Long Ming packing up the medicine, Johnny and his men were incredibly envious. However, they didn’t go up to fight for it, instead heading to the nurses’ station to search.
After he finished packing, Long Ming walked into a nearby patient room.
He rummaged through the nightstand next to the hospital bed but didn’t find anything valuable, so he moved on to the next room.
A short while later, Long Ming decisively gave up on searching the patient rooms and ran directly to the stairs to head to the 8th floor.
He quickly reached the 8th floor, but then he suddenly heard the sound of rummaging from inside. He immediately gave up on the 8th floor and headed for the 9th.
However, as he reached the 9th floor, Johnny and his group anxiously caught up to him.
"Bro, wait up!"
"What’s up?"
Long Ming turned to look at Johnny and asked calmly.
"Bro, look, you’ve already found a lot of stuff, but we haven’t found anything valuable yet. Could you let us have this floor?"
Johnny requested politely.
"Alright."
Long Ming didn’t mind. He continued up the stairs toward the top floor, the 10th floor.
To him, a search was a search; the 9th floor wasn’t necessarily any better than the 10th. Besides, if he didn’t give it to them, he’d have to search the floor with them. He might as well do them an easy favor.
"Thanks."
Johnny and his men called out their thanks joyfully to Long Ming’s departing back.
Long Ming waved his hand and quickly made his way to the 10th floor.
As it turned out, the 10th floor was a storage area, piled with all sorts of old medical equipment and miscellaneous junk.
Long Ming patiently rummaged through the items one by one, but after searching for a long time, he found nothing of value. All he found was a white-grade old trophy, and it was quite heavy.
"Sigh! A miscalculation!"
Long Ming sighed, tossed the trophy aside, and turned to leave.
However, after taking a few steps, he stopped again.
His gaze fell upon the floor, where he saw some broken plaster and concrete fragments. They were clearly fresh.
He subconsciously looked up at the ceiling and saw a small hole, through which a sharp piece of metal was poking.
A puzzled look appeared on Long Ming’s face. He carefully observed the sharp piece of metal. Based on its texture and shape, it seemed completely out of place in a hospital.
In that instant, a thought flashed through his mind.
His expression shifted slightly. He immediately ran to the stairwell and headed for the rooftop.
...
「At the hospital’s main entrance.」
Cao Jie, Qiao Shan, and their men stood guard here, holding rifles and yawning.
"Brother Cao, how much longer until the search is over? I’m bored to death!"
Qiao Shan chatted idly with Cao Jie.
"What’s the hurry? It’ll probably be a while longer. Hold on, someone’s coming!"
Cao Jie sharply spotted two figures running out of the distant fog.
Qiao Shan and the others quickly raised their guns.
"Don’t shoot! We’re friendly!"
Just then, two men with Iron Fist emblems tied to their shoulders as armbands shouted hastily.
"Haha, friendly?"
Hearing their words, Cao Jie and his men burst out laughing.
"Oh no! Run!"
After getting a clear look at the faces and armbands of Cao Jie’s group, the two players from the Iron Fist Guild realized their mistake. Their expressions changed drastically, and they immediately turned to flee.
BANG! BANG!
Cao Jie raised his gun and fired twice.
Of the two Iron Fist Guild players, one was shot dead on the spot, while the other collapsed to the ground, shot in the leg.
"Sorry, we’ve already wiped out the rest of your people. But don’t worry, I’ll send you to reunite with them soon enough."
Cao Jie said smugly as he walked forward.
"Damn it! You big guilds only know how to bully smaller ones like us."
"So what?"
"Don’t get cocky. You’ll be the one crying soon."
the man before him said viciously.
"Haha, as if you could do anything!"
Cao Jie and his men were about to burst out laughing again, but in the next second, the smiles on their faces froze.
Figure after figure began to appear in the gray, hazy fog.
"How is that possible? So many of them?"
Qiao Shan was dumbfounded.
As the figures drew closer, Cao Jie could finally make them out.
These figures weren’t players at all—they were zombies!
He flew into a rage, turning to the Iron Fist Guild player and cursing.
"Fuck! You actually led a mob here!"
"Haha, you’re figuring that out a little too late!"
The man before him was extremely smug.
"What do we do?"
Qiao Shan hastily asked Cao Jie.
"You guys hold them off. I’m going to inform Captain Mira."
After giving his orders, Cao Jie immediately ran back into the hospital.
...
「In the hospital’s central courtyard.」
Numerous scavengers were gathered together.
Everyone had a brilliant smile on their face. Basically, all of their backpacks were stuffed full.
"We’re rich this time."
"What did you find?"
"A scalpel! A purple-grade one!"
"Holy shit, you got a purple!"
"Hehe."
...
Cries of surprise and amazement occasionally rose from the crowd.
