「A moment later.」
Long Ming lay prone on the roof of a seven-story hotel, gripping an M24 sniper rifle. He scanned the area through its scope, searching for any sign of Qin Ye and Qin Ying.
But after searching for a long time, he still couldn’t spot them.
’Strange, where’d they run off to?’
Long Ming’s face was a mask of confusion.
’Normally, they shouldn’t have been able to get very far.’
But just then, Long Ming suddenly saw something on a distant street.
Lu Xu was being dragged by Adika’s subordinates to stand before a woman in a fox mask.
"I’m sorry, Commander Luo Bing! This was my mistake. I failed to take them all down and let a few slip through the net. On top of that, we lost so many people."
Adika said, bowing his head to Commander Luo Bing in apology.
Qian Luobing merely glanced at Adika and gestured dismissively with her hand.
Adika obediently fell back.
Qian Luobing walked up to Lu Xu, gazing down at him as she asked with cold indifference.
"What guild are you with?"
"Go fuck yourself! Who the hell do you think you are? Why the fuck should I answer you?"
Lu Xu cursed defiantly.
Hearing this, Qian Luobing wasted no more words. She simply drew an ice-blue automatic pistol and pulled the trigger on Lu Xu.
BANG!
Lu Xu’s eyes flew wide as he collapsed to the ground.
Long Ming’s brow twitched as he watched Lu Xu get killed. ’At least it wasn’t my client.’
He had no intention of letting them off the hook, though. If he wasn’t mistaken, the girl in the fox mask had to be the leader of this team of All Stars Guild players.
Long Ming immediately adjusted his aim, held his breath, and locked onto the fox-masked woman.
’Die!’
WHIZ!
The bullet sliced through the air, heading straight for Qian Luobing.
Just then, Eric sensed the danger ahead of time. With incredible speed, he raised his giant shield and blocked the shot meant for Qian Luobing.
CLANG!
The bullet struck the corner of the shield, emitting a piercing shriek.
The expressions on the faces of Jiang Huai and the others changed instantly.
"Sniper!"
"Rooftop, building at three o’clock!"
Eric shouted out the location immediately after blocking the attack.
Hearing Eric’s callout, Bakaen raised his Gatling gun and aimed it in Long Ming’s direction.
Long Ming was shocked to see his shot blocked by the guy with the shield. When he saw Bakaen aiming a Gatling gun at his position, his heart lurched, and he immediately turned and ran.
RAT-TAT-TAT-TAT!
A storm of bullets rained down!
CLANG! CLANG!
A dense spray of bullets hammered the roof behind him, kicking up chunks of concrete and clouds of dust.
Long Ming ran for his life!
The roof behind him was riddled with holes.
Fortunately, it wasn’t long before the Gatling gun ran out of ammunition.
Long Ming breathed a sigh of relief.
WHIRRR—
Suddenly, a piercing sound came from behind him.
Long Ming whipped his head around to see an FPV drone speeding toward him.
His expression changed drastically, and he immediately scrambled forward.
A wide street opened up before him; there were no other rooftops to jump across to.
Meanwhile, the buzzing behind him grew ever more piercing and loud.
Long Ming’s expression hardened, and he leaped off the building.
A second later, the FPV drone slammed straight into the roof.
BOOM—
A massive explosion swept across the area, blasting a huge crater in the top of the residential building.
When the explosion subsided,
Long Ming was dangling in mid-air, his hands clutching the windowsill of the fifth floor.
"A bunch of psychos,"
Long Ming couldn’t help but curse. Then he let go, allowing himself to free-fall.
An instant later, he reached out and grabbed the fourth-floor windowsill.
The next second, he let go again, dropped, and caught the third-floor windowsill.
Soon, Long Ming landed effortlessly on the ground and immediately turned to flee.
Meanwhile, Jiang Huai stared at a screen full of static and reported to Luo Bing,
"We’re up against an expert. Didn’t get the kill."
"Finish him!"
Qian Luobing commanded coldly, waving her hand forward.
"Yes!"
Adika and the others immediately led their people in pursuit.
「In an alleyway.」
Long Ming sprinted, his intuition screaming that those people wouldn’t let him go easily.
Sure enough, it wasn’t long before he heard a noise overhead and glanced up.
In the distant sky, he saw a reconnaissance drone searching for him.
Long Ming’s heart sank.
His expression shifted, and he decisively raised his M24 sniper rifle, aiming at the recon drone.
Just then, the recon drone’s camera swiveled and locked onto Long Ming.
BANG!
Long Ming pulled the trigger without hesitation.
The drone was hit, tumbling from the sky like a kite with a broken string.
Watching the drone fall, Long Ming’s tense expression showed no sign of relief. Instead, he turned and fled for his life.
’They’ve obviously found me.’
Normally, they shouldn’t be able to catch him; there was a considerable distance between them, and he was fast.
But for some reason, Long Ming couldn’t shake a deep feeling of unease.
VROOOM!
Just then, the roar of a motorcycle engine sounded.
Hearing the sound, Long Ming cast aside any lingering hope of getting lucky. He immediately put away his M24 sniper rifle and switched to a Carbine.
He continued running forward, opting not to hide in a building.
After his last experience with the exploding drone, Long Ming dismissed the strategy of hunkering down. He had no desire to die such a pathetic death again.
VROOOM~
Just then, a motorcycle shot out from the intersection ahead and skidded to a stylish halt.
But before the player on it could open fire,
Long Ming opened up on him with a furious spray from his Carbine.
RAT-TAT-TAT!
BOOOM—
The player and his motorcycle were caught in the dense hail of bullets and immediately went down.
Long Ming sprinted forward, vaulting over the motorcycle.
"There he is!"
Just then, two All Stars Guild players appeared from an alley to his rear left, chasing him down and opening fire.
Long Ming’s heart sank, and he ran forward desperately.
Bullets whizzed past him from behind.
Suddenly, an All Stars Guild player on rollerblades burst out from the corner ahead, raising his gun to aim at Long Ming.
Long Ming instantly aimed back at him.
Just as they were about to open fire on each other,
CRACK!
The All Stars Guild player was instantly killed with a headshot.
Long Ming glanced up at a window in the building to his right and saw Guardian Chapter vaulting down.
"What a coincidence. I didn’t expect us to run into each other,"
Guardian Chapter said cheerfully.
Long Ming didn’t answer Guardian Chapter. Instead, he raised his Carbine and aimed it at him.
The corners of Guardian Chapter’s mouth curved upward as he quickly raised his automatic rifle.
They both pulled the trigger and opened fire at the same time.
RAT-TAT-TAT!
"Aaargh!"
In an instant, the All Stars Guild players chasing them from both front and back were riddled with bullets.
Then, with perfect coordination, they both reloaded at the same time.
"So, what’s your plan?"
Guardian Chapter asked Long Ming with great interest.
"Your client’s dead. Why are you still here?"
Long Ming asked Guardian Chapter coldly.
"I don’t care about the money. I’m in it for the thrill."
A chilling smile spread across Guardian Chapter’s face.
"Hmph!"
Long Ming simply turned and ran straight ahead.
Guardian Chapter immediately followed him.
