Chapter 88: A River of Blood
Chapter 88: Chapter 88: A River of Blood
Central Hall - Northeast Sector.
The subordinates of Qian Luobing and Farina were locked in a brutal slaughter.
Although the Star God Guild’s players were incredibly valiant, it was clear that Qian Luobing’s forces had the edge in combat prowess.
The Star God Guild’s players were gradually being pushed back.
Seeing this, Lair roared.
"For the great Star God, charge!"
One after another, members of the Star God Guild carrying oversized tactical backpacks reached back, pulled the fuses sticking out of their packs, and charged Qian Luobing, Adika, and the others with shields raised in a suicide attack.
Adika’s face fell the moment he saw them. He yelled.
"Satchel charges! Take them out, now!"
BANG! BANG!
A dense hail of bullets swept toward them.
CLANG! CLANG!
Bullet after bullet struck the shields, sending sparks flying.
A cold glint flashed in Qian Luobing’s eyes. She raised her weapon and fired precise shots at the Star God Guild player charging her.
BANG! BANG!
"Ah!"
The Star God Guild player’s exposed foot was hit, and he toppled to the ground.
The other Star God players charged forward, braving the hail of gunfire.
"Move!"
Adika and his men broke cover and scrambled back.
BOOM!
A violent explosion swept through the area, engulfing several All Stars Guild players.
At that moment, Farina locked onto Qian Luobing and fired a series of shots at her.
Eric raised his shield, blocking the shots for Qian Luobing.
CLANG! CLANG!
"Eric, go help the others."
Qian Luobing said coldly before darting behind a nearby metal pillar and quickly raising her weapon to return fire.
BANG! BANG!
Farina was instantly suppressed, forced to duck back behind cover.
...
By a small door in the Central Hall.
Pilates gently pushed open the door and looked up into the hall.
He was instantly stunned by the brutal battle unfolding before him.
"Go to hell! Aaargh!"
All Stars Guild players pulled the pins on their high-explosive grenades and charged straight at members of the Sin Abyss Guild.
BOOM!
Both sides were blown to smithereens as blood splattered everywhere.
Soon, many of the combatants ran out of ammunition. They simply threw their guns aside, drew their tactical knives, and charged their opponents, engaging in brutal close-quarters combat.
"This..."
Pilates watched the scene, utterly speechless.
In his stream chat, the viewers were also stunned.
The comments started scrolling across the screen.
"Are... are these really players?"
"This is terrifying!"
"It doesn’t feel like they’re playing a game. It feels like a real war."
...
Inside the ventilation ducts.
As Long Ming crawled past a vent opening, he glanced down and was also taken aback by the sight.
’These guys are fighting this viciously?’
He took a deep breath to calm his racing heart and continued crawling forward.
When Qin Ying crawled past the vent, she instinctively glanced down. Her face instantly turned deathly pale, and she began to tremble as she spoke.
"How terrifying."
"Don’t look! Keep crawling forward."
Long Ming said to Qin Ying in a low voice.
Qin Ying nodded fearfully, steeled herself, and continued to follow Long Ming.
Time ticked by. Relying on his excellent sense of direction, Long Ming led Qin Ying until they reached the very center of the hall.
He poked his head up to a vent and observed the area below.
A transparent central control room came into view.
In the center of the room sat a sophisticated control console, its screen lit up and displaying a complex operating interface.
"We’ve reached the control room."
Long Ming said in a low voice.
"That’s great!"
A joyful smile spread across Qin Ying’s face when she heard Long Ming.
She never thought she would actually make it to the final circle. It was simply unbelievable.
"Don’t celebrate too early. It’s still a long way from 9:00."
"Oh, so what do we do now?"
"We lie low and wait for the right moment."
Long Ming kept peering through the vent, studying the layout of the central control room and looking for any potential cover.
As it turned out, the inside of the control room was wide open, with practically no cover at all.
If a fight were to break out in here, the central console would almost certainly get caught in the crossfire.
Worst of all, the control room had a full four entrances, making it incredibly difficult to defend.
After assessing the terrain, Long Ming pulled back. He leaned against the wall of the ventilation duct, slowly closed his eyes, and listened quietly to the sounds of explosions from the hall.
Qin Ying watched Long Ming as he rested with his eyes closed. She opened her mouth to say something, but then thought better of it and remained silent.
...
Central Hall.
The entire floor was a river of blood. Countless motes of white light floated upward as backpacks dropped to the ground one by one.
By now, many players from the three major guilds had exhausted their ammunition and were locked in a desperate, chaotic melee.
"Kill!"
A player from the Star God Guild charged Lu Chuan with a dagger.
Lu Chuan caught his wrist in a grappling hold, flipped him to the ground with a powerful shoulder throw, then drew his own tactical knife and plunged it into the man’s chest again and again.
SQUELCH.
The Star God Guild player coughed up a mouthful of blood, his eyes rolled back, and he stopped breathing.
Suddenly, a Sin Abyss Guild player charged in, wrapped his arms around Lu Chuan’s waist, and began shoving him forward with all his might.
Lu Chuan unleashed a burst of Power to absorb the impact, then raised his tactical knife and stabbed it into his opponent’s back.
But the man refused to let go, holding onto Lu Chuan with one arm while his other hand grabbed a grenade from Lu Chuan’s tactical belt and pulled the pin.
"Damn it!"
Lu Chuan’s expression changed drastically.
BOOM!
A violent explosion sent them both flying.
Elsewhere, the ground was covered with players tangled together, rolling around while strangling one another.
Some players opened their mouths and bit down on their opponent’s ears, tearing them off in a spray of blood.
"Aaargh!"
Horrified screams rose and fell across the hall.
Meanwhile, Qian Luobing, Qian Wei, Farina, and Padoka remained hidden behind various pieces of cover, exchanging constant fire.
BANG!
They were now in a battle of attrition, waiting to see who would break first.
...
Pilates remained hidden behind the small door, watching the brutal slaughter. He was completely dumbstruck, a look of pure terror on his face.
For a moment, he even forgot he was live and failed to offer any commentary.
In the stream chat.
The comment feed was unusually quiet.
The people watching the stream had all fallen silent.
Tonight was destined to be a sleepless one. The brutal battle had terrified many players, leaving a shadow on their hearts.
Star Wish Cafe, Main Hall.
Xiaoqi watched the livestream, her hand covering her mouth as she spoke, her body trembling slightly.
"It’s too horrible."
"This is no different from a real war."
Mira took a deep breath to calm her pounding heart and said with a complicated expression.
"Sister Mira, are we still going to run the Observatory instance after this?"
Xiaoqi asked, forcing down her fear.
"Probably not anytime soon. Look at this scene. Who would dare run this instance?"
Mira said, lightly biting her lip.
...
Inside the Central Hall.
Pilates gradually recovered from his shock and began to commentate, stammering.
"A huge number of players from the three major guilds have been killed. There are fewer than two hundred people left on the field. If this keeps up, it probably won’t be long before a winner is decided..."
