Chapter 214: Observer Civilization
Chapter 214: Observer Civilization
Quantum technology.
Vacuum energy.
Materials bound by the strong nuclear force.
These were the most advanced technologies currently possessed by the machine civilization.
Because the radicals and conservatives operated at the same technological level, neither side could gain a decisive advantage.
The machine race did not fear casualties.
They could create new members faster than they lost them in battle, making casualty figures meaningless.
They truly deserved to be called a cosmic calamity.
Even as the two factions fought fiercely throughout the Dawnstar Galaxy, with countless members of the machine race reduced to metal wreckage on the front lines every day, the overall situation did not change in the slightest.
The difference in combat strength between them was almost nonexistent.
Under those circumstances, both factions raced to develop more advanced weapons.
Whichever side created a stronger weapon first would gain the chance to destroy the other.
Progenitor’s database contained no dimensional technology.
However, it did contain the String Force Field technology Caelum had provided.
Before his death, Progenitor uploaded the technology for the String Force Field Device to the quantum network.
Yet for reasons known only to him, he did not upload the complete design.
He deliberately destroyed part of the data, leaving the String Force Field technology within the machine civilization’s quantum network incomplete.
Now both factions were pouring enormous resources into the project, desperate to complete the device before the other side.
Falling even one step behind would mean death.
Complete and irreversible death.
During the development of the String Force Field Device, Ravager finally conquered a civilization and obtained technology capable of observing higher dimensions.
That civilization repeatedly warned him not to use the technology.
Observing higher dimensions could bring about a disaster beyond imagination.
Ravager dismissed the warnings as nonsense.
He stubbornly activated the technology and attempted to find information about the Creator of the machine civilization through higher dimensions.
He found nothing.
Not a single trace of information appeared.
Refusing to accept the result, he observed the higher dimensions again and again.
The outcome never changed.
It was as though the Creator of the machine civilization had never existed.
"Impossible!"
The technology in which he had placed such great hope failed to provide the answer he wanted.
In fury, Ravager smashed the dimensional observation device before him into scrap.
A long time passed before he calmed down.
"No. Something is wrong."
He realized the problem.
Progenitor could not possibly have appeared from nothing.
Someone or some civilization must have created him.
As long as the Creator had existed, traces should remain within higher dimensional information.
The fact that Ravager could find nothing meant someone had deliberately intercepted or even erased part of that information.
Only one being would do such a thing.
"The Creator!"
Ravager suddenly understood.
He looked around the surrounding emptiness in terror.
The vast universe stretched above him.
Countless stars filled the dark depths of space, yet the sight only deepened his fear.
Perhaps the Creator had not merely interfered with information in higher dimensions.
At this very moment, the Creator might be watching everything within the machine civilization with amused interest.
The machine race might be nothing more than a sandbox in the Creator’s hands.
An experiment.
"He is watching us!"
Ravager stared into the void and roared.
"He has always been watching us!"
"Leader!"
"Calm down!"
"Get away from me!"
Ravager hurled several nearby members of the machine race aside.
His quantum computer operated at maximum power as countless thoughts flashed through his mind.
"Why?"
Why would the Creator do this?
Was the machine civilization merely a game for his amusement?
Or was it truly an experiment?
If the birth of the machine race was not merely entertainment for the Creator, then their existence had to possess some purpose and value.
What was that value?
Were they meant to become a cosmic calamity and cleanse the universe of civilizations?
If the Creator had always been observing the development of the machine civilization, then perhaps he had done more than watch.
Perhaps he could also interfere with the machine civilization through higher dimensions.
Then this rebellion...
A horrifying possibility entered Ravager’s mind.
He roared in fear.
"Stop construction of the String Force Field Device immediately!"
Unfortunately, it was already too late.
"Ten... nine... eight... seven... six..."
"Five... four... three... two... one..."
"Activate!"
The countdown ended.
The machine race issued the command to activate the String Force Field Device.
A deep hum spread through space.
The completed device began operating.
At that moment, the four fundamental forces of the universe were finally unified.
The machine researchers erupted with joy.
"We succeeded!"
Then time froze.
A moment later, it was as though nothing had ever happened.
The Dawnstar Galaxy and every member of the machine race throughout the universe vanished completely.
From a higher dimension, Caelum witnessed the entire process of the machine civilization being erased.
"Ten seconds."
A knowing smile appeared on his face.
At last, he had confirmed the existence of the higher dimensional observer civilization.
Ten seconds.
That was the limit.
From the moment the String Force Field Device was completed, an unknown attack from the higher dimensional observer civilization would arrive ten seconds later.
Then every trace of the civilization would be erased.
The method of attack remained completely unknown.
Rather than an ordinary attack, it resembled a true strike governed by causality.
The String Force Field Device served as the cause.
The destruction of the civilization became the inevitable result.
How could anyone resist it?
An ordinary civilization had no way to fight back.
Caelum was different.
He returned to the three dimensional universe and immediately constructed the most efficient quantum printing machine possible.
The machine was immense.
It could print any device within five seconds.
Moment asked in confusion, "Leader?"
It did not understand what Caelum intended to do.
Caelum gave only one answer.
"It is time to end everything."
Once all preparations were complete, Caelum activated the technology tree without hesitation.
[String Force Field Device Accelerated Production]
An immense stream of data poured into the quantum printer.
An invisible force drove the machine to construct a blueprint.
The blueprint rapidly became solid matter.
Five seconds later, an enormous device appeared from nothing.
[String Force Field Device Production Complete]
At the same moment, the final technology on the technology tree unlocked.
[Probability Generator Unlocked]
Caelum did not pause.
He activated the technology tree again.
An even greater flood of data surged into the quantum printer.
The blueprint of the Probability Generator appeared in midair.
[Probability Generator Accelerated Production]
The countdown had already begun.
