Game Invasion: 100x Evolution, From Weak to God
Chapter 294: Fraudster
Marbury had hidden his identity rather well.
Before this, Caelum had not paid him much attention. Only just now did he discover that the man was actually a hostile faction player.
A Stage Two player of the Disguiser Sequence.
Perhaps he had always been a player, or perhaps someone had only recently replaced him.
In any case, he had come for Caelum. The so called arrest warrant was fake, nothing more than a way to confuse Caelum and make him lower his guard so they could seize an opening, kill him, and complete the mission issued by the system.
On the third floor across the street, a hostile faction player had hidden himself extremely well, his rifle resting at the window. The moment Caelum fired, he pulled the trigger without hesitation.
At the same time, Toru Yamamoto finished writing the final word.
An undetectable power quietly interfered with the bullet that had just left the barrel, pushing the chance of it hitting Caelum close to one hundred percent.
Wind speed.
Humidity.
Under the influence of many factors, the bullet’s path shifted slightly. Before the police officers had time to fire, it was already before Caelum.
Yet Caelum’s powerful intuition and five senses allowed him to capture the bullet’s trajectory with perfect clarity. A strange feeling rose in him. This bullet could not be dodged.
So he raised his dagger and cut it in half.
Metal struck blade with a crisp ring.
In the next instant, blade light passed through the air.
Caelum’s figure moved among the police officers. Gunshots rang out one after another, but none of them could cause him any effective harm.
At that moment, the sorrow of ordinary people was exposed without mercy.
Before Caelum, the officers had become lambs waiting for slaughter, with no strength to fight back.
A blade swept past, and a head flew into the air.
The officer beside it was terrified. He hurriedly pulled the trigger, but Caelum only tilted his head and avoided the bullet, then reversed his grip and drove the dagger into the man’s heart.
One Hit Kill triggered.
The officer died instantly.
In only a few breaths, all five officers Marbury had brought were lying on the ground. Before Caelum’s inhuman skill, they did not even get the chance to turn and flee.
Caelum stood at the doorway of his house with the blood stained dagger in his hand.
He wore a black suit, and not a single drop of blood had splashed onto him. His bearing remained flawless.
The passersby froze at the sight.
For a moment, none of them even reacted.
An old man by the street was still holding a newspaper, staring with his mouth open.
"What... what is happening?"
"Murder!"
Women who finally came back to themselves screamed and fled in panic.
The old man by the street was still caught in shock. He could not believe someone had killed five gun carrying officers with only a dagger.
"Am I dreaming?"
The street plunged into chaos.
Caelum lifted his gaze and glanced coldly at the two men leaning against the wall.
That one look sent a chill straight through Toru Yamamoto and Cross.
"Hiss!"
Toru Yamamoto sucked in a cold breath and turned to run.
"I am leaving first. This target is harder to handle than I thought. I am out."
"Huh?"
Cross had just been about to go up and fight. Toru Yamamoto’s sudden retreat left him briefly stunned, and he hurried after him.
"That is all you have?"
"Damn it, this one is fierce. I cannot handle him."
A normal player hidden among the crowd immediately began thinking of retreat. He quietly tucked the revolver in his sleeve away.
They had failed to kill Caelum with a hidden sniper shot, and Caelum had slaughtered five officers right in front of everyone. A fierce man like this was not someone they could provoke for now.
They had imagined Caelum would be strong.
They had not imagined he would be strong to this degree.
The ordinary player lowered his head and blended into the crowd. Just as he turned, someone blocked his path.
The instant he met Caelum’s gaze, his pupils shrank.
Caelum did not say a word.
He killed him with one slash.
The sniper on the third floor across the street had seen everything. He chose to run without hesitation, even throwing away the rifle in his hand, but before he could leave the room, the third floor suddenly shook.
A huge sound erupted.
Caelum leapt up and kicked through the third floor wall.
A body incapable of injury meant he could freely unleash speed, strength, and destructive power beyond the limits of the human body.
A mere wall was no different from foam to him.
The player acting as sniper felt his soul nearly leave him. He instinctively pulled the gun from his sleeve, only for Caelum to cut him and the gun in half together.
In this short span of time, Caelum killed six ordinary hostile faction players.
Only Toru Yamamoto and Cross escaped.
But that was only temporary.
Caelum had no intention of letting them go. Both sides were hostile faction players, and showing mercy to enemies had never been his style.
If he did not clean them out all at once, they might continue causing trouble later.
Besides, in his eyes, there were no secrets to speak of.
The instant they met, he had seen through Toru Yamamoto and Cross’s Sequence paths. Any little trick they wanted to play through them would be useless.
With Caelum’s current strength, he could cut through this world.
Forget a handful of players. Even if Old Gods and Outer Gods stood in front of him, he would still cut them down like vegetables.
Hurried footsteps echoed through the alley.
Toru Yamamoto and Cross moved rapidly through it, only to stop abruptly at a certain moment.
Blood slid along a blade and dripped onto the damp, dark ground.
Caelum held a dagger in his hand, blocking their path. From the look of it, he had been waiting for quite some time.
Toru Yamamoto’s face looked ugly.
"Looks like there is no escaping this time."
"Damn it, then I am done running. At worst, I die."
Cross had long since grown impatient. Unable to bear this frustration any longer, he cursed and charged at Caelum, letting out a bright tiger roar as he pounced.
"Idiot."
Toru Yamamoto cursed under his breath.
The result held no surprise.
Cross could not last even an instant. His speed and strength meant nothing before Caelum.
Caelum cut off his head on the spot.
Yet at the very instant Caelum killed Cross, the urgency on Toru Yamamoto’s face vanished, replaced by a strange smile.
He proudly made an exploding gesture at Caelum.
Then Cross’s corpse burst with violent fire.
An explosion followed, flattening all buildings within a radius of ten meters in an instant.
Surging flames burned fiercely and turned the area into a sea of fire.
Toru Yamamoto no longer had his earlier steady air. What emerged instead was reckless arrogance.
"Done. Mission complete."
He was wild with joy.
When lies and disguise were accepted, they could become reality.
Cross’s true Sequence was not Novelist.
It was Fraudster.
When Cross believed he was a Novelist, he could use the abilities of the Novelist Sequence.
At this very moment, someone in Cton believed he was an Arsonist.
So he could use the power of the Arsonist Sequence.
This was Stage Two of the Fraudster Sequence.
