Chapter 1344: Blood Infant

  • Next Chapter

Qin Sang endured the urge to ask about Bai’s whereabouts and patiently listened as Zhenyi continued speaking.

Although Bai had unraveled the Heavenly Corpse Talisman, the talisman itself still remained inside his body.

As long as neither of them deliberately concealed themselves, they should still have been able to sense each other within a certain range through the Heavenly Corpse Talisman. Yet Qin Sang had already spent so long inside the ghostly mist, and Bai still had not responded.

Could the ghostly mist even isolate the senses of the Heavenly Corpse Talisman?

"Unexpectedly, before we could approach the altar, Old Devil Ye suddenly attacked. Borrowing the momentum of the ghostly mist eruption, he forcibly scattered us apart despite our preparations, and we never had the chance to form the array. Unfortunately, I ended up alone. My perception was heavily restricted here, and the closer I got to the blood-colored altar, the greater the interference and resistance became. To be safe, I had no choice but to retreat outward for a distance and regroup with several Daoists. We were just about to return when you arrived..." Zhenyi briefly explained what had happened.

"With you here, I can finally rest easy. We must regroup with the others as soon as possible. Old Devil Ye and that devilish monster are currently atop the blood-colored altar. Who knows what they are doing? If something else is sealed inside... another devilish monster perhaps... the consequences could become disastrous."

Qin Sang more or less understood what had happened to Bai.

The Sky Eyes are less restricted here. Finding Senior Sister and the others should not be difficult. Qin Sang thought.

He glanced at the surrounding souls, ghostly mist, and blood clouds. "What exactly are these things? Were they originally present within the Immortal Tomb, or are they Old Devil Ye’s handiwork?"

A nearby Spiritual Infant cultivator spoke up, "Daoist Qin, do you still remember the Spiritual Infants captured by Old Devil Ye? I vaguely saw those Spiritual Infants refined into Blood Infants through the crystal spheres of the Nether Crystal Tower. Old Devil Ye used them to form some unknown evil array. Perception here is suppressed, the blood clouds cover the skies, and so many souls are under control. All of it should be the influence of that evil array."

Qin Sang turned toward the speaker, recalling that this man’s surname was Guan and that he came from Great Beichen Desert.

"Daoist Guan specializes in the Thousand-Chi Eye supernatural ability," Zhenyi explained, worried Qin Sang might not understand.

Daoist Guan sighed modestly. "My Thousand-Chi Eye condenses the power of the spiritual eye into a fine needle capable of piercing through space and barriers in an instant, allowing me to see objects beyond my field of vision. However, the consumption is immense. Each use leaves my eyes wracked with pain, and I must rest afterward. I have heard that your visual supernatural ability is extraordinary. I wonder when I might have the fortune to exchange pointers with you, Daoist Qin?"

"I would welcome it wholeheartedly. Once this matter is resolved, you may visit Yuanshen Sect at any time." Qin Sang’s tone remained gentle. After some thought, he continued, "So Old Devil Ye deceived Sin Abyss in order to seize the crystal spheres and the Spiritual Infants for this evil array. Did you happen to see the jade skeleton and brocade skin, or the devilish monster Old Devil Ye released?"

"The jade skeleton and brocade skin floated on the opposite side of the blood-colored altar beside Old Devil Ye," Daoist Guan replied. "But it never moved. I could not determine whether it was even alive, nor what relationship it had with Old Devil Ye."

Zhenyi glanced toward the direction of the blood-colored altar. "Right now, our only course is to regroup with the other Daoists as quickly as possible. The longer this drags on, the more likely unforeseen changes will occur."

Qin Sang shared the same thought and immediately stepped forward. "Then I shall lead the way. Daoist Master, please guard the rear."

"Alright!"

The group swiftly rearranged their formation. Qin Sang and the Spiritual Infant Talisman Puppet took the lead, while Zhenyi remained at the rear.

Just as Zhenyi had said, the resistance grew greater the closer they approached the altar.

The blood clouds stretched endlessly overhead. The Spiritual Infant Talisman Puppet charged at the very front, forcibly carving open a path through the blood clouds.

Qin Sang followed directly behind it, the ebony sword suspended upside down above his head. Sword cries rang out continuously.

Streams of sword light erupted one after another toward the front. Every sword light eliminated many souls and ghostly creatures, yet the empty space they cleared was instantly filled again.

The souls and ghostly creatures surged forward fearlessly, completely unafraid of death. Some strange connection linked them together, greatly amplifying their strength. None of them could be underestimated.

Everyone present could not help but feel as though they had barged into hell itself.

The others no longer dared hold back either. Some unleashed astras, while others cast Dao Techniques to clear the path. Zhenyi's fly-whisk had become nearly impossible to discern, transforming into a rain of white light.

With Qin Sang joining them, their speed increased substantially compared to before.

As they advanced, Qin Sang did not forget to have the Sky-Eyed Butterfly continuously use its supernatural ability, carefully observing every abnormality around them and studying the patterns of the evil array.

After traveling for some distance, the Sky-Eyed Butterfly finally discovered traces of another group. Qin Sang was just about to change direction and regroup with them when the butterfly suddenly transmitted another thought, warning him.

Qin Sang’s gaze flickered. Seemingly casual, he glanced beyond the blood clouds. To the naked eye, nothing there appeared unusual. It was merely more endless ghostly mist. But through the Sky-Eyed Butterfly’s vision, hidden blood shadows lurked within!

Remembering what Daoist Guan had said about the Blood Infant evil array, Qin Sang’s heart stirred. Without revealing anything outwardly, he secretly transmitted messages to the others and deliberately acted as though they were blindly wandering without direction.

He attempted to approach the blood shadow, but every attempt failed. The blood shadow seemed to possess intelligence. Whenever they were about to close in, it would flash away to another position, incomparably cunning.

Still, Qin Sang did not leave empty-handed during this contest of wits. There was more than one blood shadow!

These blood shadows were intricately connected to the blood clouds. All of them were Blood Infants. The blood clouds and ghostly creatures were controlled by the Blood Infants and directed to attack them.

Old Devil Ye had only captured a limited number of Spiritual Infants. Eliminating even one would weaken the evil array somewhat. Furthermore, if they could capture a blood shadow, it might help them break the array.

Qin Sang did not wish to miss this opportunity. After secretly discussing the matter with Zhenyi, they decided to make an attempt.

They continued circling cautiously for a while longer, observing the Blood Infants’ movements.

Concerned that Old Devil Ye, who controlled the evil array, might discover their scheme, Qin Sang decided not to wait any longer.

Bang! The Spiritual Infant Talisman Puppet suddenly changed direction and smashed apart a nearby mass of blood cloud.

At the same instant, every astra abruptly shifted direction without warning. For a moment, multicolored treasure light exploded simultaneously.

The fly-whisk transformed into a rain of light. Golden saber radiance tore through the darkness. A small seal engraved with ancient characters descended from above...

The Spiritual Infant Talisman Puppet charged forward ferociously, revealing a savage aura as it coordinated with the many astras to open a clear path for Qin Sang.

The next moment, a bolt of lightning ripped through the void.

Phoenix wings appeared behind Qin Sang as he unleashed both Lightning Evasion and sword evasion simultaneously. His speed reached an unbelievable level. Like a meteor tearing across the darkness, he streaked through the pitch-black ghostly mist with dazzling brilliance!

And his target was an apparently empty stretch of space. An incomparably shrill scream rang out. The Blood Infant hidden there finally revealed itself from the void after sensing danger approaching.

The instant Qin Sang saw what it looked like, a chill ran through his heart.

The Blood Infants had been refined from Spiritual Infants. They were the same size as Spiritual Infants, their facial features still intact, their transparent bodies fused together with the crystal spheres. Their intelligence had been utterly destroyed, transforming them into horrifying monsters.

They struggled to open their tiny mouths and screamed warnings at Qin Sang. Yet unexpectedly, the Blood Infants did not even attempt to counterattack. While screaming, they transformed into streaks of blood light and fled at astonishing speed.
