Chapter 1393: Chapter 690: By Any Means? Target Locked_2

The person on the other end felt incredibly guilty.

Their tone was filled with self-reproach.

Luo Fei was somewhat surprised as well.

“Sir, what’s your name, and where are you? You say you’ve committed a crime; what evidence do you have? You know, without evidence, our police can’t just arrest people indiscriminately.”

Seeing Luo Fei speak so seriously,

the person hesitated for a moment.

“Officer, to be honest, I know my guilt is severe. So I’m willing to surrender.”

“How about this, I’ll come to the Major Crimes Unit office to find you in a little while?”

“Alright, I’ll give you the address, you can come over shortly.”

After some communication between the two,

Luo Fei nearly came to an immediate agreement with the person, swiftly reaching a consensus.

Decided to return to the Major Crimes Unit.

Just after hearing this news,

Li Yu was also somewhat shocked.

“Didn’t expect this case would be solved so quickly, this is really unexpected…”

But Luo Fei only smiled and shook his head upon hearing it.

“If it were really that smooth, that would be good.”

After a while.

As Luo Fei returned to the Major Crimes Unit.

He also noticed that waiting here was not just a middle-aged man, but also a young woman.

“Officer, my dad is innocent. He’s definitely not a murderer, I can vouch for that.”

Seeing the other person being so determined.

Luo Fei was bewildered.

“Both of you, what’s the situation? Are you here to surrender, or do you find the police station amusing?”

Seeing Luo Fei was somewhat angry.

The middle-aged man hastily explained.

“Officer, actually, the situation is like this. My daughter believes that this incident is unrelated to me. And the events from back then weren’t entirely caused by me either, they happened indirectly because of my mistake.”

The man’s explanation finally enlightened Li Yu.

She finally understood why Luo Fei thought this case investigation might not be that smooth.

Though the real culprit wasn’t directly caught.

But such information still made Luo Fei somewhat curious.

“Sir, according to your statement, you know the identity of the deceased, you knew him, is that correct?”

“Indeed, officer, I knew the deceased. But reaching this point actually bears some of my responsibility.”

After the person explained,

Luo Fei knew.

It turns out.

Earlier on, the deceased and this middle-aged man were actually business partners.

The two not only graduated from the same school, they were roommates during college.

At that time, they had the same ambitions and ideals.

“We were young and spirited back then, we also believed that as long as we persisted in doing what we wanted, we would surely succeed.

But later, we realized, there’s still a gap between ideals and reality.”

The man said, taking out a photo of himself and the deceased.

“My roommate was called Zhou Lvming, he was originally a diligent and talented person, full of creativity in his work. Always coming up with ideas others couldn’t think of.”

“But because he was overly proud, he always felt that he was better than everyone else. Which often brought him unnecessary trouble.”

Initially, these two were ambitious and decided to go into business together, vowing to make a mark. But due to different business philosophies, they eventually parted ways.

“Officer, believe it or not, when we last talked, Zhou Lvming told me he had a new business plan and wanted me to actively cooperate with him. But I said I had basically exited the previous industry by then and was no longer involved in print media, so collaborating might be impossible.”

“When I look back, he was very upset at the time, asking if I had lost the ambition of the past and only thought of becoming a coward. But I said, I no longer had hope in this field and planned to focus on my own things.”

Then, not long ago,

Chen Haoren suddenly received a call,

He learned of his friend’s death from this.

“His wife told me that on that night, he was very depressed. And he didn’t sleep a wink all night, constantly smoking.”

“He also said many things to her, then went out late at night, and never came back.”

Hearing this news,

Luo Fei couldn’t help but frown.

“From the looks of it, Zhou Lvming realized he might face danger.”

“Did he mention suspecting who might want to harm him?”

Upon hearing this,

Chen Haoren sighed.

“Officer, even though I’d love to provide clues, what I know is indeed limited.”

“And we haven’t been in contact for many years. I just feel that if I could’ve stopped him in time back then, talked to him, maybe he wouldn’t have acted so impulsively?”

For a moment, Chen Haoren was silent.

Luo Fei made no comment.

“Sir, such an event is definitely not what you wanted to see.”

“But this doesn’t mean it’s your fault. Moreover, you can’t take the blame for being a murderer on yourself.”

Luo Fei’s words made the daughter suddenly agitated.

“Dad, you heard, even the police say it’s not your fault. Why must you take the responsibility on yourself?”

“Doing this is just looking for trouble for no reason.”

Chen Lili then told Luo Fei.

“Mr. Luo, it’s not just me saying this; although Zhou Lvming had great ideas and was enthusiastic in business, he often offended others. And regarding this matter, he often came to our home asking Dad for help!”

But before Chen Lili could finish,

her father interrupted.

“Lili, stop. This wasn’t his fault either. And each time I helped him, it was voluntary. I never blamed him, I did this merely as a friend, hoping he could pull himself together, find a way to solve problems when they arise – but I never complained about him.”

“I truly believed he’d achieve success in the future, but never expected it would end like this.”

At this point.

Mr. Chen couldn’t help but sigh.

Luo Fei said.

“Mr. Chen, what if I said Zhou Shu wasn’t a suicide, but a murder?”

Luo Fei’s words made Chen Haoren shudder.

“Officer, are you serious, or joking?”

Seeing the person was very shocked,

almost unable to believe his ears.

Luo Fei made no comment.

“Indeed, we just obtained the autopsy report.”

“Judging from the deceased’s condition, he should have died because of a heavy object struck to the skull. So it appears, this wasn’t a simple accident. It’s a deliberate murder. Someone intended to harm your friend.”

“It’s possible the person lured your friend out pretending to discuss business while actually planning to kill him.”

Such news made Chen Haoren shudder.

“Officer, with you saying this, I think I might have an idea what’s going on.”

Chen Haoren spoke, eyes wide.

Then, he looked anxiously towards Luo Fei.

This piqued Luo Fei’s curiosity.

“Chen Haoren, do you know something? Or do you suspect who the murderer is?”

Though Luo Fei said this,

Chen Haoren seemed hesitant.

“Officer, I’m not one hundred percent sure about this, and I don’t want to cause trouble for myself. So if I tell you what happened, can you keep it a secret for me?”

At this moment, sweat appeared on his forehead.

But his daughter said,

“Dad, this matter originally has nothing to do with us, right? Why do you want to get involved?”
