Chapter 121: Chapter 117: Successfully Developed, Super Gigantification

A few days later.

The freshmen of Yu City University received some blockbuster news.

The university was going to hold a freshman selection tournament. Twelve students would be chosen from the regular and elite classes to join eighteen students from the genius class. Together, this thirty-person team would enter the Spirit Ruins Treasure Land.

Meanwhile, various legends about the Spirit Ruins Treasure Land began to spread among the student body.

"I heard that treasure land is jointly controlled by three base cities and only opens once every three years. It’s filled with countless treasures!"

"I heard that Chen Ye from our university has been inside. The fact that he was able to evolve his Tier Four gene into a Tier Five gene has a lot to do with that place."

"Gene evolution..."

The whole campus boiled over as the news spread. Almost all the students, whether in the regular or elite classes, were passionately discussing it. But excitement aside, the students in the regular classes knew very well that this matter had little to do with them.

"Us? Competing with the elite class? Isn’t that just asking for trouble?"

"Exactly. It’s not like we’re Ji Zhixing. Besides, even he’s in the elite class now."

"Forget it. Let’s just stick to our own business."

The regular class students shook their heads, the vast majority dismissing the idea entirely. A few defiant ones signed up, but even they knew they were just there to make up the numbers.

The elite class, however, was a completely different story. Many of the over two hundred elite students were vigorously rubbing their hands together, eager to give the tournament a try.

***

Elite Class One.

On the training ground, a boy in black continuously waved his hands. Bolts of purple lightning shot from his palms, blasting the target ahead and leaving it tottering.

His name was Xu Cheng. He had fused with the Tier Three mutated Thunder Rhino gene, granting him immensely powerful lightning techniques. Previously, in the Blood Beast Secret Realm, he had even fought against a student from the genius class, holding out for over twenty moves before finally being defeated.

"One of the twelve spots in this selection tournament will definitely be mine," Xu Cheng thought to himself as he cultivated. "I’ll even fight for first place."

He stopped his movements and looked at the charred target before him, the corners of his mouth turning up slightly.

"My Purple Thunder-Attracting Technique is a four-star quality genetic ability. There aren’t many in the elite class who can stop me. That Ji Zhixing just had the good luck to take first place on the points leaderboard. But in the face of absolute strength, luck is useless."

Shaking his head, he resumed his cultivation.

***

Yu City University, Shuiyun Secret Realm.

This was a cultivation secret realm controlled by the university. It contained a vast inland lake with crystal-clear water, home to various Aquatic Genetic Beasts. Students could exchange their points for time to enter and train in the realm.

At this moment, a girl was standing steadily on the surface of the lake. It was as if an invisible force beneath her feet was holding her up, keeping her from sinking into the water.

Her name was Jiang Qingqian, and she had fused with the Tier Three Water Cloud Spirit Clam gene.

BOOM!

Beneath the surface, a massive dark shadow rushed rapidly toward her. It was a Tier Two Water Python, easily seven or eight meters long. It opened its bloody maw and lunged.

Jiang Qingqian’s expression remained unchanged. She crossed her hands in front of her chest, then pulled them apart sharply. A giant pair of scissors, woven entirely from water mist, materialized in front of her. The blades were razor-sharp and gleamed with a cold light.

SLASH!

The scissors snapped shut, cleanly slicing the Tier Two Water Python’s body in half. Blood dyed the lake red.

"There are over two hundred people in the elite class, and only twelve will be chosen," Jiang Qingqian muttered to herself, a flash of determination in her eyes. "I definitely have to fight for one of those twelve spots."

***

In the wilderness, amidst a barren cluster of hills.

A tall, heavily built man wielding a giant hammer was fiercely battling a Tier Two Iron Armor Rhinoceros.

His name was Du Zhan, and he had fused with the Tier Three Barbaric Bull Demon gene, granting him astonishing physical power. The giant hammer was half the height of a person, its head as massive as a bushel. It weighed over three hundred pounds, yet he swung it as if it were weightless.

"A selection tournament?" he grinned.

While the elite class students were gearing up for the event, the genius class students paid little attention to the matter.

This tournament temporarily had nothing to do with them. No matter who was ultimately chosen to join their team in the Spirit Ruins Treasure Land, it was all the same to them. In their eyes, whether the recruits came from the regular class or the elite class, they were merely extra baggage that didn’t warrant much concern.

Even Ji Zhixing didn’t command much of their attention anymore.

"Ji Zhixing reaped a huge harvest in the Blood Beast Secret Realm last time and took first place on the leaderboard, but that was just his good luck," a genius class student said, leaning against the training ground fence. "Entering the Spirit Ruins Treasure Land, however, relies on more than just luck; it requires real strength. Even if you get lucky and find some great treasure, you might not be able to keep it if you lack the strength to defend it."

"True," the person beside him nodded. "No matter what, Ji Zhixing only fused with a Tier Two gene. The gap between him and our Tier Four or Tier Five genes isn’t something luck can bridge."

***

The villa, Gravity Cultivation Chamber.

Ji Zhixing walked out of the Cultivation Chamber, dripping with sweat, his clothes clinging tightly to his body.

"How did it go?" Xiao Mingyue asked immediately, watching him emerge from her seat on the living room sofa.

"Still a little short." Ji Zhixing shook his head and walked over to sit on the sofa. "But it’s close. I can feel it. I should be able to master the Super Gigantification ability after a few more sessions."

He picked up the water glass from the coffee table and took a large gulp.
