Chapter 127: Chapter 121: Everyone Underestimated Ji Zhixing

Ji Zhixing stood in the arena and waited for a moment.

His gaze swept over the crowd below. The spectators were still discussing the previous battle, their voices a noisy, buzzing murmur. Not a single person stepped up to challenge him.

"Is there no one else?"

Ji Zhixing waited a while longer, but ultimately shook his head. He put away his Nine-Tiered Tide Rod, turned to walk off the stage, and arrived in front of Xiao Mingyue.

"Congratulations," Xiao Mingyue said with a smile, her eyes carrying unconcealable amusement. "Now no one will ever say your strength is lacking again."

Ji Zhixing smiled. "You’ll have to wait a bit longer," he said. "I’m planning to fight a few more matches."

As he spoke, his gaze drifted toward the other arenas in the Martial Arts Hall. He had come here to fight, to stimulate the Staff Soldier Stone Monkey genes within his body so they could rapidly evolve. During his battle with Xu Cheng, his Five-Colored Willow Mutant Tree genes had absorbed quite a bit of lightning power, but that wasn’t what his Staff Soldier Stone Monkey genes needed. They required exhilarating, unrestrained combat.

"Go ahead. I’ll wait for you down here," Xiao Mingyue said in a relaxed tone. She knew Ji Zhixing’s true strength, so she wasn’t worried in the slightest.

Ji Zhixing nodded, then turned and walked toward the nearest arena.

"What’s going on?"

"Ji Zhixing is still going to fight? He’s already fought two battles in a row, and one of them was against Xu Cheng. Doesn’t he need to rest?"

Seeing Ji Zhixing approach another arena, the crowd below instantly erupted into a flurry of discussion.

"What is he doing? Don’t tell me he’s coming for me?" The Defender of that arena was a sturdily built young man. When he saw Ji Zhixing walking over, his expression subtly shifted.

Ji Zhixing stepped onto the stage, looked at the figure opposite him, and gave a slight nod. "Shall we start now?"

The young man gasped internally. If it had been earlier and Ji Zhixing had sought him out for a match, he would have been thrilled, dreaming of defeating him and making a name for himself in one fell swoop. But Ji Zhixing had just defeated Xu Cheng. If even Xu Cheng wasn’t his match, how could he possibly win?

"Alright!" The young man took a deep breath and nodded.

The moment the word left his mouth, he raised both hands. An emerald-green vine whip materialized out of thin air and lashed toward Ji Zhixing, whistling through the air. The genes he had assimilated belonged to the Thousand-Star Soft Rain Vine. The vines it formed could be rigid or supple, capable of both long-range attacks and close-quarters defense. It was considered quite a decent ability within the elite class.

"Surging Wave."

Seeing the vine whip lashing toward him, Ji Zhixing didn’t hesitate for a second. His Nine-Tiered Tide Rod swept out horizontally. The long rod carried the sound of crashing tides as it collided with the vine whip.

CRACK!

The illusory vine whip was instantly smashed to pieces by the strike. Emerald-green fragments burst apart in the air, dissolving into specks of light before fading away.

The young man’s pupils constricted. Before he could react, Ji Zhixing had already taken a step forward, raising his rod high before bringing it down viciously with the full weight of his body.

"Sea Burial!"

The long rod descended from the sky, carrying a heavy howl of wind as it smashed straight toward the young man.

The young man’s expression grew stern. He hurriedly raised both hands above his head, summoning layers upon layers of green vine leaves from his palms to weave a thick shield.

BANG!

Ji Zhixing’s Nine-Tiered Tide Rod landed on the vine-leaf shield. In a mere instant, the thick shield was shattered and scattered into the air.

However, thanks to the momentary resistance provided by the shield, the young man below managed to slide his feet and retreat just as the Nine-Tiered Tide Rod continued its descent. He wasn’t slow. Executing a nimble footwork technique, he backed away two or three meters in the blink of an eye.

But Ji Zhixing was even faster.

Almost the exact moment the young man took his first step back, Ji Zhixing’s next strike arrived.

"Undertow."

The long rod thrust forward, silent and fast as lightning.

SWISH!

The tip of the rod shot precisely toward the young man’s throat, stopping less than an inch away in a flash.

The young man froze in place. Then, accompanied by a ripple in space, his figure was enveloped in a beam of light and vanished from the arena.

"A Tier-Two Five-Star Staff Technique! That technique of his is absolutely a Tier-Two Five-Star Staff Technique! He’s too strong!"

"Never mind his other abilities—just relying on this staff technique alone, he could probably run rampant in our elite class."

"Not necessarily. There’s still a difference between generic gene skills and self-developed gene skills at the end of the day."

"Besides, our elite class still has a few powerful individuals, like Du Zhan and Jiang Qingqian."

"Ji Zhixing’s abilities countered Xu Cheng, but they might not necessarily counter the likes of Du Zhan and Jiang Qingqian."

Witnessing this scene, the students below the stage all revealed shocked expressions.

Discussions rose and fell one after another, but Ji Zhixing paid them no mind. After defeating that student, he didn’t even pause. He walked right off the stage, headed over to another adjacent arena, and stepped up.

The Defender of this arena was a tall male student who had assimilated the Tier-Three Earth Snapping Turtle genes and was extremely skilled in defense.

Ji Zhixing exchanged the usual formalities and began fighting him. This time, it took slightly longer. He used a total of seven moves before knocking this Defender off the arena.

However, after this Defender was eliminated, Ji Zhixing followed him down. Without missing a beat, he proceeded to a fourth arena.

Then came the fifth, the sixth, the seventh...

"What is going on?"
