Chapter 29: Chapter 29: You Really Succeeded?

"What did you say?"

Sun Dajun was slightly taken aback and looked at Ji Zhixing in disbelief. "Are you saying you’ve mastered the Breaking Army Staff Technique?"

"Yes." Ji Zhixing nodded.

The other teachers also showed surprise, their gazes collectively landing on Ji Zhixing.

He Yanbing had been talking to another teacher. Hearing this, she immediately turned her head, her eyes fixed on Ji Zhixing. "Ji Zhixing, are you telling the truth?" she asked.

"It’s true," Ji Zhixing nodded affirmatively.

Sun Dajun stared at him for a few seconds before suddenly laughing. "Alright, then perform it once for me to see!"

With a thought, a yellowish-brown long staff appeared in his hand out of thin air, and he handed it to Ji Zhixing. The long staff was entirely yellowish-brown with a thick, heavy body and a rough surface, giving off a feeling of solid weight and steadiness.

"This is Genetic Equipment I bought myself. It’s similar to the Boulder Staff in the school’s equipment armory, and it also comes with the Boulder Staff Technique," Sun Dajun said. "Try using this to execute the Breaking Army Staff Technique."

"Alright!"

Ji Zhixing took the Boulder Staff, feeling a slight heaviness in his hands. Gripping the unfamiliar staff, he walked to an open clearing. He took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and then opened them again.

The next moment, he moved.

Void Shatterer!

The long staff was raised high and slashed down fiercely, carrying an indomitable momentum as if it were going to split the very void apart!

Earth Shaker!

The staff struck again, heavy and powerful. The friction between the staff and the air let out a dull howl!

Startling Thunder!

Breaking Army!

Battling the Eight Directions...

Stance after stance flowed as smoothly as water. Every swing of the staff carried a strong, army-breaking will. That will seemed to solidify into something tangible. Even from a distance, onlookers could feel that indomitable, invincible aura!

"Holy crap!"

In the distance, Liu Qifan and the others waiting for Ji Zhixing saw this scene and were instantly dumbfounded. Liu Qifan’s mouth hung wide open, his eyes bulging as if they were about to pop out. Zhang Haoceng, Luo Yongguang, and Xie Jia also looked stunned, staring blankly and speechless.

Although they weren’t very experienced, they naturally knew what it meant for Ji Zhixing to be able to execute such a powerful Breaking Army Staff Technique even after switching weapons.

"He really succeeded?" Liu Qifan muttered. "Old Ji actually mastered it?"

Zhang Haoceng gulped. "How many days has it been? How many days has he even been practicing?"

Luo Yongguang shook his head, unable to speak.

Not far away, He Yanbing, Sun Dajun, and the other teachers also revealed shocked expressions upon seeing the staff technique Ji Zhixing displayed. Sun Dajun stared at Ji Zhixing, his eyes growing brighter and brighter.

He Yanbing didn’t speak, but she was equally excited. She hadn’t expected Ji Zhixing to master the Eight Breaking Army Strikes so quickly.

The only uncertainty now was whether Ji Zhixing had developed the Innate Staff Heart ability. Such a passive ability couldn’t be tested. But for Ji Zhixing to learn the Eight Breaking Army Strikes in such a short time meant his talent for staff techniques was simply absurd. Now, even if someone told her he hadn’t awakened a staff technique talent, she wouldn’t believe it.

"Good!"

When Ji Zhixing finished the final stance and stood still with his staff drawn back, Sun Dajun was the first to start clapping. He Yanbing and the other teachers followed suit, appreciative smiles on their faces.

"Good lad!" Sun Dajun laughed heartily. "I underestimated you! I truly underestimated you!"

Ji Zhixing walked back and handed the Boulder Staff back to Sun Dajun.

Sun Dajun didn’t take it. Instead, he waved his hand and said, "No need to return it. Leave the Breaking Army Rod with me for safekeeping, and take the Boulder Staff to refine.

"Just return the staff to me once you’ve mastered the Boulder Staff Technique, or when you graduate."

Ji Zhixing was momentarily stunned before joy swelled in his heart. "Thank you, Teacher Sun!"

Sun Dajun smiled and patted his shoulder. "Train hard. I have high hopes for you."

In the distance, the students who previously hadn’t thought highly of Ji Zhixing all wore expressions of sheer astonishment after witnessing this scene.

"Did Ji Zhixing really master the Breaking Army Staff Technique?"

"It’s only been a little over half a month, right? This is a Tier One Two-Star Staff Technique, not a basic staff technique!"

Whispers rose and fell as the gazes of many changed.

"How could this guy be so fast?"

Standing in the crowd, Zhou Yuan looked at the figure surrounded and praised by the teachers in the distance, a wave of turbulent emotions surging in his heart. He had fused with the Sword Arm Mantis Gene and possessed a Tier One Two-star Blade Talent. Yet, after so much time had passed, he still hadn’t completely mastered even the basic saber technique.

But as a result, Ji Zhixing had already grasped a Tier One Two-Star Staff Technique!

"Is the gap... really this huge?" Zhou Yuan murmured.

Further away, Qi Xingzhou and the others stood together, watching the scene from afar, their expressions shifting slightly. They had all treated Ji Zhixing like a joke before. He had supposedly awakened a tier-two genetic aperture, but ended up choosing the weakest tier-one gene, even claiming he was going to develop the Innate Staff Heart talent to make his gene evolve.

If that wasn’t a joke, what was? Who could be fooled by such words?

But now...

"This guy..." Qi Xingzhou frowned slightly. "He actually managed to master it?"

"However, making a gene evolve isn’t something that can be achieved just by having a high talent in staff techniques," Qi Xingzhou added slowly, his expression darkening slightly as he cast a profound glance at Ji Zhixing from afar.

He still didn’t believe that Ji Zhixing could cause a gene like the Three-inch Stone Monkey to evolve. Gene evolution required the development of multiple genetic abilities, listening accurately to the voice of the gene, as well as vast amounts of resources and time. How could it be that easy?

"It’s a bit interesting, but even if a gene like the Three-inch Stone Monkey evolves, it will only become a tier-two gene." Even further away, the few students from Yu City Middle School were also somewhat surprised.

But soon after, they shook their heads, retracting their gazes without caring too much. The worst gene fused among them was a tier-three gene, and Gu Zheng had fused with the Tier Four Sword Feather Peacock gene. The genetic abilities they possessed were at worst three-star quality, entirely beyond comparison with these people from Yu City Third Middle School. A student who had mastered a Tier One Two-Star Staff Technique was just mediocre in their eyes.

"Teacher Sun, I’ll take my leave for now." After taking out his Breaking Army Rod and handing it to Sun Dajun, Ji Zhixing held onto the Boulder Staff, unable to put it down.

Sun Dajun smiled and waved his hand dismissively. "Go on. Train hard, and ask me anytime if there’s anything you don’t understand."

"Yes, sir." Ji Zhixing nodded and turned to leave.

Sun Dajun and the other teachers watched his retreating back, sighing in admiration.

"Teacher He, you really have a good eye," one of the teachers said. "To think you still helped him apply for Genetic Equipment from the school under those circumstances."

"With the talent this kid has shown, he might actually be able to evolve his gene."

"I feel it’s possible too," another teacher nodded.

He Yanbing nodded, then shook her head, letting out a soft sigh. "It’s just a pity. I’m afraid he won’t make it in time for this year’s Yu City University admissions."

Hearing this, the other teachers fell silent for a moment.

Yes, it was a pity. If Ji Zhixing wanted to further develop the Stone Skin and Gigantification talents, especially Gigantification, he would have to spend real, hard cash. The Stone Skin Gene Potion costs ten thousand, while the Gigantification Gene Potion costs one hundred thousand. Even if he got lucky and managed to refine some on his own, gathering that much in such a short period of time was almost impossible.

"It all depends on him," Sun Dajun said. "He has talent and perseverance. Even if he misses out on this year’s Yu City University admissions, his future achievements will definitely surpass ours."

On the other side, before Ji Zhixing could even reach the school bus, Liu Qifan and the others directly came out to meet him.

Liu Qifan’s eyes went wide as he grabbed Ji Zhixing’s arm. "Damn, Old Ji, did you really succeed?"
