Chapter 49: Chapter 49: Gigantification Potion

Nanshan Avenue was the closest trading street to Ji Zhixing. Shops lined both sides of the street, their signboards packed tightly together. Stores selling Genetic Equipment, genetic potions, and mineral materials—everything one could need was here.

The street was bustling with people, most of them wearing sturdy combat clothes with weapons slung at their waists. At a glance, they were clearly Genetic Cultivators who made their living outside the city year-round.

Ji Zhixing walked down the street, curiously observing his surroundings. This was his first time visiting Nanshan Avenue; previously, he had only heard about it from his classmates. He didn’t immediately go to sell his Hematite. Instead, he first bought a smartphone and opened a bank account.

After walking for about ten minutes, he stopped in front of a relatively large shop. The signboard read, "Tianle Equipment Store." Ji Zhixing took a look and stepped inside.

The store was spacious, with several rows of glass display cases showcasing various items. A clerk saw him enter and immediately came over with a professional smile.

"Young man, what would you like to buy?"

"I have a piece of ore here, and I’d like to ask for a price," Ji Zhixing said straight to the point.

"What kind of ore?" the clerk asked curiously. "Take it out and let me have a look."

"It’s about two meters in diameter. Please find a place for me to put it." Ji Zhixing looked around; the floor here was obviously not suitable for placing Hematite.

"That big?" The clerk looked surprised. "Please follow me to the warehouse, sir. Chen, go get the boss!"

Another clerk not far away acknowledged and quickly went to find the boss. The first clerk then led Ji Zhixing to the back of the shop. Passing through a glass door, they entered a small warehouse with several shelves set up inside.

"This spot will do. Please." The clerk stepped aside.

Ji Zhixing nodded. With a thought, the Red Iron Ore was transferred out of his Genetic Furnace and appeared out of thin air in the open space.

With a muffled THUD, the ground trembled.

The fiery red ore, over two meters in diameter, stood in the warehouse. Its surface shimmered with a dark red luster, looking particularly eye-catching under the lights. The clerk gasped and leaned in for a closer look. He then took out a scanner and probed the Hematite with it. A string of data popped up on the screen.

At this moment, footsteps echoed from the warehouse entrance, and a man in his forties walked in. Seeing the ore on the ground, his eyes lit up, and he hurried over.

"Boss." The clerk stood up and handed over the scanner. "Medium quality, and it’s huge."

"Medium quality." He nodded, looking at Ji Zhixing. "I’ll give you 1.2 million for this ore."

Ji Zhixing shook his head. He had checked the prices before coming here. Besides, according to the information he found online, this piece of Red Iron Ore should be of upper-medium quality.

"That’s too low," he said. "My Hematite is more than just medium quality. I’ve also checked the prices. Given the size of my Red Iron Ore, it’s worth at least 1.5 million."

The boss frowned. "Medium quality is medium quality; there’s no such thing as upper-medium. Seeing that you’re young, I’ll add a little more. 1.3 million. I can’t go any higher."

"1.5 million." Ji Zhixing refused to budge. "You’re a businessman. You know exactly how much this ore is worth. If you don’t want it, I’ll go ask another shop."

With a thought, he stowed away the Red Iron Ore on the ground.

The boss quickly raised his hand. "Wait, don’t be so hasty, young man." He gritted his teeth. "1.4 million. That’s my final offer. If you think it works, we have a deal."

Ji Zhixing looked at him and shook his head. "1.5 million. No bargaining."

The boss stared at him for a long moment and sighed. "Fine, fine. 1.5 million it is. You’re quite the businessman for your age."

Ji Zhixing smiled and took the ore back out. The boss took out his phone, tapped on it a few times, and transferred the money to him.

As Ji Zhixing walked out of the Tianle Equipment Store, his steps felt much lighter. 1.5 million Genetic Coins. This sum of money was enough for him to buy over a dozen bottles of Gigantification Genetic Potion. He walked down the street for a few steps and turned into a potion shop he had set his sights on earlier.

This potion shop was huge, even bigger than the Tianle Equipment Store. The counters were lined with all sorts of genetic potions, and there were several Genetic Cultivators inside.

A female clerk with a ponytail greeted him. "Hello, what do you need?"

"Do you have the Gigantification Genetic Potion?" Ji Zhixing asked.

"Yes, please follow me." The female clerk turned and led him to a display cabinet. "How many bottles do you want? The normal market price is 100,000 Genetic Coins for a bottle of Gigantification Genetic Potion. If you want a lot, we can also help you arrange it."

"I used thirteen bottles of potion to develop my Stone Skin ability, so I probably won’t need any less this time," Ji Zhixing thought. "If I buy too much, I can always sell the leftovers. I won’t lose much."

"Give me thirteen bottles," he said.

"Alright, please wait a moment." The female clerk gave him a glance, opened the cabinet, and took out thirteen bottles of Gigantification Genetic Potion, placing them into a bag.

Ji Zhixing swiped his card to pay. Of the 1.5 million Genetic Coins he had just gotten his hands on, 1.3 million was instantly gone. But the thirteen bottles of Gigantification Genetic Potion made his heart burn with excitement.

"Is that him?" he thought. However, just as Ji Zhixing walked out of the potion shop, he spotted a familiar figure in the distance. "This guy... I think his name is Chen Wenjie?"

Ji Zhixing’s eyes flashed. That figure was none other than the man wielding the Elf Longbow in Gu Zheng’s team.

"I should get out of here first," he decided. After a brief pause, he quickly left Nanshan Avenue. He wanted revenge, but lacking the strength right now, he could only avoid them.

Leaving Nanshan Avenue, he hailed a taxi and gave the address for Tingyu Garden. Sitting in the car, Ji Zhixing stared out the window, his gaze deep in thought. "I should make a trip to the market," he decided.

Upon arriving near Tingyu Garden, Ji Zhixing had already adjusted his mood. He didn’t rush home. Instead, he first went to the produce market, bought some fruit, picked out a few vegetables his sister liked, bought a fish, and got some meat cut.

"My sister is too skinny," he thought as he walked home carrying the groceries. "I need to give her a proper nourishing meal."

"Zhixing!"

As he walked through the gates of Tingyu Garden, he heard a familiar voice. Ji Zhixing looked up and saw that it was Liu Qifan. Liu Qifan jogged over and immediately gave him a playful punch.

"Hurry up and tell me everything! How did you survive out there all these days?" Liu Qifan asked. When Ji Zhixing returned yesterday, he had also texted Liu Qifan.

Ji Zhixing felt helpless and could only recount the story he had already told multiple times.

After finishing his own story, Ji Zhixing looked at Liu Qifan curiously. "What about you? What have you been busy with these days?"

"Me? I’ve been training with my uncle’s team these past few days. I’m preparing to head out of the city to hunt Genetic Beasts in a while." Liu Qifan asked, "Zhixing, do you want to join us? My uncle’s team isn’t particularly strong, but they are very experienced and have been roughing it outside the city for years. If you want, I can ask him."

Ji Zhixing shook his head. "No, thanks. I just got back, so I’m planning to rest for a while first."

Liu Qifan nodded. "That’s true. You must have suffered a lot out there this time. You really should take a break."

The two chatted for a bit longer and agreed to invite Zhang Haoceng and the others out for a meal another day before parting ways.

Ji Zhixing carried the groceries upstairs and opened the front door. The house was quiet. His parents had both gone to work, and his sister was at school. He put the groceries in the kitchen, returned to his room, and closed the door.

Sitting on the edge of his bed, he took out a bottle of Gigantification Genetic Potion from his Genetic Furnace.

"I’ll give it a try! I need to develop the Gigantification genetic ability as quickly as possible," he thought. "Since Yu City University has a self-recommendation path, I definitely have to give it a shot."
