Chapter 65: Chapter 65: Improving Cultivation

Ji Zhixing’s footsteps paused slightly, and he slowly turned around.

The golden glow of the setting sun spilled out from behind the towering gates of Yu City University, silhouetting two figures before his eyes.

One of them wore a well-tailored casual outfit, a faint smile playing at the corners of his mouth. It was none other than Qin Xiaoran, whom he had briefly met yesterday at the Radiant Mall.

Standing beside Qin Xiaoran was a young girl.

She appeared to be around seventeen or eighteen. Dressed in a white dress, she had bright eyes, a radiant smile, and skin as fair as snow. Her long, black hair was simply tied back behind her head.

Seeing Ji Zhixing look over, she gave a slight nod of acknowledgment.

"Senior Brother Qin," Ji Zhixing said, slightly taken aback before nodding in greeting.

The two had just met at the auction house yesterday; he hadn’t expected to bump into him again today at Yu City University.

"Don’t tell me you’ve already completed your genetic evolution?" Qin Xiaoran looked Ji Zhixing up and down.

"I got lucky. I just happened to complete my genetic evolution after returning yesterday."

"That’s quite a coincidence." Qin Xiaoran was surprised, not expecting Ji Zhixing to finish his genetic evolution so quickly. Curious, he asked, "If you don’t mind me asking, what did your Three-inch Stone Monkey gene evolve into?"

Hearing this, the girl beside him also looked intrigued and perked up her ears.

There were far too few people who fused with the Three-inch Stone Monkey gene. She had never even heard of anyone managing to evolve this kind of gene.

"The Staff Soldier Stone Monkey gene," Ji Zhixing answered calmly, not hiding anything.

"Staff Soldier Stone Monkey gene?"

Qin Xiaoran exchanged a glance with the girl beside him, both of them looking surprised. They had actually never heard of this type of genetic beast. However, based on Ji Zhixing’s prior performance alone, Qin Xiaoran knew that his newly evolved Staff Soldier Stone Monkey gene was definitely not weak.

Suddenly, as if thinking of something, his eyes lit up and he said with a smile, "Oh, right, let me introduce you. This is my cousin, Xiao Mingyue. She’ll be enrolling at Yu City University alongside you.

"You should know that you’ll be entering the Blood Beast Secret Realm after school starts, right?

"Do you have a team yet? If not, you can team up with my cousin. I’ll even help you find a few strong teammates to ensure you guys can farm enough Blood Crystals in the Secret Realm."

"Well..." Ji Zhixing paused for a moment before saying, "I’m sorry, Senior Brother Qin. I’ve already made an agreement with my dormmates to enter the Secret Realm together."

"Never mind then," Qin Xiaoran smiled, not minding the refusal.

The two chatted briefly for a few more sentences before parting ways. Qin Xiaoran led Xiao Mingyue deeper into the campus, while Ji Zhixing turned and continued toward the school gates.

After Ji Zhixing left, Xiao Mingyue looked at Qin Xiaoran beside her and asked, "Is he very strong?"

"Among Cultivators who have fused with Tier Two genes, he should be pretty good. Most importantly, I feel he has some potential. It might not be impossible for him to evolve his gene again in the future," Qin Xiaoran said.

Xiao Mingyue was somewhat surprised. She hadn’t expected Qin Xiaoran to think so highly of Ji Zhixing. She nodded and didn’t ask further.

On the other side, after separating from the two, Ji Zhixing headed straight out of Yu City University. Qin Xiaoran’s proposal did tempt him for a fleeting moment, but ultimately, he chose to keep his word.

"With Qin Xiaoran’s background, any teammates he finds for his cousin definitely wouldn’t be weak," he thought as he kept walking. "But I’ve already promised Ren Pingzhi and Zhao Hai. It wouldn’t be right to go back on my word."

Leaving Yu City University, he hailed a taxi and got in.

Just then, a few figures walked over from a distance, talking, laughing, and radiating confidence. The young man leading the group was tall, straight-backed, and handsome. It was Qi Xingzhou, formerly the number one student at Yu City Third Middle School.

The people with him were almost all students from Yu City Third Middle School who had previously fused with Tier Two genes.

"Huh? Isn’t that Ji Zhixing? What is he doing at Yu City University?" One person was slightly taken aback upon seeing Ji Zhixing getting into the car.

"Who knows. Maybe he knows he can’t get into Yu City University, so he came to take photos and check in as a tourist."

Qi Xingzhou glanced at Ji Zhixing and then looked away, paying him no mind. These past few days, their group had been in the wilderness hunting low-level Blood Beasts to hone their skills. Furthermore, since they weren’t in the same class as Ji Zhixing, they were still unaware of his recent affairs.

"What, is he famous?" asked a girl beside Qi Xingzhou curiously. The girl had delicate features and wore a highly expensive combat suit. She was a distant relative of Qi Xingzhou named Qi Yue, who had just arrived from Yun City Base City a few days ago, preparing to enroll in Yu City University.

"He was quite famous back in our Third Middle School, but everyone just treated him as a joke. You don’t need to mind him," Qi Xingzhou said casually, explaining how Ji Zhixing had awakened a Tier One Genetic Acupoint but claimed it was a Tier Two.

"I see." After hearing that, Qi Yue shook her head, a flash of disdain in her eyes as she also looked away. Such a person was indeed not worthy of her attention.

"Qi Xingzhou..."

In the taxi, Ji Zhixing had also noticed Qi Xingzhou’s group. Before he had awakened his past life memories, Qi Xingzhou was the number one figure in Yu City Third Middle School. Many people in the school idolized him, and he, too, had once been envious.

However, from beginning to end, the two had not interacted much. It was only during the last training trip to Shihu Town that he vaguely heard Qi Xingzhou looked down on him.

"So what if he looks down on me?" Ji Zhixing smiled. "Before, let alone others, even I looked down on myself. But from now on, everything will be different."

"We’ve arrived at Nanshan Avenue."

Riding in the car, Ji Zhixing had passed through street after street, quickly arriving at Nanshan Avenue. After paying and getting out, he navigated the familiar route and soon reached that familiar genetic potion shop.

"Please give me twenty bottles of Tier One Origin Power Genetic Potion." Entering the shop, Ji Zhixing immediately called out to a clerk.

"Please wait a moment." Hearing this, the clerk immediately turned around to fetch the Origin Power Genetic Potions.

"My Three-inch Stone Monkey gene has evolved. Now I can set my sights on breaking through to become a Tier Two Genetic Cultivator," Ji Zhixing thought as he waited. "Normally refining the genetic origin power between heaven and earth is too slow. Now that I have money in hand, I no longer have to be as stingy as before."

"Hello, here are your twenty bottles of Origin Power Genetic Potion." A moment later, the clerk walked back and handed him the twenty bottles.

"Thanks." Ji Zhixing took the potions, paid, and strode out of the shop.

"Twenty bottles... should be enough, right?" Leaving the shop, Ji Zhixing pondered to himself, "I am now a Tier One Peak Cultivator. If I don’t encounter any bottlenecks, these twenty bottles of Origin Power Genetic Potion will probably be enough."

After buying the potions, he directly hailed another car and rushed in the direction of Tingyu Garden.

Just as he returned to Tingyu Garden, he saw Wang Yan’s family standing at the residential complex’s entrance, as if waiting for someone. Seeing him, the expressions of all three changed slightly.

Ji Zhixing ignored the family and went straight home.

"Wait just a little longer, Mom. My classmate’s older brother should be here soon!" Wang Yan said after Ji Zhixing disappeared from sight.

"Brother! You’re back! Did you really get accepted into Yu City University?"

The moment Ji Zhixing pushed the front door open, a slender figure pounced on him. His younger sister, Ji Zhiyu, tilted her face up, her eyes bright. She had clearly dressed up for the occasion today, wearing a newly bought pink dress and a bow hairpin in her hair.

Now that Ji Zhixing had his own money, he had also given some to his parents and sister. It wasn’t a lot, but it was definitely enough for them to spend for the time being.

"Yes, from now on, I’m a member of Yu City University." Ji Zhixing smiled and ruffled his sister’s hair.

After successfully recommending himself, he had sent a message home. His family had been waiting for him to return. Compared to before he had awakened his past life memories, his sister was now visibly much closer to him.

"Zhiyu, don’t cling to your brother. Now that you’re back, go wash your hands and eat. The food is getting cold; we were just waiting for you." Zhang Yulan poked her head out of the kitchen, her voice carrying an irrepressible joy.

"I know!" Ji Zhiyu pulled Ji Zhixing toward the bathroom. "Brother, hurry up. I’m starving."

The family sat around the dining table. The food was steaming hot, its aroma wafting through the air. The table was filled with a lavish spread, featuring several dishes that their family rarely ate on normal days.

Ji Zhiyu was extremely excited. Raising her juice glass, she cheered, "Brother, congratulations on getting into Yu City University! Cheers!"

"Cheers." Ji Zhixing clinked his glass with hers. The glasses met with a crisp CLINK.

"Once more! Brother, here’s to you becoming a super powerful Cultivator in the future!"

"Alright, one more glass." Ji Zhixing didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, but he still raised his glass.

Ji Guodong and Zhang Yulan watched the siblings, faces beaming with smiles. Ji Guodong even uncharacteristically poured himself a glass of liquor.

Zhang Yulan constantly placed food into Ji Zhixing’s bowl. "Eat more, you’ve worked hard these past few days."

"Mhm." Ji Zhixing nodded and buried his head in his food. Having his gene evolved and entering Yu City University indeed made him feel very relaxed. He felt a grounding sense of certainty, like the dust had finally settled.

The family enjoyed each other’s company in perfect harmony, the dining table filled with joyous laughter and cheerful chatter.

However, just as their family was enjoying this heartwarming moment, several figures were currently standing at the entrance of the Tingyu Garden residential complex.

"Big Brother Song Hui, I’ve really troubled you this time." Wang Yan politely ushered a young man into Tingyu Garden.

"It’s nothing," Song Hui waved his hand. Looking at Wang Yan’s family, his face carried a hint of helplessness.

He had just left school today when his younger brother dragged him over. His brother claimed that the family living downstairs from his classmate was too much of a bully—relying on the fact that their son was a Genetic Cultivator to terrorize his classmate’s family.

"To bother me with such a trivial matter..." Song Hui sighed inwardly, feeling somewhat irritated.

He followed the group into the residential complex, but his gaze drifted toward another direction.

"Brother, what’s wrong?" his younger brother, Song Army, asked from the side.

Song Hui shook his head, thinking to himself, "Yu City Third Middle School is just a short distance from here, right? That Ji Zhixing I saw on the field today, as well as the school’s legendary figure Chen Ye—I heard they both graduated from Yu City Third Middle School."
