Genetic Evolution: Mythic Tier from the Rock Monkey Gene
Chapter 76: Super Fast Money-Making Speed
Chapter 76: Chapter 76: Super Fast Money-Making Speed
"How was it? Are you done refining? Did anything drop?" Xiao Mingyue leaned over curiously when she saw Ji Zhixing’s expression.
"One Blood Crystal dropped," Ji Zhixing said, taking out a Blood Crystal and waving it in front of the group.
He didn’t take out both of them. Ever since he realized his genetic furnace was different from everyone else’s, he had always been careful.
"Not bad!" The group’s eyes lit up when they saw the dark red crystal.
"Off to a good start!" Su Qing said with a smile. "Looks like our team is quite lucky this time."
"Let’s go, keep moving!" Feeling a bit excited herself, Xiao Mingyue clapped her hands and took the lead.
Afterward, the five of them began searching the mountain forest for Blood Beasts. Perhaps because they were close to the valley where they had first entered, there weren’t many Blood Beasts here, and none were particularly strong. The group roamed around for a long time, only managing to kill seven or eight of them.
They were all scattered, low-tier Blood Beasts, such as Blood-colored Giant Rats and Blood-colored Fang Wolves. Ji Zhixing refined another one and obtained two more Blood Crystals. Adding the two from before, he now had four Blood Crystals.
"This drop rate..." Ji Zhixing was secretly thrilled. He thought, "As long as I refine one, I get two. If word of this gets out, I’m afraid no one would believe it."
Among the others, however, only Tie Shan had a bit of luck. He refined a Blood-colored Giant Rat and obtained a Blood Crystal, while the rest got nothing.
"This place is no good. Let’s change locations and head deeper," Xiao Mingyue said, casting an envious glance at the Blood Crystal in Tie Shan’s hand. The group then proceeded deeper into the Blood Beast Secret Realm.
Ji Zhixing walked beside her and asked curiously, "With your net worth, you probably don’t care about a measly Blood Crystal, do you?"
"Well, I am quite wealthy." Xiao Mingyue nodded, then smiled. "But I’ve never earned a single genetic coin by myself in my entire life, so I’m a bit excited."
"You’ve never gone out to gain experience?" Ji Zhixing was a little surprised.
"I have, but someone always followed me, so the feeling is different." Xiao Mingyue explained, "With people tagging along, even if I kill genetic beasts and refine something from them, it doesn’t feel like I earned it myself."
Ji Zhixing shook his head, gaining a deeper understanding of these offspring of prominent families. He sighed internally, "The world of the rich is truly different."
The group continued their trek into the depths of the secret realm. Along the way, they sporadically encountered more Blood Beasts, which they conveniently dispatched. Xiao Mingyue’s luck remained abysmal; she refined five or six more Blood Beasts but still didn’t get a single Blood Crystal. Ji Zhixing glanced at her, then at the dozen or so Blood Crystals in his own genetic furnace, at a loss for words.
Excluding himself, the one who had refined the most Blood Crystals among Zhou Han and the others was Tie Shan. Yet, even Tie Shan had only harvested two. Zhou Han and Su Qing had each only gotten one. Meanwhile, Ji Zhixing harvested two Blood Crystals every time he refined a Blood Beast. When he refined a two-headed snake-like Blood Beast, he had even gotten a rare drop of three Blood Crystals at once.
He calculated silently, "At school, one Blood Crystal can be exchanged for 1,000 genetic coins. These dozen or so crystals of mine are worth over 10,000 genetic coins.
"If I can refine fifty Blood Beasts a day, I can earn 100,000 genetic coins daily. In ten days, that’s 1,000,000.
"But for anyone else, earning 100,000 genetic coins in ten days would already be considered pretty good.
"Of course, 100,000 genetic coins is not a small sum for an ordinary Genetic Cultivator either."
"Let’s go. We’ll check out somewhere else," Xiao Mingyue said, still somewhat unwilling to accept her bad luck.
The group nodded and continued forward.
"Look over there!" Suddenly, after they had been walking for a while, Tie Shan, who was leading the way, changed his expression and pointed into the distance.
The others looked up and immediately saw a valley ahead. The valley wasn’t large, with steep cliffs on both sides and a wide entrance. However, what truly caught their attention was the scene inside.
Enormous blood-colored spider webs stretched across the valley. Some hung down from the cliffs, while others spanned between trees. They were densely packed, almost covering the entire valley. Inhabiting these webs were a massive number of Blood-colored Spiders.
These spiders varied in size. The large ones were as big as millstones, looking absolutely terrifying with their eight legs splayed out. The small ones were about the size of cats and dogs, clustering together in dense swarms that would make anyone’s scalp tingle.
"So many spiders?" Su Qing’s expression shifted slightly, and she subconsciously took a half-step back.
"Could there be a Tier Two Blood Beast in there?" Xiao Mingyue stared at the spiders, her expression turning serious.
There were Tier Two Blood Beasts in the Blood Beast Secret Realm, though they hadn’t encountered any yet, likely because they hadn’t ventured deep enough. But with such a massive number of spiders in this valley, there was a high probability of a Tier Two Blood Beast being present.
"Should we give it a try?" Zhou Han was itching for action. Hunting for Blood Beasts one by one was too tedious. If they could clear out the Blood-colored Spiders in this valley, the haul would be massive.
"Will it be too dangerous?" Su Qing was a little worried. "I think we should wait until we all break through to become Tier Two Genetic Cultivators."
For cultivators who had fused with Tier Two genes, breaking through to become a Tier Two Genetic Cultivator was difficult. Even at Yu City University, it typically took a year, sometimes longer. But they were different! They had all fused with Tier Three genes and were students of the elite class.
Before officially enrolling, they had already received the perk of being able to exchange for 1,000,000 genetic coins’ worth of resources from Yu City University. Coupled with the numerous resources they had acquired in high school due to their exceptional talent, all of them were currently on the verge of a breakthrough. Furthermore, since they had all fused with Tier Three genes, the bottleneck they would face when breaking through from Tier One to Tier Two would be very small.
"I think we’ll be fine if we try," Tie Shan said in a muffled voice. "With our combined strength, even if we run into an ordinary Tier Two Blood Beast, we should be able to retreat safely—or even kill it."
"Ahem." Zhou Han cleared his throat. "I never mentioned this to you all, but a couple of days ago, I already broke through and became a Tier Two Genetic Cultivator."
"You broke through?" Su Qing and Tie Shan stared at Zhou Han with wide eyes.
Xiao Mingyue didn’t react much, seemingly having known for a while.
"Just a couple of days ago," Zhou Han chuckled. He was clearly quite smug about breaking through before the other two.
"Then let’s give it a try!" Xiao Mingyue said, glancing at the distant Spider Valley. "But it’s better to be careful. Let’s lure a few out first to gauge the situation."
The group approached Spider Valley. The spiders inside didn’t seem to notice them, remaining completely motionless on their webs.
"I’ll do it!" Tie Shan picked up a rock from the ground, tossing it in his hand to test its weight.
Taking a deep breath, he swung his right arm violently. The rock flew through the air with a whistling sound, striking a large spider with dead-on precision.
THWACK!
The rock hit the spider with a sharp crack. The impact made the spider stagger, nearly tumbling off its web. It turned its head toward Ji Zhixing and the others, letting out an angry SCREECH.
Hearing its cry, six or seven Blood-colored Spiders nearby followed it and charged toward the group.
"Here they come!" The group instantly braced themselves.
"Encircling Winds!" Xiao Mingyue focused her mind and gently waved her hands.
Immediately, streams of invisible wind encircled the group, making their bodies feel significantly lighter, as if their weight had been reduced.
"This ability..." Ji Zhixing’s eyes lit up. The skill reminded him of the weight-lightening ability inherent to Yu Zhirou’s Great Wind Bird genes. However, Xiao Mingyue’s ability could not only be applied to herself but also to others, making it clearly superior to Yu Zhirou’s.
"Let me try!" Su Qing stepped forward and thrust her hands out.
Suddenly, Flame Spirit Butterflies flew out from her palms, fluttering toward the leading Blood-colored Spider. The butterflies were entirely crimson, with tiny flames burning on their wings. As soon as they landed on the foremost spider, the flames rapidly spread.
SCREECH! SCREECH! SCREECH!
The spider let out a shrill scream, rolling frantically on the ground in an attempt to extinguish the fire. But the flames seemed almost alive, burning fiercer by the second. In the blink of an eye, the spider was reduced to a charred, lifeless husk.
"These things don’t have high fire resistance," Su Qing said with a hint of delight.
"Frost Slash!" Zhou Han shouted, stepping forward and drawing his long saber.
The blade gleamed with a pale blue, icy light. With a single swing, a blade of light carrying a profound chill shot straight toward another spider. As the light cleaved past, the spider’s body was instantly split in two. A thin layer of frost covered the wound, freezing it before any blood could even spill.
BAM!
On the other side, Tie Shan rushed into the fray. He wielded a massive shield with edges as sharp as a blade. Smashing the shield down, he obliterated a spider on the spot, sending red bodily fluids splattering everywhere.
Ji Zhixing wasn’t idle either. Charging forward, he swung his staff in a wide arc, sending two Blood-colored Spiders flying in an instant. In almost the blink of an eye, the five of them had completely wiped out the attacking spiders.
"It seems they aren’t very strong. With our strength, we should be able to wipe them all out," Zhou Han said, sheathing his long saber.
"Then let’s do it," Xiao Mingyue nodded. "But there’s no rush. We’ll lure these spiders out wave by wave like we just did to minimize the trouble."
The others nodded; no one objected.
Afterward, the group repeated their previous tactic, luring the Blood-colored Spiders out of the valley wave by wave. The spiders inside didn’t seem particularly intelligent. In a short amount of time, the group managed to pull three consecutive waves. Had they not needed to take time to refine the Blood Beast corpses, they probably could have drawn out even more.
"Keep going!" Xiao Mingyue gritted her teeth. She had just refined seven or eight Blood-colored Spiders, yet her luck remained absurdly terrible—she still hadn’t obtained a single Blood Crystal.
Ji Zhixing glanced at her but kept quiet. In just this short while, he estimated that he had earned another ten thousand or so genetic coins.
"Alright!" Tie Shan picked up another rock from the ground, preparing to lure more monsters.
However, before he could throw it, a bizarre spider’s cry suddenly echoed from deep within the valley. The sound was high-pitched and piercing, completely different from the earlier screeching of the other spiders. It carried a condescending, imposing aura.
SCREECH!
The moment the cry rang out, all the spiders in the valley began to stir in a frenzy. Instead of charging outward, they rapidly converged toward the valley’s depths.
"We can’t lure them anymore," Tie Shan said, lowering the rock with a frown.
"It must be a Tier Two Blood-colored Spider!" Su Qing stared into the depths of the valley, her expression turning grave.
