“Your ‘thank you’ felt insincere, it’s better not to say it!” Lu Tingshen knew her well; this wasn’t really her asking to stay at his place. That tone—definitely not one of begging.

They didn’t seem that close!

“Oh! Then I won’t say it.” Huo Chengying wasn’t fond of speaking much. At seventeen, she still had a bit of rebellion in her.

“What do you want to eat? Hungry?” Lu Tingshen smiled and glanced at her.

“No pork, no beef, no cauliflower, no carrots, no celery, and no dried tofu. Anything else is fine!” Huo Chengying quickly rattled off.

“Then let’s go for dessert.” Lu Tingshen knew she disliked sweets, so he raised an eyebrow and suggested.

“What do you think!” Huo Chengying replied unhappily.

“Then let’s have lamb!” Lu Tingshen deliberately proposed.

“Eating lamb in this weather? I’m just a girl, my body feels weak, lamb is fine for me, but are you sure you, a grown man, want to eat lamb? Aren’t you afraid of overdoing it and getting a heat stroke?” As Huo Chengying spoke, she glanced downward at him.

“What messy thoughts are you having, young lady?” Lu Tingshen chuckled helplessly. “Alright, let’s go have fish then!”

“No, I think lamb sounds good.” Huo Chengying insisted on being contrary. “Uncle, why don’t we go for lamb hotpot, the extra spicy kind.”

“I surrender.” Lu Tingshen raised both hands in defeat. “Let’s have something lighter.”

He was just teasing Huo Chengying; this little girl sometimes acted so mature.

Just wanted to see her change expression.

“Come on, let’s go have fish!” Huo Chengying said.

Lu Tingshen specifically took her to a lakeside restaurant specializing in fish. As they entered, Huo Chengying remarked, “My mom loves fish. When she visits, I can bring her here to eat.”

“Your mom attracts too much attention. If someone recognizes her, it’ll be hours before we can leave.” Lu Tingshen led her inside.

After they ordered food and were waiting for it, they saw a woman approaching them.

Her eyes filled with surprise.

“Mr. Lu, I didn’t expect to meet you here. Are you here to eat too?”

Xu Yijiao was just here with a friend today but ended up seeing Lu Tingshen.

Ever since accompanying her dad to a banquet, she’d taken a liking to Lu Tingshen.

Seeing him again made her heart flutter.

“Miss Xu.” Lu Tingshen greeted politely but distantly.

“Mr. Lu, you can call me Yijiao. Since you’re business partners with my dad, there’s no need to be so formal with me.” Xu Yijiao boldly initiated the conversation with a guy for the first time.

“Uncle, can people fish outside there?” Huo Chengying realized Lu Tingshen didn’t want much interaction with Xu Yijiao, so she helped him out.

“That’s right. But the sun is too intense now; if it’s evening, I could take you to try.” Lu Tingshen looked outside, “If you’re still having dinner here tonight, we can go.”

“No need, I’m not that into fish.” Huo Chengying shook her head. Though she could endure loneliness, she didn’t enjoy fishing.

“Mr. Lu, is this your niece? Hi, I’m Xu Yijiao, a friend of your uncle’s. You can call me sister, or aunt.”
