Chapter 51: Chapter 51: Who Is He?

"In terms of student education, our school and teachers adhere to a philosophy of guidance and encouragement. As long as we put in the effort, I believe there’s no such thing as an unteachable student."

Li Beixing sat up straight. "Of course, this requires the cooperation of parents and students. After all, if it’s only a unilateral effort from the school and teachers, nothing can be accomplished."

"Teacher Li, you are absolutely right," Chen Jingle smiled, keeping his attitude very humble. "As parents, we will definitely take the initiative to cooperate and do our best to raise our child well."

"It’s naturally wonderful that a parent has such a mindset." Li Beixing nodded. She turned and dug out a form from a pile of documents, handing it to Chen Jingle. "These are Chen Qiyun’s quiz scores since the semester started. She’s doing okay in the other subjects, but her math and English are a bit weak. If possible, it would be best to get her some after-school tutoring."

"Understood. Thank you, Teacher Li."

Chen Jingle took the form and glanced at it. "Hmm, Li Beixing is being too tactful," he thought.

In his eyes, her scores weren’t just a bit weak—they were complete trash!

"If she’s already failing middle school math and English, won’t she just score thirty or forty points in high school?" he wondered.

People always said to switch to the liberal arts track if you couldn’t handle the sciences, but with these grades, taking liberal arts felt like a dead end too. After all, liberal arts students still had to take math and English exams. The total score of both subjects combined wasn’t even as high as a normal student’s single subject score. What was the point?

Unconsciously, Chen Jingle’s eyebrows knit together into a deep frown, his expression sinking like still water.

Watching him, Li Beixing was secretly amused. She took the initiative to break the silence. "Mr. Chen, don’t be so quick to get angry. The new semester just started not long ago, so she might not have adapted yet. We still need to focus on guidance and encouragement."

Chen Jingle took a deep breath. "Thank you for the reminder, Teacher Li. I understand. I’m not exactly angry, because everyone’s talent is different. Most of the time, hard work can only raise the lower limit; it can’t break through the upper ceiling.

"If Chen Qiyun worked hard and could still only get this score, it would mean she just isn’t good at studying, and there’s no need to force it. However, since this is due to laziness, I will have a good talk with her when we get back. Rest assured, I will still focus on guidance and encouragement."

"You’re quite open-minded, Mr. Chen. Chen Qiyun is lucky to have an older brother like you," Li Beixing smiled faintly.

Chen Jingle shook his head. "I wouldn’t say that. It’s just that having been caught in the rain myself, I don’t want her stepping into the same puddles I did."

Li Beixing was very satisfied with this conversation. From beginning to end, the atmosphere had been relaxed and pleasant, as well as highly efficient and smooth. It was much better than dealing with certain unreasonable parents.

Checking the time, she said, "How about this: since class hasn’t started yet, why don’t we go to the classroom to see Chen Qiyun?"

Chen Jingle had no objections. "I’ll follow your lead, Teacher Li."

One could say that in this conversation, both parties had engaged in a cordial and friendly meeting, fully exchanging opinions while expressing mutual respect and appreciation. By enhancing the understanding between the teacher and the student’s guardian, both sides successfully reached a consensus on the issues of Chen Qiyun’s family and school education.

After the two walked out of the office, the teachers who had just been pretending to work instantly turned around. Exchanging glances, knowing smiles spread across their faces.

"That conversational skill—you can tell at a glance he’s highly educated, with an excellent family upbringing and personal refinement."

"Exactly. He looks very young, but his pacing when he speaks is steady and unhurried. He has clear thinking and is mature and composed. He’s much better than a lot of young people nowadays."

"It really is easy to spot an outstanding person at a glance."

"They’re a perfect match!"

"Eek! Be that as it may, don’t play matchmaker blindly. If Teacher Li finds out and gets mad, the consequences will be severe."

"Hey, hey, I was just saying it casually. You guys didn’t hear anything."

Outside Class 2, Grade 8.

"Chen Qiyun!"

Li Beixing stood outside the classroom door and called in, immediately drawing the attention of many students.

Chen Qiyun had been zoning out, wondering, "Did Chen Jingle arrive yet? If he did, how did the talk with Teacher Li go?"

For a moment, she actually didn’t hear Li Beixing calling her.

"Chen Qiyun, Teacher Li is calling you," her deskmate said, patting her arm.

Only then did Chen Qiyun snap out of it. Turning her head, she spotted Chen Jingle standing behind Li Beixing. Her eyes instantly lit up. Unable to suppress her joy, she hurriedly jogged out on her short little legs.

Seeing this, the surrounding students looked at each other in dismay.

"Holy crap, Sister Yun actually smiled! What’s going on?"

"That’s the first time I’ve ever seen her smile so happily."

"Who’s that guy behind Teacher Li? So handsome!"

"Whoa... Could it be Teacher Li’s boyfriend?"

"Huh? Teacher Li has a husband? When did she get married?"

The students in the row closest to the corridor stretched their necks and pricked up their ears.

Facing both Li Beixing and Chen Jingle at the same time, Chen Qiyun was uncharacteristically restrained.

Li Beixing smiled with gratification. "Chen Qiyun, your brother and I just had a chat about some things concerning you. He mentioned that you’ve still been studying hard at home lately. For this, I must praise you."

Hearing this, Chen Qiyun looked a bit bashful. Her cheeks warmed slightly, and the corners of her mouth curled up.

Li Beixing instantly felt that Chen Jingle was a remarkably good judge of character. To deal with someone like Chen Qiyun, who had a slightly rebellious personality, encouragement was indeed far more effective than criticism.

"However, your math and English scores are quite weak compared to your other subjects. I hope you can spend a little more effort on these two classes and strive to raise your grades, or at least try to pass. Can you do that?"

Chen Qiyun looked hesitant, but she nodded anyway.

Li Beixing reached out and stroked Little Douding’s small ponytail. "You don’t need to worry too much. The level of knowledge in middle school is relatively simple as long as you put your heart into it. Besides, I believe your brother will tutor you."

Chen Jingle was left completely speechless.

"No way. English is fine, but as for my math knowledge, I returned it all to my teachers ages ago!" he thought.

However, facing their expectant gazes, Chen Jingle refrained from saying anything to spoil the mood. He would just agree to it for now.

If Chen Qiyun really needed his help with her homework, English wouldn’t be a problem. As for math, he’d cross that bridge when he came to it. If push came to shove, he could just use a system-assisted software. He would treat it as a refresher course on middle and high school knowledge. It wasn’t like he was aiming to solve some top-tier mathematical conjecture anyway.

When Chen Qiyun returned to the classroom, some students stopped her to ask, "Sister Yun, who was that guy?"

"My brother," Chen Qiyun said, her chin lifting slightly.

"Hiss..."

Hearing this, her classmates instantly exclaimed, "Your brother is that handsome?"

"How come you never mentioned you had a brother?"

"Does your brother have a girlfriend yet? What do you think of me?"

"You’re crazy!" Chen Qiyun rolled her eyes. "How old are you? My brother is already thirty."

"Thirty?!"

The classmates were astonished. "He doesn’t look it at all! Teacher Zhou, that slightly bald literature teacher from the next class over, is also in his thirties, but he looks so old."

"My brother just looks young," Chen Qiyun huffed. Getting a bit annoyed, she waved her hand. "Alright, class is starting. Stop talking."

Only then did the surrounding students dejectedly shut their mouths. However, everyone was still very curious about the fact that Chen Qiyun had a handsome older brother. The news quickly spread throughout the class.

Meanwhile.

Li Beixing and Chen Jingle stood facing each other.

"That is basically the situation," Li Beixing blinked. "Do you have any other questions, Mr. Chen?"
