Chapter 1264 - 1261: Secondhand Goods

  • Next Chapter

Long before this, lots of people had already discussed forming teams to travel together.

"Zhang Han!" an excited voice shouted.

Chu Hao turned his head and saw Du Peng's overjoyed face.

Seeing Du Peng, Chu Hao also smiled and said, "You came too."

Du Peng laughed. "Bro, didn't expect us to meet again this soon."

Du Peng gave Chu Hao a bear hug and said, "By the way, have you seen my wife?"

Your wife?

Du Peng's wife-to-be was named Nie Feifei; Chu Hao knew that much, but he'd only just arrived at the Purple Guard and hadn't actually met Nie Feifei yet.

"Haven't seen her. You planning to find your wife and travel together?" Chu Hao asked.

Du Peng chuckled. "Gotta cultivate our feelings, you know."

Chu Hao was puzzled—why didn't he just contact her directly? The Shanhai Platform's Stone Talismans were really convenient.

"Come on, let's head out first," Xiao Bai said.

The three of them left the camp. Du Peng's eyes were sharp; he spotted his fiancée and shouted excitedly, "Feifei."

Du Peng's fiancée was indeed a Purple Guard, but a Lower-Rank Purple Robe Guard.

This Nie Feifei looked pretty decent. It seemed their two families had arranged a marriage alliance, and Du Peng himself was quite satisfied with this fiancée.

Hearing someone call her, Nie Feifei turned her head and saw Du Peng.

Du Peng hurried over and said, "Feifei, I've been trying to contact you all this time."

Nie Feifei said, "Du Peng, you came too?"

Du Peng laughed heartily. "I'm a Purple-robed Student now."

"Feifei, come with me, yeah? I'll introduce you to a friend," Du Peng said expectantly.

Nie Feifei said awkwardly, "I already promised to team up with someone else."

"Oh! That so? It's fine, I'll just follow along with you," Du Peng said, having been looking forward to meeting Nie Feifei again for a long time.

In Nie Feifei's team, a handsome, jade-faced man frowned and said, "Feifei, who is he?"

Nie Feifei panicked a little and quickly said, "Senior Han, he's my childhood friend."

Purple Guard Han Xuezhang smiled and said, "Since he's your childhood friend, let him come along with us."

Du Peng was happy to; wherever Nie Feifei went, he'd follow. That was how you cultivated feelings.

But Nie Feifei shook her head and said, "Du Peng, we should still go separately."

Du Peng said awkwardly, "Feifei, I won't drag you down."

Nie Feifei still shook her head. "I think it's better if we split up."

Du Peng was a bit confused.

Han Xuezhang grew impatient. He stepped up and wrapped his arm around Nie Feifei's waist; she didn't reject him, and he said, "Let him follow if he wants. It's not like he can keep up with us anyway."

Seeing this, Du Peng's eyes went wide.

Du Peng roared angrily, "Take your hand off her."

Everyone froze for a second, then burst into loud laughter.

"Where'd this idiot crawl out from?"

"Is this some kind of comedy act?"

Han Xuezhang said coldly, "Feifei, what exactly is your relationship with this idiot?"

Nie Feifei said, "Senior, the family wanted me to marry him, but I've always been against it. Now I'm already your woman, and I'll definitely follow you properly."

It was like thunder blasting through Du Peng's skull.

Du Peng said agitatedly, "Feifei, y-you… what's wrong with you? We were doing perfectly fine before."

Nie Feifei said coldly, "Du Peng, I was against this marriage from the very beginning. If you weren't a close family friend, do you really think you'd be worthy of me?"

Du Peng was dumbfounded.

Nie Feifei said indifferently, "Please don't come bothering me again in the future."

Du Peng clenched his fists, staring fixedly at Han Xuezhang. "I want to duel you."

Everyone burst out laughing.

Han Xuezhang dug at his ear and said, "What did you say? Say that again."

Du Peng released his Curse Body. His Yang Energy surged, like a lion gone mad. "I want to duel you."

Han Xuezhang said coldly, "You think you're qualified to duel me? You? Trash."

Yang Energy coiled around Han Xuezhang's fingertips, talisman patterns forming in his palm as he slammed out with one strike.

Du Peng roared, his Yang Energy pushed to the limit, yet he was still blown away by that single palm, slamming into the ground and spitting blood.

The gap in strength was far too great.

Unwilling to accept it, Du Peng climbed back up. His burly body stood like a tough, solid wall.

In the distance, Xiao Bai said, "Aren't you going to help?"

Chu Hao folded his arms and shook his head. "Let him get beaten; it's good for him. First he needs to figure out whether a woman like that is even worth lifting a finger for."

Xiao Bai nodded as well.

Du Peng charged out again, releasing the Raging Lion Curse Seal. In that moment he was like a mad lion, his combat power multiplied several times over.

But even such innate talent wasn't worth mentioning in Han Xuezhang's eyes.

Han Xuezhang formed a seal with one hand. Talisman Papers appeared in the space all around, and a powerful impact directly blasted Du Peng away.

Du Peng spat blood and fell to the ground.

From start to finish, Nie Feifei only sighed and said, "Senior Han, let's go."

Han Xuezhang withdrew his hand and said, "Alright, for Feifei's sake. If I see this kid again, I'll cripple him."

Everyone was just about to leave.

"Stop!"

Du Peng struggled to his feet. He panted heavily and said, "Nie Feifei, I just want one answer from you—do you like me or not?"

Nie Feifei shook her head and said, "Never have."

Du Peng laughed wildly, blood dripping from the corner of his mouth, his eyes full of rage and icy coldness. "From now on, we're cut clean, once and for all. Senior Han, right? Thirty years east of the river, thirty years west. You call me trash—when the time comes, I'll see for myself which one of us is the real trash."

Han Xuezhang's face turned frosty, clearly provoked. "You looking for death?"

A long blade appeared in Han Xuezhang's hand as he charged forward. In his view, killing a Purple-robed Student would at most earn him a minor punishment, nothing serious at all.

Du Peng's pupils shrank. The other man was too fast, approaching with something like a divine Escape Technique. Du Peng squeezed his eyes shut.

"Clang!"

Sparks flew. A sword blocked the descending blade.

Du Peng opened his eyes and saw the back of a young man standing in front of him.

Du Peng grit his teeth, wanting to cry. "Zhang Han! I…"

Chu Hao said, "I was starting to think you'd never wake up. If that were really the case, we might as well pretend we never knew each other."

Seeing Zhang Han block his blade, Han Xuezhang's face twisted with anger. "Zhang Han! You planning to stick your nose in this?"

Chu Hao chuckled. "I'm only doing it for my brother's sake. Trash like you isn't even worth me making a move."

'Ding… Pretending successfully, gained 70,000 Pretentiousness Points.'

Han Xuezhang was furious. Calling him trash?

He, Han Shan, was at least a Middle Stream Purple Guard, his strength at the Yin-Yang Master Dacheng Stage. Among the middle ranks, he was a highly reputable figure.

The other Purple Guards all closed in. Some of them had already long found Chu Hao an eyesore.

Du Peng suddenly grew nervous. These people were Purple Guards. Chu Hao had only just arrived and was already making so many enemies; that couldn't be good for him.

Chu Hao said, "Du Peng, if you see me as a brother, then listen to me."

Du Peng said, "Yeah."

Chu Hao said swaggeringly, "Think about it from another angle: you've played with his girlfriend for over ten years, and he's just taking in a second-hand good and still acting all proud about it. Doesn't that sound like a great deal?"

'Ding… Sarcastic pretending successful, gained 70,000 Pretentiousness Points.'

Everyone was dumbstruck.
