Chapter 515: Chapter 403: "Mermaid’s Tears": The Pirate King’s Treasure Appears
"Are there any higher bids?"
The auctioneer, Falek, scanned the crowd and asked in his rousing voice.
"This is a Tier Five Black Dragon’s Reversed Scale! If you miss out this time, who knows how long you’ll have to wait to find another!"
"Nine thousand Golden Dragons."
A calm voice spoke up from a corner.
All eyes immediately turned to the gray-robed old man who had been silent until now.
Master Antonio had finally made his move.
Cassandra’s expression changed slightly.
She glanced at Antonio and gritted her teeth.
"Nine thousand five hundred Golden Dragons!" she raised her bid again.
"Ten thousand."
Antonio’s tone was still calm, as if he hadn’t just bid ten thousand Golden Dragons, but ten thousand Copper Coins.
Cassandra’s chest rose and fell sharply.
She desperately wanted to continue, but reason told her she couldn’t.
Competing with someone from the Mage City was not a wise decision.
In the end, she reluctantly sat back down.
"Ten thousand Golden Dragons, going once! Ten thousand Golden Dragons, going twice! Sold!"
Falek brought his gavel down hard.
"Congratulations to Master Antonio for winning this precious lot!"
A smattering of applause echoed through the hall.
"It looks like that master is dead set on getting his hands on Giant Dragon materials."
Raylo said softly as he watched the scene.
"Many of the Mage City’s research projects are related to Giant Dragons," Marquis Orlando explained.
"Their obsession with Giant Dragons has reached a near-frenzied point. They’re willing to pay any price to obtain high-quality Giant Dragon materials."
Raylo nodded.
The next few lots were also Giant Dragon materials.
There were the sinews of a Green Dragon, the twin eyes of a Blue Dragon, and even a complete pair of Dragon Wings from a Domain Level Red Dragon.
Without exception, all of these lots were snatched up by Master Antonio for a price far exceeding their market value.
Each of his bids was made with an air of casual indifference, yet they held an undeniable, commanding presence.
’In his private room, watching Antonio throw his money around, Raylo was bursting with joy. The Giant Dragon materials he’d put up for auction had all been acquired from the Giant City-State at an extremely low cost. Now, after this shopping spree by the Mage City, they had been turned into glittering Golden Dragons. This deal was simply too profitable.’
Raylo had expected his deal with the Giant City-State to be a windfall, but he never imagined it would be such a massive one.
The auction continued.
One precious lot after another was brought to the stage, only to be snapped up by wealthy buyers for one jaw-dropping price after another.
Among them, several complete sets of Tier Five Magical Beast Materials sold for as high as thirty to forty thousand Golden Dragons.
The atmosphere in the entire auction hall remained in a state of frenzy.
Raylo’s coffers were filling up at an astonishing rate.
’He did a quick mental calculation. In just over an hour this morning, the Magical Beast Materials he’d sold had already earned him nearly three hundred thousand Golden Dragons. Making money this fast is even quicker than outright robbery.’
Raylo had expected the trade with the Giant City-State to make money, but he hadn’t imagined the profits would be this immense, reaching nearly ten, or even dozens of times, his initial investment.
’It feels so good to be rich.’
Raylo leaned back on the soft sofa. ’With this money, I can finally stop holding back and really make something happen. Expand my army, upgrade our equipment, build a castle, improve the lives of my people...’
The atmosphere of the auction grew more and more heated. Lot after lot was presented on the auction block, causing wave after wave of gasps and fierce bidding.
Raylo was in high spirits. Watching his treasury fill up so quickly was a truly wonderful feeling.
Time slowly passed amidst the sounds of fierce bidding, and the auction gradually approached its end.
The atmosphere in the hall, far from cooling down in the slightest, had instead become even more feverish.
Because everyone knew that the real show was just about to begin.
"Ladies and gentlemen!"
The auctioneer Falek stood on the stage, his voice full of excitement.
"This next lot is extremely special!"
He took a deep breath, deliberately building suspense.
"I believe that many of our friends here today have heard of a certain Legend."
"A Legend concerning the Legendary Pirate King, ’One-Eyed’ Barbossa!"
’One-Eyed’ Barbossa!
The moment this name was spoken, low gasps of surprise came from the hall, especially from the sailors and merchants who made their living on the Endless Sea.
That was a legendary figure from several hundred years ago who roamed the entire Endless Sea and struck fear into the hearts of every Kingdom’s navy!
It was said that the wealth he had amassed was enough to buy an entire Duchy!
"The story goes that before his death in Seagull Port, ’One-Eyed’ Barbossa buried the treasure he had plundered throughout his life on a secret, unknown island. He then hid the secret to the Treasure Map within a bottle of his most prized rum."
"Most importantly, legend has it that Barbossa’s treasure contains the ultimate prize: the ’Heart of the Deep Sea.’ Whoever possesses the Heart of the Deep Sea is said to be able to control the Catastrophe Level Deep Sea Giant Whale that destroyed Seagull Port."
Falek’s voice was filled with mystery and temptation.
"And today, we are fortunate enough to bring this legendary bottle of rum before you all!"
He waved his hand dramatically.
A serving girl cautiously walked onto the stage, carrying a tray.
