Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle
Chapter 1297: Power Cores
"Maybe we can make a trade."
Vasco looked at Wallace for a moment.
"What do you have?"
Wallace smiled.
"Stable Power Cores."
Vasco’s expression immediately changed.
"You have Power Cores?"
"Quite a few, and they’re not just any Power Cores... They’re high-grade ones."
Wallace didn’t bother hiding his confidence.
The Codebreakers Guild had accumulated a large number of Power Cores through their various expeditions, and Wallace had received his own share from completing missions and exploring different apocalyptic regions.
For the Codebreakers, they were useful, but they weren’t exactly rare.
However, after hearing Vasco’s explanation, Wallace realized that they might be much more valuable here.
"How many can you provide?" Vasco asked.
"That depends," Wallace replied. "What can you offer me?"
Vasco thought for a moment. He knew that Foreign Survivors had strange subspace inventory with them and could carry a lot of things...
After considering his budget for a moment, he replied.
"I don’t have many resources to spare."
Wallace shook his head.
"I’m not interested in resources."
"Then what do you want?"
Wallace glanced toward the harbor.
"One of your ships."
Vasco was slightly surprised.
"A ship?"
"Yeah. Even a small one is fine."
Wallace shrugged.
"I’ve got plenty of Power Cores, but finding a good ship that’s actually functional isn’t easy in this apocalypse. If I can get one from you, I’m willing to trade crates Power Cores for it."
Vasco remained silent for a moment before looking toward the ships docked nearby.
"You really want one?"
"Of course."
Wallace smiled.
"I’ve been looking for a decent ship for a while."
He then pulled out a strange glass bottle from his storage equipment.
Reese and the Supersoldiers immediately looked at it with curiosity.
"What is that?" Wade asked.
"A Storage Bottle."
Wallace held it up and gave it a small shake.
"It can store certain large objects, including ships. Once the ship is stored inside, I can carry it around in my inventory without having to worry about its size."
Reese’s eyes widened slightly.
"That’s convenient."
"Yup... Very."
Wallace looked toward Vasco.
"So, what do you say?"
"If you’re really willing to trade Power Cores for a ship, then we can probably work something out."
With Shane’s access to Anima Store and several other Shelters willing to trade resources to them, they just needed some manpower to build a ship. Resources weren’t a problem anymore.
Furthermore, with the Mute Builders around who were capable of building anything, it should only take a few days to make one...
With that in consideration, Vasco decided to trade one of his project ships to Wallace once he got permission...
"I’ll contact the boss first... For now, come take a look. I’ll show you which ships are available."
Wallace immediately followed him.
Reese and the Supersoldiers exchanged glances before following them as well. They had nothing to do, so they might as well tour the ships as well.
"We can probably work something out."
Wallace immediately smiled.
"Then show me what you have. I’m curious..."
Vasco nodded and began walking deeper into the harbor.
"You will not be disappointed."
Wallace followed closely behind, his eyes constantly moving across the various ships docked along the waterfront.
There were several different types of vessels here.
Some were relatively small and designed for speed, while others were much larger and had enough space to carry considerable amounts of cargo. There were also ships with enchanted hulls, expanded storage areas, and various defensive modifications.
All of them were in good condition.
However, Wallace quickly noticed that each ship had room for further improvements.
"This one?"
He stopped beside a medium-sized vessel.
Vasco nodded.
"It’s one of our faster ships. The engine is good, but the hull could still be modified if you want better protection."
Wallace walked around it, inspecting the exterior.
"What about this one?"
"Cargo ship. It’s slower, but it can carry a lot more."
Wallace nodded before moving on.
"And that?"
"Long-range vessel. We’ve been working on improving its fuel efficiency."
Wallace’s eyes continued to wander around the harbor.
He was becoming more and more interested.
The ships weren’t simply ordinary boats. They had been carefully maintained and modified to survive in the apocalypse, and some of the designs were clearly the result of Vasco’s own work.
"This place has quite a collection."
Vasco nodded.
"Aside from building them, we’ve been collecting ships whenever we find them. Most of them needed modifications when we first obtained them, but they’re all functional now."
Wallace looked impressed.
That was exactly what he had been looking for.
Finding a functional ship in an apocalypse wasn’t easy, especially one that could actually be used for long-distance travel.
After looking at several more vessels, Wallace finally stopped.
"What about that one?"
He pointed toward a smaller ship docked slightly farther away.
Vasco followed his gaze and smiled...
"That one? She’s smaller than the others."
"That’s fine."
Wallace smiled.
"I don’t need a huge ship. I just want something reliable that I can use when I need to travel by sea."
Vasco nodded before leading him toward the vessel.
"This one is relatively fast, easy to operate, and doesn’t consume too much energy. I’ve also upgraded several parts of the engine."
Wallace stepped aboard.
He inspected the control panel, walked through the interior, checked the storage area, and even examined the engine room.
The longer he looked, the more satisfied he became.
"Not bad..."
He turned toward Vasco.
"I’ll take this one."
Vasco smiled.
"Then we just need to discuss the price."
Wallace nodded.
"How many Power Cores do you want?"
Vasco then saw a rat climbing from his feet and immediately knew that it was Fiona... As expected, he was given permission to trade one of the small units for Power Cores...
He then thought for a moment before giving him a number.
"Two thousand..."
The amount was absurd since a single ship just needed about 200 of them... However, they had other expenses that had to be considered. Furthermore, Vasco knew how important a functioning ship with high-tech equipment was.
Wallace didn’t hesitate.
"Deal."
He immediately took out several bags of Power Cores from his storage equipment.
Vasco’s eyes lit up when he saw them.
"These are exactly what I need."
"Then I guess we both got what we wanted."
"Looks like it."
Wallace then took out the strange storage bottle he had shown them earlier.
He opened the bottle and aimed it toward the ship. Soon, a faint light suddenly enveloped the vessel.
A few seconds later, the entire ship rapidly shrank and was pulled into the bottle.
