Global Flood: I Survive on Duckweed

Chapter 443: Gravity Research, Seeking to Purchase Data

“Why?” Xin Wan grew anxious at once when she heard her father refuse to live at the Peach Blossom Base.

Xin Yu gestured for her to calm down and explained, “Based on Wan’er’s description, the Peach Blossom Base doesn’t seem to have the right conditions for scientific research. I think we can be of most use over at the Dragon Base!”

Ren Yuanyang nodded slightly and replied with a smile, “It’s true that the research needs to be done at the Dragon Base, but that doesn’t stop you from living here! With the speed of our current speedboats and the location of the Dragon Base under construction, it’ll take half an hour at most to get there.”

“But scientific research requires a closed-off management system. That’s one of the clauses in the agreement we signed!” Xin Yu frowned slightly.

“That’s to restrict foreign scientists. As a citizen of the Dragon Country, you wouldn’t leak secrets, would you!” Ren Yuanyang asked in return.

“Of course I wouldn’t leak anything, but to avoid gossip, I’d rather not take this special privilege and just be like everyone else!” Xin Yu shook his head. “Besides, a closed-off environment is more conducive to our research!”

Ren Yuanyang was taken aback. He hadn’t expected Xin Yu to be such a research fanatic!

‘I knew this would happen!’ Xin Wan felt a bit helpless, but she still supported her father’s decision.

“You’ve just been reunited. Rest for a few days before reporting to the Dragon Base research institute!” Ren Yuanyang said after a moment’s thought.

Xin Yu frowned slightly. “That’s no problem for me, but as for the Dragon Base…”

“Don’t worry! They won’t have any objections!” Ren Yuanyang replied.

Xin Yu paused, startled, then hurriedly thanked him, “Alright, thank you, Leader!”

“It’s nothing,” Ren Yuanyang replied. “Xin Wan, don’t forget to get two Evolution Potions for your parents!”

“Yes, thank you, Leader!” Xin Wan replied.

Ren Yuanyang waved his hand and turned to walk toward his office.

After he left, Guo Yao immediately pulled Xin Wan aside and whispered, “Your leader seems like a decent man. Haven’t you tried seeing where things could go with him?”

Xin Wan’s face flushed slightly. “Mom, look at the times we’re in! How can you still be thinking about that!”

“The propagation of the human species is of the utmost importance!” Guo Yao said righteously. “If humanity can’t continue to reproduce, then no matter how many miracles we create, it will all be meaningless!”

Xin Wan was momentarily stunned, then shook her head. “Our leader is a god. As long as I can stay by his side, I want for nothing else!”

“A god?” Xin Yu’s brows furrowed deeply. “Aren’t you a staunch atheist? Or has your leader bewitched you?”

Xin Wan shook her head again. “Someone who can casually modify plants, animals, and machines to his will—is that not a god?”

Xin Yu and Guo Yao were both stunned.

Xin Wan led them into the Banyan Forest and began to recount Ren Yuanyang’s extraordinary feats.

After a tour of the Banyan Forest, they arrived at Xin Wan’s wooden cabin. It had been expanded once, and the space inside was much larger.

Xin Wan took out some fruit, placed it on the table, and continued, “So, do you see any problem with me saying the Leader is a god?”

Xin Yu and Guo Yao were shocked beyond belief!

“This… how is this possible?” Xin Yu’s entire worldview was completely overturned.

“The facts are right in front of us. We have no choice but to believe,” Guo Yao said, shaking her head in amazement.

It took Xin Yu a long while to process everything and come to his senses.

“If he has this kind of ability, then our research will become much simpler,” Xin Yu spoke again. “We would only need to create a relatively crude machine, and the Leader could then modify it to a state of perfection!”

Guo Yao was startled for a moment, then said with pleasant surprise, “That’s right! In that case, shouldn’t we pick up our unfinished research?”

“But all the previous research data is with the Iron Wing Fleet. I doubt they’ll just hand it over to us!” Xin Yu frowned slightly.

“That shouldn’t be a problem!” Xin Wan said. “If we ask the Leader, and as long as we make a good enough offer, the Iron Wing Fleet will definitely agree to make a deal with us!”

“Then what are we waiting for? Let’s go find the Leader!” Xin Yu said impatiently.

Resigned, Xin Wan had no choice but to lead her parents back to Ren Yuanyang’s office.

“Is something the matter?” Ren Yuanyang asked curiously.

Xin Wan immediately explained, “My dad’s research with the Iron Wing Fleet had already shown some results. So he’s hoping the base can purchase the previous research data, allowing them to pick up where they left off. It would save a lot of time!”

Ren Yuanyang was taken aback for a moment, then immediately stood up and asked, “Was your previous research in the field of anti-gravity?”

“Yes, we were mainly researching gravitational waves…” Xin Yu immediately began to explain.

Even though he was already explaining his research in the simplest terms possible, Ren Yuanyang was still lost.

But he knew that if Xin Yu’s research led to a breakthrough, space travel would become incredibly simple, and they might even achieve interstellar travel!

“I understand. I’ll have the Dragon Base contact the Iron Wing Fleet right away,” Ren Yuanyang nodded slightly.

“Excellent, thank you, Leader!” Xin Yu replied excitedly.

“For now, the two of you should rest well for a couple of days. If there’s any news from the Dragon Base, I’ll let you know immediately,” Ren Yuanyang continued.

Xin Wan nodded and left with her parents.

Ren Yuanyang immediately contacted Ji Yizhi and explained the situation to him.

After hearing Ren Yuanyang out, Ji Yizhi said in a grave voice, “Then we absolutely must get our hands on that research data!”

“In any case, it’s faster than starting from scratch!” Ren Yuanyang replied.

“If that’s the case, couldn’t we also acquire advanced research data from other countries?” Ji Yizhi suggested, building on the idea.
