Global Flood: I Survive on Duckweed
Chapter 452 - 263: A Change of Mind, Migrating Again (2)
Chapter 452: Chapter 263: A Change of Mind, Migrating Again (2)
"Okay, I understand!" Hua Lingfang replied.
"Have Haonan help you pack," Ren Yuanyang instructed.
"Okay, I’ll find him!"
Just as Lu Jiamei and the others were preparing to move, the Dragon Base had already begun its own relocation.
"What’s going on? Didn’t we just move here about ten days ago? Why are we moving again?"
"Does our base have fuel to burn? Moving so many ships at once must consume a massive amount!"
"Didn’t we already defeat the Sea Eagle Country Fleet? There shouldn’t be any power that can threaten our base now. We can develop anywhere, so why do we have to move?"
Just as the survivors were wondering, the higher-ups issued a notice.
"To all members of the Dragon Base, good morning!"
"After half a month of construction, our base’s Duckweed Continent has begun to take shape. It is now large enough to accommodate all of our survivors!"
"We will be migrating to the Duckweed Continent, where everyone can live with their feet on solid ground!"
"All members are to follow orders and board the Duckweed Continent in an orderly fashion according to the assigned plan. Anyone who disobeys orders or disrupts the peace will be permanently exiled from the Duckweed Continent..."
Hearing this announcement, all the survivors in the Dragon Base were stunned!
It took them a long moment to process what they had heard.
"What did the announcement just say? Duckweed Continent? What is that?"
"I don’t know either, but based on the literal meaning of the announcement, it must be a continent! Our base created a continent?"
"No way! The water is so deep now, how could they possibly create a continent!"
"Could it be like that situation at the Peach Blossom Base that someone leaked before? A Banyan Forest plus evolved Duckweed!"
"That’s very likely. Our base has a great relationship with the Peach Blossom Base. They must have provided us with the banyan trees and Duckweed!"
"Then how big would this forest have to be? Our base already has 200,000 people! They’re not just going to stack us all up to live in the trees, are they?"
"Even if we have to live in the trees, as long as we can walk around freely in a forest, it’s still better than being stuck on a small boat all the time!"
"Makes sense!"
While everyone was discussing it, some busybody had already posted the announcement to the regional channel.
The other factions were, naturally, thrown into another round of shock and discussion. Meanwhile, Captain Viking of the Iron Wing Fleet paused for a moment before it dawned on him.
’This must be the surprise Captain Ji was talking about!’
He immediately contacted Ji Yizhi to confirm.
"It seems you’ve heard our base’s announcement!" Ji Yizhi said with a slight smile. "That’s right, the Duckweed Continent is the surprise I mentioned."
"Then can I come over and take a look now?" Viking requested a visit once more.
Ji Yizhi shook his head again. "Our base is in the middle of relocating right now, and things are too hectic. Please come over tonight. We should be done with the migration by then!"
But Viking’s curiosity was piqued, and he applied again, "In that case, can I at least observe from the perimeter of the Duckweed Continent?"
Ji Yizhi was slightly taken aback. He hadn’t expected Viking to be so eager. After a moment of thought, he replied, "You may. But your fleet cannot approach. You can come by speedboat, but maintain a distance of one hundred meters from the shore. I’ll let the patrol teams know, and they won’t drive you away."
"Thank you very much!" Viking replied excitedly. Then, a thought suddenly struck him, and he hurriedly asked, "Can I livestream your migration and the situation on the Duckweed Continent?"
"Of course. Since we haven’t forbidden you from livestreaming, it means you can," Ji Yizhi replied with a slight nod.
"Understood, thank you, Captain Ji!" Viking replied.
"I still have things to attend to. I’ll invite you to visit the Duckweed Continent once things have settled down," Ji Yizhi said, proactively ending the conversation.
"Please, carry on!" Viking had someone arrange for a speedboat. Following the coordinates Ji Yizhi had sent him, the boat sped off.
Along the way, they encountered several Dragon Base patrol boats, but after they identified themselves and gave the prearranged signal, the patrols left them alone.
After about twenty minutes, the driver suddenly shouted, "Captain, look! What is that!"
In the distance, a vast, endless forest stretched before them!
Viking and the few senior officers with him were all completely dumbfounded.
After a long moment, Viking finally said with emotion, "No wonder they call it the Duckweed Continent. An area this large can indeed be called a continent!"
"No wonder this area of the sea was so heavily guarded before. Our speedboats couldn’t get close at all. So the Dragon Base was working on such a massive project here!" an aide remarked with awe.
"But the construction speed is just too fast!"
"Their crops grow incredibly fast, so it’s only natural that their banyan trees would grow quickly too!" Viking replied, his face full of amazement.
Everyone nodded in agreement.
As the speedboat neared the Duckweed Continent, they could already see heavily armed guards standing at the edge of the Banyan Forest.
"It’s just like the Banyan Forest at Peach Blossom Base, as expected!" Viking said after careful observation.
Recently, many factions had visited the Peach Blossom Base, and there were numerous videos of its Banyan Forest on the world and regional channels.
Viking had also been to the Peach Blossom Base in person, so he was naturally quite familiar with it.
At this moment, all the survivors from the Dragon Base had arrived and were boarding the Duckweed Continent in an orderly fashion.
They were equally amazed at the sight of such a vast forest.
"Our base is so damn awesome! How did they create such a huge forest in such a short time?"
"To be precise, the Peach Blossom Base is the awesome one. They must have provided us with these banyan trees. I just wonder how many we planted!"
"Judging by the current size, it must be at least a hundred trees. Otherwise, it’d be impossible to cover such a large area in such a short time!"
"Exactly!"
After boarding the Duckweed Continent, the survivors looked around the forest in wide-eyed wonder, like Granny Liu stepping into the Grand View Garden for the first time.
They’d never had the chance to visit the Peach Blossom Base, so they were naturally very curious now that they were finally seeing the same kind of banyan trees and Duckweed!
Seeing the discussions from other factions on the regional channel, Ren Yuanyang naturally knew that the Dragon Base survivors had arrived on the Duckweed Continent.
However, his current location was still very quiet. Wang Jun and the others had been right; the place was indeed secluded, with no need to worry about outside disturbances.
So, he returned to his room on the fifth floor and resumed his Cultivation.
Thanks to excellent early-stage planning, the entire migration was completed in just eight hours. Everyone was given their own small wooden cabin on the Duckweed Continent.
Anyone who wanted to upgrade and build better defenses would have to earn their own money and construct better houses in the designated planning zones.
However, the survivors were already more than satisfied. After being stuck on their own small, constantly rocking boats, they now had their own little cabins. They weren’t large, but they were stable!
"I only ever saw it in videos before, so it didn’t really sink in! I was worried walking on the Duckweed would feel shaky, but I never expected it to be this solid!"
"Yeah, it really lives up to the name Duckweed Continent. There’s no difference between this and real land!"
"Dragon Base is awesome! Peach Blossom Base is awesome! I’m so glad I was born a Dragon Country person, or else how could I enjoy this kind of treatment!"
For a moment, the hearts of all the Dragon Country survivors swelled with pride!
After the migration was complete, the various departments got busy.
Ji Yizhi also sent an invitation to Viking.
"Captain Viking, my apologies for the wait. Are you still near the Duckweed Continent?"
Seeing Ji Yizhi’s message, Viking immediately replied, "We’re still here!"
"Excellent. Park your speedboat at the outer harbor and take our boat in," Ji Yizhi continued.
"Understood!"
Soon, a speedboat from the Dragon Base sped over.
"Excuse me, are you the visitors from the Iron Wing Fleet?"
Viking immediately identified himself, "Yes, I am Captain Viking of the Iron Wing Fleet."
"Understood, please follow me!" The speedboat led Viking and his group to a harbor.
After parking their speedboat, Viking boarded the Dragon Base’s boat.
The speedboat traveled quickly inward, following a river channel through the Banyan Forest.
About ten minutes later, the speedboat came to a stop.
Viking mentally estimated that it was about ten kilometers from the perimeter to their current location.
’This must be the center of the Banyan Forest. That’s why the three captains’ offices are located here!’
’By that calculation, the entire Banyan Forest is a circle with a radius of roughly ten kilometers. That’s enormous!’ Viking marveled internally.
