Chapter 454: Chapter 264: Leasing Rules, A Hubbub of Voices (Part 2)
Wei Jing was momentarily stunned, then asked curiously, "Are you saying this meat is also provided by Peach Blossom Base?"
Ji Yizhi nodded slightly. "Yes. Otherwise, even our base wouldn’t have access to this kind of meat."
Wei Jing asked tentatively, "Could it be that Peach Blossom Base also has technology to accelerate animal growth?"
Ji Yizhi gave a mysterious smile and changed the subject. "Captain Viking, let’s eat before the food gets cold!"
Wei Jing was taken aback for a moment, then nodded. He ate while lost in thought.
During the meal, Ji Yizhi also brought out bamboo wine to treat them, which drew constant praise from Captain Viking and his men.
The high-proof bamboo wine was perfectly suited to their tastes!
The banquet was a great success, with both hosts and guests thoroughly enjoying themselves.
Afterward, Wei Jing immediately said, "Can we dock our fleet in your harbor? We guarantee we won’t bring any weapons! We’ll leave our armaments on a separate ship and maintain a safe distance from Duckweed Continent!"
Ji Yizhi smiled and said, "So eager?"
"Of course. If possible, I want to lease land on Duckweed Continent right now," Wei Jing said, nodding seriously.
"Hmm, if your fleet is going to dock in our harbor, we will need to station supervisors aboard your ships. Is that acceptable to you?" Ji Yizhi asked in return.
After all, the weapons on some ships are not easily removed, so someone needs to be there to ensure they won’t be activated.
Even though the banyan tree has been enhanced, it is still just a tree. It would definitely be damaged if bombarded by cannon shells.
"We accept. We completely accept!" Wei Jing replied decisively.
This time, the others who had come with him finally voiced no objections.
They had eaten and drunk their fill at the banquet, experienced the prosperity of Dragon Base, and fallen in love with the food and wine. If they could lease a plot of land here, they could enjoy these delicacies and drinks whenever they wanted. Why would they object?
Ji Yizhi nodded slightly and arranged for a team to accompany Wei Jing back to the Iron Wing Fleet.
After making some arrangements, they sailed toward Duckweed Continent under the watch of the supervisors.
At this time, numerous fleets were watching from the waters around Dragon Base. Seeing the Iron Wing Fleet sail directly into Dragon Base’s harbor, they were all rather puzzled and immediately began discussing it in the regional channel.
"That fleet just now doesn’t seem to belong to Dragon Base, does it?"
"Definitely not. Judging by the emblem, it must be the Iron Wing Fleet!"
"Why is the Iron Wing Fleet allowed to dock in Dragon Base’s harbor?"
"They must have reached some kind of agreement!"
Just then, Wei Jing responded directly in the regional channel: "The Iron Wing Fleet has decided to lease a plot of land on Duckweed Continent to use as a rest and recuperation camp. As long as you disarm, follow Dragon Base’s rules, and submit to their management, you can dock here too!"
The other fleets were stunned when they saw Wei Jing’s message.
"No way, Duckweed Continent is being leased out? Should we lease a plot too?"
"All I’m saying is, choose carefully! Going onto Duckweed Continent without weapons, having to follow their rules, submitting to their management... you completely lose your autonomy!"
"I’d trade my autonomy for a safe and stable life!"
"I just wonder how expensive the rent is. Can we even afford it?"
"Since Dragon Base is leasing it out, the rent can’t be too expensive. Otherwise, they’d never find any takers!"
"@Wang Jun, @Ji Yizhi, can the two captains come out and explain the leasing situation?"
Seeing someone tag him, Ji Yizhi immediately responded: "The leasing is currently in a trial phase and is not yet fully open to everyone. We will gradually open it up after this pilot program with the Iron Wing Fleet is complete. Please be patient! There are some basic leasing requirements, which I can post now for you to see. If you can’t even agree to these basic terms, then there’s no need to consider leasing."
After sending that message, he posted the established rules and requirements.
Some fleets backed down immediately upon seeing the rules. They were not comfortable entrusting their fates to someone else’s control!
Of course, some fleets didn’t care at all.
"Our fleet is dirt poor. Finding work on Duckweed Continent would at least give us a way to make a living!"
"Exactly! I think the requirements are perfectly normal. You can’t expect to use someone else’s land and not follow their rules!"
"You don’t have to worry about security at Dragon Base. If a situation arises that even Dragon Base can’t handle, no other fleet would stand a chance!"
Amidst the chatter, the Iron Wing Fleet finished docking in Dragon Base’s harbor.
"Everyone can disembark and look around the harbor area, but do not go deep into the base. I’ll say this again: you absolutely cannot carry weapons! And you absolutely must not cause trouble! Understand?" Wei Jing stressed repeatedly.
"Yes, sir!" the fleet members replied in unison.
Meanwhile, Dragon Base had already introduced policies to encourage business, offering certain reductions on rent for market stalls and taxes near the harbor.
The more enterprising survivors were already starting to make their moves.
When Lu Jiamei and the others arrived from Peach Blossom Base, they were surprised to see Dragon Base’s harbor so bustling.
"Dragon Base really has a lot more people!" Lu Jiamei exclaimed.
"It definitely has more life to it than Peach Blossom Base," Qin Haonan commented.
"We should hurry to the leader’s side. It’s getting late, and he might not have eaten yet!" Xin Wan urged.
Lu Jiamei nodded slightly. They sped their motorboat into the Banyan Forest, getting green lights all the way.
Following the location Ren Yuanyang had shared, Lu Jiamei and her group soon arrived in front of a five-story building.
"Whoa, holy crap! This building is magnificent!" Qin Haonan exclaimed instantly.
Around them, many construction workers were still putting up other houses. Just by looking at the frames, it was clear the houses they were building were much larger than the ones at Peach Blossom Base!
"The distance between the trees here is much greater than at our place. More space means bigger houses," Hua Lingfang explained.
"If I’d known, I would’ve argued for leaving more space back home!" Qin Haonan said with a laugh, looking at the large houses.
Lu Jiamei rolled her eyes and retorted, "It’s not that simple. Our place is in the Seventh-level Wind Sea Region, and this is the Second-level Wind Sea Region. How could they be the same?"
Qin Haonan immediately slapped his forehead. "Look at my memory! How could I have forgotten that? I think the leader also said the banyan branches here are stronger than at Peach Blossom Base, so the wider spacing doesn’t affect the overall structural integrity!"
Chatting amongst themselves, the group walked into the five-story building.
After opening the door, they were stunned by the room’s interior design!
"No wonder the leader said the living conditions here are good! Big rooms, nice decor... if it were me, I’d choose to be here too!" Qin Haonan flopped directly onto the sofa. "So comfortable! The leader sure knows how to live!"
"I don’t know how to live nearly as well as you do," Ren Yuanyang said as he came down from upstairs.
"Leader, have you had dinner?" Xin Wan immediately stepped forward to ask.
Ren Yuanyang shook his head slightly, holding up a meal container in his hand. "I just finished my Cultivation. I was about to heat up the dinner Wang Jun and the others sent over."
"Let me do it. We brought some food with us, too!" Xin Wan immediately took it from him.
"Have you all eaten?" Ren Yuanyang asked with a smile as he handed the container to Xin Wan.
"Everyone was busy packing, so we haven’t had a chance to eat yet," Lu Jiamei replied.
"Perfect. Let’s eat together," Ren Yuanyang said with a nod.
"Leader, you heard what Sister Mei said, right? I’m not just lazing around. I was packing all afternoon, so I’ve earned a little rest!" Qin Haonan said, still lying on the sofa without getting up.
Ren Yuanyang replied with a laugh, "In that case, should I give you a shoulder massage?"
"Heh heh, no need for that!" Qin Haonan replied instantly. "But seriously, the conditions here are amazing. Can I live here from now on?"
"There are five floors and seven suites in total. Pick one for yourself. The same goes for everyone else—you can also choose to live in the rooms being built nearby," Ren Yuanyang continued. "I had Wang Jun build housing for fifty people, which is more than enough for all of us."
Everyone nodded.
"Oh, by the way, I’ve already claimed the top floor of this building, so don’t pick that one," Ren Yuanyang added as a final reminder.
Lu Jiamei immediately said, "Xin Wan and I will take two rooms on the fourth floor."
"Looks like I’m stuck with the third floor then!" Qin Haonan said with a laugh.
Hua Lingfang said with a smile, "Hua Wen and I will take the second floor. We’re old and can’t climb so many stairs!"
Just as they were dividing up the rooms, a sudden scream came from outside.
Qin Haonan frowned and walked to the door, muttering, "What the hell are those people doing out there?"
The moment he opened the door, a construction worker with a face covered in blood stood outside, a look of terror on his face!
