Dale widened his eyes, stunned and in awe of Linda’s strength: "This must be at the level of a Great Mage, but I haven’t heard that she has already become one..."

Within the explosion range of the fireball, the demonic army suffered heavy casualties, with hardly anyone left standing, and the white flames kept spreading, difficult to extinguish, even a tiny touch would burn to the core.

Linda’s hands slightly trembled, realizing that the magic she released disregarded the Demon’s magic resistance and could easily destroy their bodies, "Is this the limitation of a mage?"

Under Linda’s attack, there was also a temporary chaos on the side of the demonic army, and the members of the Mage Legion turned to look over.

The casualties Linda alone caused already almost equaled their entire Army of Mage.

Everyone wanted to know how Linda managed to do it, could it be the help of a Divine Spirit?

......

Yeluo lay on the ground, continually screaming, with blood slowly draining from his body. Just when he thought he was about to die, a hand lifted him up.

"Where is Count Mel?" Su Changxing questioned.

Only then did he realize that Yeluo’s spirit was slightly distorted, causing changes in some perceptions.

This kind of distortion was minor and hard to detect; if Yeluo weren’t in a state of mental disorder, it might not have manifested.

Yeluo then looked behind Su Changxing and discovered the sound of the engine’s rotation had unknowingly vanished: "Where is that thing?"

"Successfully exorcised." Su Changxing smiled slightly.

Yeluo showed a look of disbelief; they had lured more than ten mages here on different occasions, yet none survived against that thing.

They weren’t sure what that thing was, possibly a demon or something else.

"I was acting under our boss’s orders, I had no choice!" Yeluo said fearfully, "Our boss reached some sort of understanding with that thing, which is why we had to lure mages here for it to consume."

In this world, many so-called mages are actually external players possessing extraordinary abilities, thus being termed as mages. Their strength often isn’t as formidable as imagined, perhaps unable to beat a team of guards, but the mysterious aura brought by their unconventional abilities is awe-inspiring.

Su Changxing inquired again: "So where is your boss?"

Knowing that the thing had been exorcised by Su Changxing, Yeluo calmed down a bit, realizing that despite Su Chang and Su Changxing’s fearsome reputation, they were still human, "Our boss has been in the mansion all this time, hasn’t come out."

Su Changxing patted his shoulder, the pierced wound healing visibly: "Take me to him, I want to have a talk."

Yeluo got up without hesitation: "No problem."

He figured, since that thing was already exorcised, there should be nothing left to worry about. The remaining matter was negotiating the reward, which might end up being higher than initially agreed.

But for Count Mel, who owned half a city, these were minor details.

Count Mel’s mansion was far from the bustling city center, occupying a large area, and guards could be spotted patrolling the streets from a distance.

Led by Yeluo, they entered without obstruction, reaching Count Mel’s residence, which didn’t appear particularly luxurious; just a standard mansion with three floors, quite simplistic for a Great Noble.

"We wish to see Count Mel," Yeluo told the butler at the door.

The butler, wearing glasses and white gloves, carefully examined Su Changxing and his companion, then said:

"Wait here, I’ll inform him."

"No need, I’ll go up myself," Su Changxing moved forward, pushing open the main door which revealed an interior much more lavish than its outward appearance.

With wine-red carpet, walls adorned with various artworks, paintings, longswords, deer heads, and a half-body statue protruding from the wall, looking very out of place.

"You can’t go in! This is the Earl’s Mansion!" The butler tried to intercept but was immobilized by a flash of white light.

Yeluo stepped forward, apologetically saying: "Maurice Housekeeper, sorry!"

He raised his hand to the back of the butler’s head, precisely knocking him unconscious, then followed Su Changxing, saying: "The Count is on the second floor, every time I’ve seen him lately, he’s been there, but I haven’t seen him in person."

Su Chang nodded, asking: "How do you communicate then?"

Yeluo continued: "Through a door."

"You haven’t met him in a long time?"

"Yes."

Yeluo also realized something was amiss, as if suddenly coming to his senses, Count Mel seemed less like someone who reached an understanding with that thing and more like someone being controlled!

The carpet throughout was clean and tidy, until reaching the second floor, where there was purple powder resembling ground crystals, emitting dim light and giving the room a somber atmosphere.

[Purple Powder: Energy metabolite of Demon Flesh, containing mixed high concentration energy, can be used as a substitute for whale oil as an energy source.]

"This thing..."

Su Changxing pushed open the Count’s room door, finding no one inside, but there was another room within, illuminated by four oil lamps.

These oil lamps are quite uncommon in this day and age, especially for a Great Noble, who have no need to use this lighting method.
