Chapter 100: Chapter 81: Passionate Arena May
[This month is Hero Arena Month.]
[New arena building blueprints of various qualities have been added to the Points Store.]
[All lords may purchase and construct arenas in their own territories.]
[Once an arena is constructed, heroes within the territory can battle one another inside it.]
[Once an arena is constructed, heroes within the territory can use it to enter the "Cosmic Arena."]
[The "Cosmic Arena" features various competitive modes.]
[Victories in the "Cosmic Arena" will yield generous experience and rewards.]
[Let the excitement begin! Let’s see who the true top-tier heroes are!]
Shortly after the system announcement, Lin Yu redeemed an arena blueprint from the Points Store: the Peak Arena.
[Name]: Peak Arena
[Category]: Special Universal Building
[Tier]: Legendary (Purple)
[Description]: A once-magnificent arena, a symbol of a prosperous ancient kingdom.
[Effects]: Boosts the territory’s martial spirit and increases citizen morale. Victors will gain territory-wide prestige.
Citizens have a chance to specialize as Gladiators. Achieving a 30-win streak in the arena promotes them to Heroic Gladiators. A 100-win streak promotes them to Champion Gladiators, granting them the "Champion Gladiator" title.
Competitors are scheduled by the arena itself; outsiders cannot interfere with the matchmaking.
There is a chance for unaffiliated gladiator heroes to appear. If defeated, they can be recruited.
[Special Effect]: Unlocks the Cosmic Arena function. The arena contains a built-in Teleportation Gate that leads to the lord’s exclusive instance, where their heroes can participate in the Cosmic Arena’s Novice Friendly Matches.
[Recruitable]: Champion Gladiator (Purple) x100
Besides the Legendary-Tier "Peak Arena," the Points Store also offered a Common-Tier "Warrior Arena," a Fine-Tier "Glory Colosseum," and a Superior-Tier "Heroic Arena."
The differences between these arenas were as follows:
First, the tier of the recruitable soldiers differed. They corresponded to the arena’s tier: "Slave Gladiators" (White), "Gladiators" (Green), "Heroic Gladiators" (Blue), and "Champion Gladiators" (Purple).
Second, the territory-wide bonuses were different. The boost to citizen morale and martial spirit varied by arena tier—the higher the tier, the stronger the effect.
Third, higher-tier arenas increased the probability of citizens specializing as Gladiators and strengthened their desire to do so.
Fourth, higher-tier arenas reduced the number of wins required for a Gladiator’s promotion.
Fifth, higher-tier arenas had a greater chance of spawning unaffiliated gladiator heroes.
Sixth, higher-tier arenas allowed more heroes to enter the Cosmic Arena’s Novice Friendly Matches simultaneously. The hero capacity for each tier was: 1 (White), 10 (Green), 40 (Blue), and 100 (Purple).
Based on these differences, the extravagant Lin Yu, flush with points, unhesitatingly spent Ten Thousand Points to redeem the highest-tier arena blueprint from the Points Store.
He then sent the blueprint to the Government Affairs Center via the Territory Core.
"Chenxi, this arena is a top priority. I need it built with all possible speed. I’m counting on you."
"My Lord, you can count on us!"
In the Prime Minister’s office at the Government Affairs Center, Lin Chenxi received Lin Yu’s message and immediately ordered the City Planning Bureau to organize the construction.
That night, all the territory’s heroes and nearby citizens gathered at the construction site for the Peak Arena.
The Peak Arena was located in the western part of the territory, relatively close to the Jade Sanctuary, and was being built beside a residential area just outside the central district of the Territory Core.
The site was near the territory’s largest mixed-species settlement (with a layout similar to Zootopia), which was predominantly inhabited by martial races.
As a crowd of onlookers watched, the roots of the World Tree worked in coordination with the staff from the City Planning Bureau to construct the arena.
These days, with the advancement of the Druid class in the territory and the widespread adoption of the Sun and Moon Breathing Technique, most of the City Planning Bureau’s staff had mastered a rudimentary control over matter. This allowed them to assist the World Tree by transporting construction materials, measuring them out, and assembling structures according to the blueprint.
This assistance reduced the required construction time by roughly 10%. Moreover, as more people joined in, the time savings increased, though with diminishing returns.
As construction steadily advanced, the roots of the World Tree began to harden, forming the arena’s final pillar.
The Peak Arena was complete!
Amidst the crowd’s cheers, Lin Yu was the first to enter, taking his seat in the arena’s VIP box.
The citizens also filed into the arena, filling the spectator stands that encircled the fighting pit.
As the territory’s resources grew more abundant, its citizens began to seek cultural and spiritual enrichment. They were no longer in the initial phase of development, where simply having enough food and drink was sufficient.
The arrival of the Peak Arena perfectly met this growing need.
To celebrate the successful completion of the Peak Arena, Lin Yu had arranged a special match for that day.
The headliner was one of the territory’s own Legendary-Tier heroes: Yuan Xiaobo.
That evening, within the Peak Arena, he would face challenges from 100 of the territory’s other heroes.
"And now, let’s welcome tonight’s star, the Legendary-Tier Monkey Demon—Yuan Xiaobo!!!"
Once the arena was filled with spectators, Lin Chenxi, acting as the emcee, stood on the announcer’s platform and officially kicked off the day’s competition.
"HOO-AHH—"
"Brothers of the Monkey Race, let’s get wild—"
...
Yuan Xiaobo emerged from the gladiator’s tunnel and stepped onto the arena floor.
As a Monkey Demon, he stood just 1.5 meters tall, clad in a sleek suit of Metal Full Body Armor and holding an Alloy Long Rod.
