Chapter 135 - 104: Ice Age
Chapter 135: Chapter 104: Ice Age
The June Legion War ended just like that.
In the end, Lin Yu failed to take first place, though that was partly because he hadn’t gone all out.
Ultimately, Lin Yu received four opportunities to upgrade the rank of a designated unit type (up to Legendary). (For comparison, the first-place winner, Yun Qihao, received five.)
Lin Yu only used one to upgrade the Corruption Spreaders to the Legendary rank. As for the Champion Gladiators, their abilities were geared more toward one-on-one duels and weren’t very useful in large-scale battles. And when it came to duels on Lin Yu’s territory, his heroes were a better fit anyway.
Lin Yu saved the remaining three opportunities, planning to use them later on more suitable units.
Upon reaching the Legendary rank, the Corruption Spreader gained a new skill: Aberration.
[Aberration]: Corruption causes the flesh of living beings to mutate. Due to the effect of "Ruin," this will most likely produce harmful mutations, damaging their attributes and hastening their body’s breakdown.
Because the Corruption Spreader is the exclusive unit of the Wall of Decay, upgrading the Corruption Spreader to the Legendary rank also upgraded the Wall of Decay to the Legendary rank.
Naturally, its special effect was enhanced as well. It originally caused enemies to lose 1% of their maximum health per minute; now it caused them to lose 1.5%. (A slight improvement.)
In addition to the competition rewards, Lin Yu also redeemed a batch of about five or six Skill Evolution Stones. He placed them in the Merit Warehouse for the members of his territory to redeem themselves.
(Note: There is a limit to using Skill Evolution Stones. Each use lowers the success rate of the next one by 20%, with a maximum of five successful uses possible.)
He also redeemed a special item: a Building Skill Evolution Scroll. It could enhance a building’s abilities, but the cost was steep—one Scroll was worth ten Skill Evolution Stones.
After obtaining the Scroll, Lin Yu used it on Dave’s Secret Garden. This building, which had been with him since the very beginning of his territory, was upgraded and gained a new ability.
[Plant Cultivation]: Place a plant species not currently found in Dave’s Secret Garden into the cultivation room. After a period of cultivation, that species will be converted into a defensive plant for the territory.
A new cultivation room also appeared in the garden.
Furthermore, the treasure chest for his second-place ranking yielded a Legendary-grade, lightning-attribute Elemental Core. He casually set it into the Five Elements Core, filling its final empty slot. This added lightning-attribute energy to the territory and gave naturally born denizens a chance to awaken lightning-attribute talents.

July and August, the second phase of the Lord Tournament, were the "Months of Tranquility." The organizers scheduled no official events, only placing some treasure chests in monster encampments throughout the wilderness.
All the lords spent these two months quietly developing their lands and building up their armies.
Lin Yu’s territory also made the most of these two months to advance its development.
While other lords focused on hunting monsters, opening chests, and finding building blueprints, Lin Yu’s primary mission was to study the ways of the Druid in the Jade Sanctuary and practice his Magic in the arena. He left the task of finding treasure chests in the wild to his army, since they needed to level up anyway and could search for chests as they went.
Every evening, he would spend an hour or two reviewing his territory’s progress: the research speed of the Technology Tree, and any new projects that might have appeared outside of it; the state of his army’s training, and whether any new heroes had emerged; and performing regional planning on the territory map, designating new industrial, residential, and resource zones, or adjusting existing ones...
The next day, these revised or new plans would arrive at the Government Affairs Center and the military center, landing on the desks of Meiying and Lin Chenxi. They would then delegate the tasks according to the specific circumstances.
One evening, as Lin Yu was attending to his duties in the Lord’s Mansion, a sudden jolt ran through him as a special message arrived from the World Tree.
The "World Vein Branches," after a period of growth, had successfully located a small world in the void and managed to bore into it.
’What an unexpected surprise!’
Lin Yu was thrilled. When the branch had first matured at the end of June, he had been excitedly preparing to go have some fun in the Otherworld. He never expected that upon maturing, the "World Vein Branches" had only gained the ability to enter the void and search for worlds. To actually connect to another world, it first had to find one in the void and then bore its way inside.
He had assumed the process would take a very long time, but to his surprise, the branch had found a target and burrowed into it before July was even half over.
Lin Yu went to the World Tree Crown. There, amidst the countless branches, one thick bough stood out as particularly special.
This was the "World Vein Branches," which had been activated ahead of schedule via a special trait. Its color was slightly different from the surrounding branches—an icy blue, with the faint shimmer of ice crystals, making it look a bit like a frozen-over bough.
The long bough stretched up toward the sky, then abruptly vanished in midair, as if its top half had been sawed off.
Of course, it hadn’t been sawed off. It had pierced through space itself, reaching into the void. This was the path to the connected Otherworld.
With a thought from Lin Yu, a figure appeared beside him.
"Woohoo! I can finally say goodbye to studying and start adventuring!!!" The person who appeared was Lin Kong.
