Chapter 315: Chapter 7: Go Save Li Hua?

Suddenly, her Spiritual Sense flared. She shot out of the hidden mine tunnel and bolted toward the passage at the other end.

As she ran, her figure gradually turned transparent, finally vanishing into thin air.

"Haha, I can smell you again~" A strange, awkward-sounding voice came from behind Li Xintong. Though it spoke the language of the Human Race, one could tell instantly that the speaker was not native.

Hearing this voice, Li Xintong ran even faster.

Sure enough, the sound of rapid pursuit echoed behind her. Li Xintong abruptly stopped, no longer fleeing. She quickly pulled out a spray bottle, spritzed herself a few times, and eliminated her scent.

Then she sprinted back the way she came. A dozen or so seconds later, a red Lizard-man rushed toward her, dashing right past.

Watching the retreating figure, a flicker of contempt crossed Li Xintong’s eyes. ’This stupid Lizard-man never learns. How many times has he fallen for this trick?’ She then resumed her light-footed run forward.

Just as she was about to exit the mine tunnel, a large net dropped from above, trapping her within.

She was then hoisted into the air, left dangling from the ceiling of the tunnel.

A black Lizard-man stepped out from the shadows.

"Hahaha, you little human girl! Serves you right for tricking me. Now, aren’t you going to surrender obediently?" The red Lizard-man who had first run into the passage walked out, laughing heartily.

"Why? How did you see me?" Li Xintong struggled relentlessly, trying to tear the large net while demanding an answer. "I was invisible! How could you have seen me?"

"Hahaha!!!" Hearing Li Xintong’s question, the red Lizard-man laughed even louder, even clutching his stomach and rolling on the ground.

"Because we could see you! It was hilarious watching you hop around us, thinking you were invisible. You looked like a flailing mantis!!"

"Impossible. Before, you clearly..." Li Xintong started to argue, but then it dawned on her. She looked at the black Lizard-man who hadn’t been there before. All the previous pursuits had been conducted by red Lizard-men; she had never seen a black one. ’It must be his ability.’

Indeed, the black Lizard-man was grinning silently, occasionally covering his mouth as if struggling to hold back his laughter. When he saw Li Xintong looking at him, he finally let go and burst into a triumphant roar of laughter.

"Sorry, but my thermal vision can see you just fine."

Dangling from the ceiling, Li Xintong’s face flushed red with humiliation, and she began to struggle even more fiercely.

However, the net was made of some unknown material. No matter what she did, she couldn’t even tear a small opening in it.

"Stop struggling. It’s useless. This net is made from an Extraordinary material. An ordinary person like you could never break it! Oh, wait, you’re not an ordinary little girl. You’re an ordinary little girl who can turn invisible. But that doesn’t make much of a difference."

The red Lizard-man lowered the net. The two Lizard-men moved forward, bound Li Xintong, and carried her away.

"Finally caught you. Now your brother will surely give in and stop resisting."

"Put me down! If you dare use me to threaten my brother, I’ll bite my tongue and kill myself!!"

"Oh, right! Almost forgot." The red Lizard-man feigned a look of sudden realization. He put Li Xintong down on the ground and started patting himself down.

He ended up taking off his shoe and pulling off a sock.

"What are you doing?" Li Xintong’s face turned pale as certain images flashed through her mind.

"Heh heh, what do you think, little wench?"

"Y-You, you, you stay away!!!"

"AH—MPH—MMMMH!!!" As Li Xintong struggled with all her might, the red Lizard-man took two quick steps and shoved the sock he’d removed into her mouth, gagging her completely.

The sock stuffed in her mouth emitted a pungent, sour stench. When her tongue inadvertently touched it, the stimulus was so overwhelming that Li Xintong’s eyes rolled back in their sockets, and tears welled up at their corners.

The red Lizard-man watched Li Xintong’s broken expression with satisfaction. Extremely pleased, he and the black Lizard-man lifted her and headed deeper into the mine.

Unbeknownst to the two Lizard-men, the bracelet on Li Xintong’s wrist was sending out a signal every ten minutes.

Shortly after another signal was sent, a loud RUMBLE echoed from above the mine tunnel.

The two Lizard-men immediately looked up warily toward the source of the sound.

Above them, dust billowed and rock fragments flew. With the CLATTER of falling stones, a hole the size of a person appeared before them. Even Li Xintong’s vacant eyes turned toward the opening.

A vine snaked out from the hole in the dust cloud, rapidly spreading across the ground and encircling everything—the two Lizard-men and Li Xintong included.

"Not good! It’s a mutated plant! Run!"

The Lizard-men’s faces changed. For some unknown reason, the Black Salt Mine was home to many mutated plants and animals, all of them Extraordinary-level. Any ordinary person who encountered them and failed to escape would be attacked and torn to pieces.

Weighed down by their burden, Li Xintong, the two Lizard-men couldn’t escape in time. By the time they noticed the vines on the ground, it was already too late.

"Tut, tut. If you talk about it like that, you’ll hurt its feelings."

Just then, a voice drifted down from the hole. The vine bent itself into the shape of a staircase, and a handsome human man descended, stepping on the vine-stairs.

"Who are you?" Seeing his entrance, the two Lizard-men knew he was bad news and watched him with caution.

"Hey, no need to be so tense! I’m just a passerby. I’m looking for my friend. Do any of you three know Li Hua?"

The two Lizard-men exchanged glances. ’How would two Lizard-men like us know a human?’

"Mmph! Mmph! Mmmph!" A series of muffled, unintelligible sounds emerged. Lin Yu looked over and saw the little girl tangled in the net, struggling and making noise, trying to get his attention.

"You know Li Hua?"

"Impossible, impossible! How could she possibly know the friend of a great figure like yourself? She must be lying to you."

The red Lizard-man hurriedly stepped forward, trying to laugh it off, and signaled the black Lizard-man to restrain Li Xintong and keep her from moving.

But Li Xintong struggled even harder. She nodded repeatedly, indicating that she did know Li Hua.

Just then, another new signal was sent from her bracelet.

Lin Yu glanced at the information projected onto his retina, compared the coordinates, and confirmed it. These three were the ones he was looking for.

Since the two Lizard-men didn’t know Li Hua, that only left the captured girl.

Lin Yu channeled the Spiritual Energy in his body into the vine beneath his feet. Silently, the vine began to move.

It slowly approached the two Lizard-men, then, with lightning speed, it wrapped them up completely.

The brawny Lizard-men immediately began to struggle, but their immense strength was useless against the seemingly soft and weak vines.

Ignoring the two Lizard-men struggling in the vine’s grasp, Lin Yu walked over to Li Xintong. He untied her bonds and pulled out the sock gagging her. As soon as the rag-like sock was out, Lin Yu’s expression changed. He gave it a light sniff, threw it away in disgust, summoned a ball of clean water, and immediately washed his hands.

"What is your relationship to Li Hua? How do you have his bracelet?" While freeing Li Xintong, Lin Yu had noticed the bracelet on her wrist.

"What’s your name? I need to confirm you’re my brother’s friend!" Li Xintong remained wary. Even though Lin Yu had just saved her, she still needed to be sure.

"Heh, you’re pretty cautious. My name is Lin Yu. Has your brother mentioned me?"

"Isn’t that how it always goes on TV? The bad guy pretends to be a good guy to rescue the hero, just to get the hero to lead him to the treasure."

"Hmm... I think your name was on the list my brother gave me. And you look okay... pretty handsome, actually. You must be one of my brother’s friends." Li Xintong stroked her chin as she sized up Lin Yu. The motion reminded her of that disgusting sock, and her expression changed. She rushed over to the red Lizard-man and started kicking and punching him.

The red Lizard-man, bound tightly by the vines, couldn’t fight back and could only endure the humiliating beating.

After letting out her frustration, Li Xintong finally remembered the most important thing.

"Brother Lin, you have to save my brother! To save me, he lured a large group of powerful Lizard-men deeper into the mine!"
