Chapter 397: Chapter 15: The Chaotic Titans

"@Al, how’s your territory? Why aren’t you responding?"

"Kelly, stop calling for him. That kid is probably just messing with us again. A few days ago, he cried ’alien invasion’ several times, but when we went to check, it turned out the little bastard just wanted us to scout an alien territory for him..."

"Besides, with defenses as strong as black iron, no one could conquer his territory this quickly."

"Forget him. Those fucking plebs are attacking my territory again. Can anyone help?"

"I can’t make it. Ask Bo’er. I’m under attack too."

"These damned plebs! Don’t they know we need to be united at a time like this?"

"Heh heh heh, united? And then what? Let you find our real bodies and send people to arrest us back on our home planet?"

"Fuck, weren’t those morons already eliminated by you guys? There are barely any extremists left among us nobles who are still here."

"Hey! Even if you didn’t personally hunt down us commoners, you still took a share of the resources and points from those who were captured, didn’t you?"

"Stop pretending you’re innocent! As far as I know, not a single noble stepped up to help us!!"

"If you won’t let us live in peace, then you can forget about it too!"

"Plebeian! Spreading lies to deceive everyone! Don’t let me find out where your territory is!"

...

Although the chat channel was filled with little more than gossip, offering no real information on the Titan Race’s true strength or technological level, Lin Yu was still able to piece together the basics from these snippets of conversation and get a general sense of the situation among the participating lords.

...

A few days later, the captured Titan Race lord was escorted back to the territory, and Lin Yu met with him in person.

"Al, can you tell me about the situation with your Titan Race?"

"You... how do you know my name?"

"Heh, I also know that you’re one of the nobles among your Titan Race people!"

"You know that too?"

"I know a lot about you. I’m just asking to verify a few things."

"So, are you going to talk or not? If you cooperate, I might even give you a chance to pledge allegiance to my territory."

Using the information he had gathered from the chat channel, Lin Yu had gone into full bluff mode the moment he met Al, successfully intimidating him.

"Could it be... you’ve conquered other territories?"

"You were all so busy with your civil war. How could you possibly know how many lords I’ve secretly eliminated!"

"Speak! The last one who talked was one of your Civilian Lords. Now I want to hear something different. Let’s see if your stories match up."

"If I like what I hear, I might even let you go back, as if nothing happened. You can even continue being a lord."

"You... you..."

Al’s mind raced, processing Lin Yu’s words.

The Titan Clan People believed they were invincible under three times normal gravity and had no fear of enemies attacking them at their doorstep.

Thus, they paid no attention to the other races in this stage of the competition. Their plan was to quell their internal strife and then sweep through all the other races.

’He never expected there to be an unconventional lord like Lin Yu, whose large force of heroes was completely unafraid of the triple gravity. They had charged right in and attacked. Who knows how many lords he’s secretly eliminated?’

The thought of losing his territory and being captured made Al extremely depressed. Even if he managed to survive, returning to his home planet would mean losing all his rights and privileges. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

On the way here as a prisoner, he had witnessed the power of this territory. This alien lord was exceedingly strong.

’If I pledge allegiance to this alien lord and get my territory back with his support, I can protect my status. I might even be able to climb higher.’

As for things like racial integrity, he couldn’t care less.

In the history of the Titan Race, nobles had always pledged themselves to powerful sovereigns to ensure their own status and the continuation of their families.

Now, it was just a matter of switching to an alien sovereign. As long as his own interests weren’t harmed, there was nothing he wouldn’t do.

"Alright, I’ll talk! I’ll tell you everything!"

"Our Titan Race..."

-----------------

Just as the Goddess had said, this was the Titan Race’s first time participating in the Lord Competition.

The lords competing alongside Lin Yu and the others were their very first batch of lords.

As for why they were chosen for the competition, they weren’t entirely sure. They guessed it had something to do with the Titan Clan People having broken free of their planet’s confines and entered space.

Lin Yu had to admit, he was rather impressed that they could reach space from a habitable planet with three times normal gravity.

However, some problems arose for the Titan Race after they were selected for the Lord Competition.

Since it was their first call-up, the competition selected them through a random lottery. This method would continue for ten years—meaning that for at least the next ten competitions, members of the Titan Race would be chosen at random to participate.

Although the Titan Clan People had broken through to space, their planet’s social structure was an aristocracy. It was divided into different nations that were perpetually at war with one another.

After receiving this rare opportunity, the commoners of the Titan Race were no longer content with their status and aspired to attain nobility.

Those who were slaves before being chosen as lords were even more dissatisfied with their lot in life, each one eager to cast off their chains.

However, for the sake of their families and friends, most chose to endure it, developing their power quietly with the intention of making their move once they were strong enough.

Yet, all of this was thrown into turmoil the moment the first stage ended.

To obtain more resources for development, the nobles from the various Titan Race nations who had entered the competition began, by unspoken agreement, to hunt down the commoners and slaves who had also been chosen.

Any Civilian and slave lords they found were forced to transfer their points and resources to the nobles. A commoner might be able to walk away with some money, but a slave would lose their life on the spot.

Of course, not all nobles participated in these events personally, but they didn’t object to them either. Thus, even the nobles who weren’t directly involved still received a portion of the profits.

At the very start of the second stage, the remaining Civilian and slave lords banded together to ambush the Noble Lords. The nobles who had personally taken part in hunting them were the first to be eliminated under their combined assault.

Upon entering the third stage, where all combat restrictions were lifted, the Civilian and slave lords went all out. They adopted a mentality of dragging the nobles down with them, even if it meant they couldn’t advance.

Meanwhile, the Titan Race nobles from different nations, led by a few key countries, also began fighting amongst themselves.

In any case, the Titan Continent was now a total mess. The only reason Lin Yu’s territory was even scouted was because a few border lords had gotten the idea to see if they could expand outward on their own initiative.
