Chapter 488: Chapter 52: River of Time

Then, Lin Yu picked up the second orb of light. Inside was a small bowl filled with some yellow liquid.

-----------------

[Spiritual Water Gold]: Refined from quintessential gold, then processed through a variety of complex techniques.

Perfectly conducts Spiritual Energy with zero loss.

Commonly used to craft high-end, precision Spiritual Energy items.

-----------------

All in all, Lin Yu was happy to have gotten the "Spiritual Water Gold" resource, for the very reason that he had no idea what it was.

This indicated that the resource was far beyond what his level of technology could comprehend. As long as it was a good thing, that was enough for him.

Moreover, upon closer inspection, Lin Yu discovered that the total volume of the "Spiritual Water Gold" was 1,000 cubic meters.

In other words, the bowl containing the "Spiritual Water Gold" was a spatial item.

’What an unexpected surprise!’

When he moved to inspect the third orb of light, its glow had already faded. Lin Yu saw a small river flowing gently inside.

’What could it be?’

Lin Yu’s mind instantly flooded with thoughts of various mythical waters from legends, and he looked at its description with great anticipation.

-----------------

[Mother and Child River]: A segment taken from the legendary Mother and Child River. Upon use, a Mother and Child River will appear in your territory.

Any living being that drinks the Mother and Child River Water will become pregnant and give birth.

Note: Drinking water from the Abortion Spring can terminate the pregnancy.

Note: The method of pregnancy and birth will differ depending on the life form that drinks the water.

-----------------

"Mother and Child River?"

"Why is Mother and Child River Water considered a resource?"

Lin Yu couldn’t figure it out. He could only conclude that population must also be considered a type of resource.

Still, the Mother and Child River would indeed bring a massive population boost to the territory. Races that struggled to reproduce could now propagate in large numbers with its help.

However, if some being were to accidentally drink the Mother and Child River Water—especially a male—reversing the pregnancy might prove a bit difficult.

Because Lin Yu didn’t have the complementary Abortion Spring to terminate the pregnancy.

As a human male, Lin Yu felt rather unsettled by this "evil" river that could cause men to become pregnant.

However, since it was a Mythic-quality resource, Lin Yu certainly wasn’t going to leave it unused. That would be far too wasteful.

So, Lin Yu steeled himself and used the "Mother and Child River."

Rationally speaking, the "Mother and Child River" was still of great benefit to his territory.

After using the "Mother and Child River," Lin Yu quickly found the newly materialized river on a plain in the territory’s middle ring.

The river had no source, nor did it flow into any other rivers or lakes. At its end, the water simply dwindled until it vanished.

It looked as if the river was welling up from underground and then flowing back down into it.

However, after a careful inspection with his consciousness, Lin Yu confirmed that the river was truly flowing out of the void and back into it, having nothing at all to do with the ground.

Lin Yu couldn’t help but exclaim, "So they really just cut out a segment of the river? And here I was thinking it would be a copy of the entire Mother and Child River, or that the whole thing would be moved here!"

Next, Lin Yu turned his attention to the Government Affairs Center.

"Chenxi!"

Lin Yu’s voice sounded in Chenxi’s ear.

"A Mother and Child River has appeared in the territory’s middle ring. Living beings who drink from it will become pregnant. You all discuss how to deal with it."

Chenxi, sitting in her office at the Government Affairs Center, looked up toward the sky when she heard his voice. "Understood, my Lord. Is there anything else?"

"Nothing for now. But be warned, male beings will also become pregnant if they drink the Mother and Child River Water. Due to physiological differences, there may be... complications. You need to be mindful of that."

"Oh! It’s that magical?" Upon hearing this, Chenxi’s interest in the Mother and Child River piqued, and she immediately went to assemble a team.

Seeing Chenxi get busy, Lin Yu withdrew his attention.

"Now, let’s see about this ’Celestial God’s Fortune Bag’. I wonder what kind of resource it will produce."

Lin Yu picked up the "Celestial God’s Fortune Bag" from the table, took a deep breath, opened it, and tipped it over.

A stream of water shimmering with colorful light poured out. Having just dealt with the Mother and Child River, Lin Yu reflexively threw the bag away.

"Gah, seriously? More water?!"

Lin Yu watched the ceaselessly flowing water, a headache forming. The water resources from this fortune bag really weren’t as convenient as the ones from the Space-Time Ripple.

At least the items from the Space-Time Ripple came contained in orbs of light and only entered the territory upon use.

With this fortune bag, the moment you opened it, the contents were already released into the territory.

Watching the colorful river flow toward the walls of the Lord’s Mansion, Lin Yu tried to use the World Tree’s ability, Compressed Space, to shrink it down and move it outside, lest it flood his entire mansion.

As a result, Compressed Space packaged the area near the wall into a small cube, but the colorful river was completely unaffected.

Instead, because the space it occupied had shrunk, the river was now even closer to Lin Yu.

’...Seriously?’

’This river can’t be compressed?’

Lin Yu tried a few more times and finally confirmed that no matter how he manipulated space, the colorful river remained completely unaffected.

This meant that the river was, at the very least, on the same tier as space itself.

Given its incredibly high tier, Lin Yu was even more hesitant to touch it casually. He formed a pair of hands from Spiritual Energy, used them to fully open the fortune bag, and poured out the rest of the river.

It is the recorder of time, and also its vessel.
