Global Lords: The Undead's Mobile Fortress

Chapter 491 - 226: Void Lord (2)

  • Next Chapter

An innumerable horde of Undead—High Level and Low Level Undead mixed together—surged forward without formation or tactics.

All enemies in their path were reduced to Corpse Remains.

Though they weren’t fighting any powerful Tribes, the Sea of the Dead still left Damenevsky stunned.

No wonder the ancestors always said the Undead were savage.

He wondered what the outcome would be if he were to face this innumerable horde of Undead.

There was a fifty percent chance he could fight his way out and escape.

And a fifty percent chance he would be worn down and killed by the Undead.

The powerful Tribes, such as the Black Ridge Tribe of the Ape Race, made no move at all.

They had come to the Void Land to plunder resources.

Going to war with the Undead Race was clearly inadvisable.

What was the benefit of starting a war?

To steal the Undead Race’s resources?

There was no need.

The Void Land wasn’t the Central Zone.

Not only was this place rich, but it was also basically untouched territory. Resources were everywhere, and not many Strong Races had arrived yet to compete for them.

Why fight the Undead Race to the death? It was completely unnecessary.

If war broke out, casualties would be heavy, to say the least. That was a price the Black Ridge Tribe was unwilling to pay.

Using their own people to gather resources was far better than sending them to their deaths.

Nearly all the Great Tribes thought along the same lines as the Black Ridge Tribe.

It was precisely because they were powerful that they understood their own priorities.

Everything was driven by self-interest.

As long as the Undead Race didn’t attack them, they wouldn’t make a move.

Instead, it was the small and medium-sized Tribes who, thinking they could test Li Ziyu’s strength, were promptly taught a harsh lesson.

Li Ziyu had three things on his mind: hunting Void Beetles, building more Soul Energy Collectors, and finding Void Crystals.

He wasn’t particularly concerned with the Tribes of the Void Land.

It was for the best if they didn’t come looking for trouble.

If they did, however... well, then they would get a taste of the Sea of the Dead.

And over the course of ten days, Li Ziyu encountered quite a few Void Creatures.

In addition to the Void Beetles he had already seen, he discovered other forms of Void Creatures.

In the grasslands, however, Void Beetles were by far the most numerous; other types of Void Creatures were rare.

By hunting Void Beetles, he had increased the number of Soul Energy Collectors to ten.

With ten Soul Energy Collectors, Li Ziyu could now gain roughly 100,000 units of Soul Energy per day.

Sometimes it was more, sometimes less.

At its lowest, the rate was 3 to 5 units per minute, while at its peak, it could reach 30 to 50 units per minute.

Still, Li Ziyu was not satisfied. Paddle-shaped Void Beetles were common, but Turtle-shaped Void Beetles were far less numerous. This was the bottleneck preventing him from building more Soul Energy Collectors.

What pleased him, however, was that he hardly had to lift a finger to kill the Turtle-shaped Void Beetles.

Damenevsky had handled all of them.

Living and eating for free in the Undead Fortress had apparently made Damenevsky himself feel a little embarrassed.

Whenever Li Ziyu and the others ran into Turtle-shaped Void Beetles or other powerful variants, he would offer to deal with them himself.

With a willing volunteer, Li Ziyu was naturally happy to avoid wasting his own troops.

As a result, Li Ziyu had barely expended any effort to build the last few Soul Energy Collectors.

Standing on the rooftop, Li Ziyu gazed out at the distant grasslands.

The grasslands were quiet today.

The usual chirping of insects and birds was gone.

The roaming herds of beasts were nowhere to be seen.

There was only the slightly howling wind.

The wind swept by, making the man-high blades of green grass bow.

Specks of blue fluorescence flickered in and out of sight among the green blades.

Void Beetles...

A large number of Void Beetles were hidden in the grasslands ahead.

Damenevsky came to Li Ziyu’s side, glanced ahead, and a sudden smile touched his lips.

"The scent of danger."

"Mm, there are a lot of bugs."

Li Ziyu added, assuming Damenevsky had also seen the Void Beetles hidden in the grass.

But to his surprise, Damenevsky shook his head.

"Not the bugs in the grass. They aren’t that dangerous yet."

Li Ziyu froze.

He had been observing for some time; there were at least several thousand Void Beetles hidden in the grasslands ahead.

This was no small force.

With the Undead Race’s current strength, they could defeat several thousand Void Beetles, but their own casualties would not be light.

’Besides the Void Beetles, is there something else I haven’t noticed?’

’Are there other Void Creatures hiding?’

Li Ziyu frowned slightly.

Standing beside him, Damenevsky suddenly started to stretch. He rolled his neck, then his shoulders, then his waist. His bones popped and cracked, and his body seemed to swell, growing even more imposing.

"They’re coming!"

Before Li Ziyu could understand what Damenevsky meant, he saw several rifts tear open in the sky above the grasslands.

The rifts expanded rapidly, forming Wormholes.

From the lower Wormholes emerged hundreds of Turtle-shaped Void Beetles.

Meanwhile, the upper Wormholes spat out Void Beetles of a kind Li Ziyu had never seen before.

Those beetles looked tough.

The color drained from Li Ziyu’s face. Several thousand Void Beetles were already a handful, and now hundreds of Turtle-shaped Void Beetles had been added to the mix.

’This is going to be a disaster.’

And on top of that, there were all those unfamiliar beetles he’d never seen before.

’They’re not here for a friendly chat.’

’But why are these beetles targeting me?’

’Did I kill too many of them over the past ten days?’

Li Ziyu’s mind raced with wild thoughts.

He turned to glance at Damenevsky, who had finished his warm-up and was now radiating energy, fully prepared for battle.

"Is this a Void Insect Tide?"

"Yes and no. A normal Void Insect Tide wouldn’t just wait around so quietly."
