Chapter 387: Chapter 24: The Mysterious Cave

When the mutated creatures got close enough, the members of Team Two deliberately made a sound to attract their attention. The mutated dogs immediately charged toward Team Two. Just as they were about to pounce, Team One launched a swift attack from the left, breaking their formation. Team Three seized the opportunity to open fire. The powerful barrage sent the mutated creatures tumbling to the ground.

After a fierce battle, the patrol team successfully repelled the pack of mutated creatures. Bena inspected the battlefield, and after confirming there were no stragglers, he led his team to continue the patrol.

Over the next few hours, the patrol encountered a few more minor threats, but they successfully neutralized them all with their vigilance and courage. As the first rays of dawn touched the shelter’s walls, Bena and his team, exhausted but relieved, concluded their long patrol mission.

They knew their efforts had bought the shelter’s residents a night of peace. They would continue to stand their ground and safeguard the shelter’s security.

Upon returning to the shelter, Bena didn’t even stop to rest before immediately reporting the patrol’s situation to Ye Yun.

"Ye Yun, we encountered a few minor crises last night, but we successfully resolved them. We repelled a pack of small, dog-like mutated creatures in the wasteland and also found some suspicious signs. There may be other potential threats approaching," Bena said grimly.

Ye Yun frowned slightly. After a moment of thought, he said, "Bena, you’ve done well. We can’t afford to relax on our patrols; we must remain vigilant at all times. Notify everyone to heighten their state of alert. Also, have the research team analyze the information you brought back about those suspicious signs."

Bena nodded and turned to make the arrangements. At the same time, Lin Hao and Neil were also reporting their mission progress to Ye Yun.

"Ye Yun, our patrol groups have discovered new signs of mutated creature activity in the surrounding areas. We’ve marked the locations and increased surveillance. The collection team also had a fruitful run, finding several biological samples with high research value. The science team has already begun their analysis," Lin Hao said.

Neil added, "We will continue to keep a close watch on the surrounding environment to ensure the shelter’s safety."

Ye Yun nodded in satisfaction. "Excellent. Your work is crucial. The challenges we face are growing, and we must all work together to overcome them."

Meanwhile, Zhou Mei and Leo were summarizing the results of the cultural exchange event.

"This event was a huge success. Not only did it strengthen our ties with other shelters, but it also brought our own residents closer together," Zhou Mei said with a smile.

Leo nodded in agreement. "We should organize more events like this to let everyone feel the vitality and hope within our shelter."

In the research lab, scientists were busy analyzing the biological samples brought back by Lin Hao and Neil. They hoped to uncover more secrets about the mutated creatures from these samples and provide more technological support for the shelter’s development.

As time went on, the people of the shelter continued to strive for their survival and development. They knew that in this perilous world, only by uniting as one and bravely pushing forward could they build a truly safe and prosperous home in this wasteland.

Bena’s patrol team set out once again, their figures moving resolutely across the wasteland, protecting every person in the shelter. Their steps were firm and powerful, their eyes filled with vigilance. This time, they decided to expand their patrol range, venturing deeper into the unknown areas surrounding the shelter.

Along the way, the team remained on high alert, not missing the slightest suspicious movement. They passed through a desolate valley. It was utterly silent, with only the echo of their footsteps.

Suddenly, a team member’s sharp eyes noticed some strange tracks on the ground.

"Captain, look at this," the team member said in a low voice. Bena strode over and carefully examined the tracks. They seemed to have been left by some large creature, and they looked fresh.

A sense of unease rose in Bena’s heart. He immediately ordered his team to raise their guard and prepare for any potential danger. They followed the tracks and soon discovered a massive cave at the base of a hillside.

A mysterious and chilling aura emanated from the cave’s entrance.

Bena hesitated for a moment before deciding to send someone back to report the situation to Ye Yun while the rest of them kept the cave under surveillance.

While waiting for reinforcements, the team members watched the cave nervously for any sign of movement. Time ticked by, second by second, and the atmosphere grew increasingly tense. Finally, Ye Yun arrived on the scene, leading a reinforcement team.

"Bena, what’s the situation?" Ye Yun asked.

Bena briefly reported their findings. After a moment of contemplation, Ye Yun decided to dispatch a small squad to scout the cave. The squad was composed of brave and experienced members. They cautiously entered the cave.

The inside of the cave was dark and damp, filled with a pungent odor. The team members held their lighting equipment and advanced slowly. As they ventured deeper, they discovered strange biological signs, as well as mysterious patterns and carvings on the walls.

Suddenly, a deep roar echoed from the depths of the cave. The team members’ hearts leaped into their throats. They gripped their weapons tightly, preparing for the challenge ahead.
