Chapter 401: Chapter 31: Secret of the Crystal

By the river, they discovered strange symbols and patterns carved into the rocks. The markings seemed to hold some kind of information, but they were indecipherable.

’This could be this world’s writing, or maybe a code,’ Bena mused.

Just as they were focused on studying the symbols, a tremendous sound echoed from downstream. They looked over to see a massive creature surfacing from the water. It had a colossal body, similar to a whale’s, but was covered from head to tail in metallic scales.

"Prepare for battle!" Bena shouted.

The team members quickly fanned out, seeking advantageous positions. The enormous creature charged them, throwing up a massive spray of water. They attacked it with their ranged weapons, but the creature’s scales seemed to deflect most of the assault.

Bena observed the creature’s movements and spotted a relatively weak area on its underbelly. He directed his team to concentrate their fire on its abdomen. After a fierce battle, the creature was finally driven back, and it submerged into the depths.

After the battle, the team continued their advance along the river. Along the way, they encountered many more unknown dangers and challenges, but with their tenacious will and unified spirit, they overcame every obstacle.

The deeper they explored, the more they realized this world seemed to be hiding many secrets. These secrets might be inextricably linked to the future of the shelter, and could even have a major impact on the fate of the entire universe.

Bena knew their mission had only just begun. In this world filled with mystery and danger, they had to press on, unravel its enigmas, and bring new hope and a future to the shelter. The team forged onward through the strange world, each step fraught with the unknown and new challenges. Bena remained on high alert, knowing full well that in this mysterious place, the slightest oversight could have fatal consequences.

They passed through a forest that emanated a strange light. The branches and leaves of the trees shimmered with a kaleidoscope of colors, as if crafted from some fantastical material. Within the forest, they heard faint, indistinct sounds, like whispers in an ancient tongue.

"Stay alert, everyone. This forest could be hiding dangers," Bena warned in a low voice.

The team members moved cautiously through the forest when, suddenly, a swarm of tiny, sprite-like creatures flew out from between the trees. The creatures were small and delicate, their bodies radiating a soft glow. They danced around the team, seemingly observing them with curiosity.

The team members were captivated by the adorable creatures, and the tense atmosphere eased slightly. Bena, however, didn’t dare let his guard down, his eyes constantly scanning their surroundings.

When they emerged from the forest, a massive mountain peak loomed before them. It towered into the sky, its summit shrouded in clouds and mist, obscuring it from view. Bena decided to lead the team up the mountain; perhaps from the top, they could find more clues about this world.

The ascent was exceptionally arduous. The mountain was steep and treacherous, with rocks occasionally tumbling down from above. But the team members did not back down. They supported one another, climbing higher step by step.

At last, they reached the summit. From the peak, the entire world unfolded before them: a land painted in fantastical hues, with vast plains, deep canyons, and mysterious lakes.

"What an incredible world," a team member marveled.

Bena nodded, his gaze drawn to a place in the distance that was pulsing with an intense light. "There might be an important discovery over there. Let’s check it out."

They headed toward the light. As they drew closer, they felt a powerful wave of energy. When they reached the source of the light, they found an enormous crystal pillar. It radiated a brilliant glow and was wreathed in mysterious runes.

Bena approached the crystal pillar and reached out to touch it. The moment his hand made contact, a powerful force surged into his body. Images flooded his vision—glimpses of this world’s past and future.

The team watched Bena anxiously, afraid he might be harmed. But a moment later, Bena’s eyes snapped open, filled with shock and revelation.

"I’ve seen this world’s secrets. We have to get this information back to the shelter," Bena said resolutely.

However, their journey home was not a smooth one. On the way back, they were hit by a powerful storm. Mysterious energy crackled within the gale, making it nearly impossible to press on.

"Everyone, stick close! Don’t let the storm separate us!" Bena yelled.

The team members worked as one, bracing themselves against the storm’s onslaught. After a long struggle, they finally made it out of the storm’s reach.

Laden with new discoveries and a renewed sense of purpose, they quickened their pace back to the shelter. They knew the information they carried would bring about monumental changes for their home. Bena and his patrol team would continue to forge ahead in this challenging world, fighting for the prosperity of the shelter and the future of humanity. After enduring countless hardships, Bena and his team finally returned to the shelter. Their arrival was met with the enthusiastic cheers of the residents, all of whom were eager to hear about their new discoveries.

Bena immediately met with Ye Yun and the other core members to share everything he had seen and heard in the mysterious world. "That world is filled with mysterious power and unknown dangers," Bena said gravely, "but it also holds tremendous hope."
